Does the job to perfection.
I was amazed at how well this stringer was designed and how well the drop weight method worked. I had my doubts because it was so cheap and I used to own a stand up pro grade stringer so I thought it would be a major downgrade. I was proven wrong which was a good surprise. There are all sorts of tutorials on youtube however a few points I had trouble with and I would like to share:1. Tension meter is on both sides of the metal pole so look on both sides to find the one that applies to you.2. When putting the string through the circular string puller make sure you don't wind it around too tight. Actually you should do it really loosely or else the drop weight will stay up and not work properly.3. Make sure you meticulously measure the string because if your too short you will not be able to pull and tie the knot at the end.Great Job Gamma I really didn't want to have a store string my racquet so you saved me the trouble and not to mention a ton of money.

Machine works great and it's easy to use
Works great. I'm glad I got the model that has clamps attached to the machine rather than using floating clamps. It's real easy to use. My Yonex ezone dr is straight forward and pretty easy to string. I did a couple of prince rackets with large holes took a little thought ahead but it was pretty easy too. A stringing snob with a high end stringing machine says that drop weight machines are loser, but proof is in the pudding. Playing with the rackets, it feels fine.I'm a 3.5-4.0 player using Tecnifibre biphase x-one. I got the model with fixed clamps.

Already paid itself off
I had always wanted to string my own racquets. Paying $18-20 a time made this an absolute value! One great surprise was finding 5 packs of string in the box with the stringer. Just using that string on your own will almost pay for the machine! The stringing machine is very easy to put together and use. I have had no issues with racquets slipping out of the grips. The one thing I would recommend is getting the Gamma starting clamp as the ones it comes with are a little weak. I'm also considering a tension calibrator. I have the gamma string tension tester, but want something else while stringing.All-in-all, I'm very happy with this purchase. I've paid it off in one month stringing my 3 racquets and my wife's 3 racquets (plus a few others to try out). I'm still pretty slow on the crosses and stringing a racquet in about 60 minutes. If you're looking to string your own racquets and are worried about cost, this is the perfect machine to try!

Great entry-level stringer, or for those on a budget
I got out of the stringing game for about 25 years or so, but now I'm back and loving it. This Gamma stringer is very similar to the old green one I had of some other brand, and it's much, much better. The string grip mechanism is a major step forward. The clamps are better and less likely to damage the string than the old metal ones I used. Overall, for the price range, I think it's an awesome deal.

I like it. Very sturdy and holds racquets very secure and the tension is pretty good too. definitely not for professional tournaments, but very good if you want to string your own racquets and recreational or charging friends and family for racquet stringing. directions are good, however learn about your racquets, because there are one piece racquets and two piece racquets.

Excellent
I bought a similar stringer 25 years ago and it deteriorated to the point that I tossed it out a few years ago. Not playing much these days, I didn't replace it. Since my kids have started hitting the ball around, and three of my four rackets now have broken strings, I decided to invest in this stringer rather than pay for individual stringing. Expecting more or less what I had before, I was surprised how much things have advanced in 25 years. This stringer is much better built, has a great clamping system around the weight drop (vs. the rubberband-and-fingers method of my old stringer), and came with a bunch of extras (pliers, awl, and more) that I had to buy separately with the old stronger. Not having strung a racket in 20 years, I was nonetheless able to knock out one of the rackets in 1.5 hours, with one of three free sets of strings they give you. Can't go wrong with this.

A good stringing machine
Can't go wrong with this one. A good stringing machine for 179.Gamma told me there is no difference between this and the x models, they only wanted to change the looks and add small drawers on the bigger models, so they came out with the X line, build and functionality its the same.Stringing learning curve is not too bad, the first one will take you some time, after that is just a simple process. It comes with tools and 3 Gamma Strings included (mine did). Quick to setup, small footprint. This one is totally worth it even if you are a club player.Stop reading reviews, get it and go out and play!!

All You Need to String
After a bad experience with a local brick and mortar store taking way to long to string my racket, I decided to try and make my own stringing machine out of some scrap wood.

Low quality crank clamps
The crank clamps on the drop weight where the string is wrapped are already worn out and the string slips when trying to tension it. Contacted Gamma wigh no response.

No bells or whistles, but works awesome!
This is a probably the best investment I’ve ever made for Tennis. It’s already paid for itself, and I’ve only had it a couple months now.

Why wouldn't you?
Highly recommend...After some practice you will string your racquets in ~an hour, with consistent tensions, on your own schedule, for a fraction of the cost you're now...

Great cost effective stringer for beginners
I had never strung a racket before and, after reading a number of reviews on stringers, decided to purchase this one.

Great for the Socialites!
Clamps are not that easy to work with. It's worth the price if you are just a social player.
