Review: Heavy but porous paper - [Edit] Added some photos of this paper vs my paper of choice, Maruman Mnemosyne, added a "control" of premium printer paper as well. Close up shot included of heavy sheening ink showing the light reflecting off at an angle, specialty inks need to pool on the surface as it dries to a small degree in order to show their special properties. If there is no shine, then beautiful specialty inks will look dull and matte. What I used: Organics Studio Nitrogen (hand made in US, heavy sheening ink), Colorverse Quasar (made in SKorea, premium vibrant ink), Herbin Perle Noire (made in France, super well behaved black ink), Pentel Energel Black (made in Japan, my smoothest rollerball), Sharpie standard black (made in US, example of a very common marker ink), Pentel Ain Stein 2B (made in Japan, my favorite everyday pencil graphite). [Original] I had assumed that the paper would be half decent to be used with my fountain pens, but it looks like, even though it is "heavy weight paper", the paper itself is quite porous. You can tell from feeling it with your fingers. Under your fingers, the paper will feel rough. Good paper tends to be extremely smooth under your fingers. If you want good quality notepads/notebooks, I have found the Rhodia and Mnemosyne pads to be the best and most well priced options for top tier paper. I tried to write on this notebook with a TWSBI Diamond 580 Medium using a heavy sheening ink, Organics Studio Nitrogen, and it did not sheen at all. The paper just inhaled the ink. Instead of a dark blue with red sheen, it was just a monotone muted blue with a decent amount of feathering too. Nitrogen has a moderately long dry time, so it was very surprising to see it noticeably feather. I tried a ballpoint pen with my favorite rollerball ink (Pentel Energel Black Medium), and it looks to work fine for that. In general, if you need a notebook that you will be using a rollerball pen on, this will do the trick. The paper is very porous, to the point where it acts like budget printer paper with ink. Do not get this if you are planning to use fountain pens, as it will cause your ink to heavily feather and may bleed through for your wetter pens and thinner ink. It is very likely that absolutely no sheening nor shimmering inks will behave well on this paper.

Good for journaling + collage
The popular "easy art" exercise is to do some form of paper collage + journaling. Paperage books are a cheaper way to get started and won't fall apart IF you mind the sewn-in binding for the pages. Removing pages to glue down thicker papers and make room for stickers without making the book too bulky is easy if you cut ~1/3" away from the centre to avoid getting too close to the stitches. You can also substitute your own pages by cutting ~1" away from centre and attaching your own replacement pages, like a blank pretty paper. This is not paper rated for multimedia art or anything like watercolours, though. It is not textured for painting, even with acrylics. It is smooth and meant for pens, and can handle adhesive rollers and glue stick. There is a pocket in the back to store a small amount of flat objects. The grid is faint enough to not be intrusive when writing but not so faint that it's hard to see. If you use this notebook for anything other than simple note-taking or things like lists or just writing, it may fall apart faster. So if you're using for that, it will be much more durable!

Great Starter, But Thin Pages
I love the dark green color of this Recycled Dotted Journal Notebook—it's elegant and perfect for starting my bullet journaling journey. The ribbon bookmark is a convenient feature, making it easy to keep track of where I left off, and the small paper pocket in the back is useful for storing stickers or other flat items to enhance my journaling experience. However, I did find that the pages bleed through quite a bit, which can be frustrating if you plan on using both sides of each page. While this notebook is a great choice for beginners, the thinness of the pages may limit how much you can truly utilize each one.

My favorite notebooks.
I have these in every color I believe. The recycled ones are just as good and there’s really no difference. I love these and the pages are great, and the spines don’t break or tear.
