(ISC)2 CISSP Official Practice Tests

First off, if you go through these exams, just expecting to remember the answers for the actual exam, you're doing it very wrong. What this does help with is let you know what you need to study up/refer to in the official study guide, and help define what material you need to spend more time on. What it also helps with is getting you some practice on how to approach these questions, and weed out the answers that are wrong. For the actual exam, you must actually know the material, and this book is a piece to the much larger puzzle of getting yourself prepared. I never actually used the book, so I purchased the Kindle version. The real value with this purchase is the online versions of the test, and you get access to the practice tests for a year after registering. Completely invaluable, and very helpful.

This book was an integral piece of the toolkit that I used to help prepare for (and pass) the exam. I wholeheartedly agree with folks that stated that you shouldn't rely on it (or any one item) as the sole resource. The questions covered all of the domains and they gave sufficient (though not overly detailed) explanations for most of the answers. I used the online test bank vs. the hardcopy for obvious reasons (easily tracking progress, etc.) Highly recommended.

I highly endorse this system and recommend that you buy the combo study guide/test book set, access the online test site, and follow Mike's recommendations. Read the material, take the tests in the books, take the online tests and keep taking them. The amount of information covers many subjects, but if you follow Mike's recommendations you'll be ready. How long your preparation takes depends on your previous and current exposure to the subjects covered but you will get it if you stick to it. Again, get the books, take the time to prepare, test, test, test and you will be ready. Good luck!

This is super-helpful, it helped me pass the exam. What is really useful about the book is that it gets you a year subscription to the online testing system that automates these practice exams. You can use this with your kindle on the go and use the interactive web version when you are on your desktop computer. Just one warning, there are a lot of older versions of this guide for sale floating around on Amazon. The CISSP test changes all the time. This was the most current version as of the time that I took the exam, but they refresh the material at least bi-annually. Make sure that you are getting the latest edition.

The question sets were definitely crucial to learning a lot of the material and helping understand where my knowledge gaps were. However, do not expect questions on the actual exam to be very similar. In general, the exam questions are harder and worded in a much less concise manner. I mostly used the online version which comes with purchasing a copy of the physical book.

I recently passed the CISSP exam and I complemented my studying with this book. Probably the most common advice people give you to pass the CISSP is to think like a security professional: don't fix the problem but instead, put on your security consultant hat and do what a security professional would do. The questions in this book are designed in a way that you must use the same thought process you'd use in the real exam. It was extremely helpful and I strongly recommend this book.

Great Book. It prepares you to pass the CISSP Exam and also covers the key information a CISSP needs to know to perform well in the field. I found the book coupled with the sybex online tests mimicked the actual CISSP exam very closely. I Highy recommend this text if you want to pass the CISSP Exam. After studying this book I finished the 3 hour exam in 1.5 hours and passed.

After doing the domain tests, I delayed my exam a month. They are hard tests. Going to take exam January. This is a fantastic and absolutely necessary tool. Don’t let it be disheartening when you mess up the domain tests, just learn from them. Trust me when I say, use this and maybe 11th hour for a summary and the free skill set videos on YouTube and you will pass. Good luck.

Recently sat & passed my CISSP exam with this on the first try. Used this and the companion self-study guide as my main references. Spend the time working through the practice tests, read and understand why when you don't get questions right.

I used this book to test my knowledge before the exam. This tests helped me sharpen my understanding of the concepts required for the exam. For the actual exam, accuracy is more important than speed. Reflecting back, I couldn't imagine passing the exam without having to go through his book at least once. I used also used the paid version of the CISSP preparation app on play store (Not the pocket prep app).

Don't expect this to be like real exam. Real exam is different, way different. In my exam when i was on 50 Q, brain was physically aching, my eyes was loosing focus, My brain was tired by solving just 50 questions, I didn't know whether i could keep on going till 150 Q, also i didn't know if i answered the questions right or not. But i passed, passed with awesome results, you will get a clue if you did good in the exam. —————— This book helps to solidify the information you already know. Use the web version of this book test. I would recommend restraining from all other practice questions out there. Only use which is attached with official study guides or anything official. If you have sybex you have 20 Q per chapter, and have a bonus 900 Q. This book has 1200 plus 500 bonus(which can be used to time yourself) —————— While answering the question in this book. What you want to achieve is to make your brain work as less as possible. Brain is going to be f-ed on exam be ready. Ah.. Ear plugs ask for ear plugs... —————— I passed on my second attempt. First attempt i took this exam as i have taken all other certification exam. Even knowing all the details covered i failed - My method to approch this exam was flawed. Losing 60k wasn't the problem for me it's how badly I failed took me apart. —————— Understanding the scope of the question is important.And this will feel like an advanced level English language exam, wording of questions will be hard to comprehend, I have seen word I havn't come across in my whole life, exam questions are prepared by lawyers/people who write SLA and stuff, and whole paragraph content shrunk into few sentence. —————— Good Luck....
