Good quality, great size, easy to use
I love my mug. I am one of those people that is constantly having to reheat my coffee as I get busy and my coffee gets cold. Easy to use, buttons easily accessible and I love that it has an auto shut off when liquid is low, no worry about overheating and it feels safe. Battery last quite awhile, easy to clean and love the charging pad. Would highly recommend

Fantastic Mug!
I wanted to give this mug a fair shot before writing a review—several uses in, and I can confidently say it’s a winner. This temperature control mug does exactly what it claims to do: it keeps coffee hot (not just warm) from the first sip to nearly the last. The mug is easy to use, with one intuitive button and a clear indicator light showing three heat settings: warm, hot, and “piping.” I prefer my coffee piping, and the high setting keeps it at just the right temperature for me. Battery life has been solid—up to 2.5 hours as advertised—and the five blue indicator lights make it easy to track remaining charge. Of course, using the higher heat setting drains the battery a bit faster, but that’s expected. One standout feature is the included charging base. When I’m at my desk, I keep the mug on the base while sipping, which helps preserve battery life. The base has two raised contact points that align with the inset conductor rings on the mug's bottom, so there’s nothing to plug in—just set it down and go. Simple and effective. There’s also an auto-off feature that detects when the mug is empty. While I haven’t tested it deliberately, I’ve noticed the last sip is sometimes cooler, which makes me think the mug powers down before it’s completely empty—a smart safety feature, especially if you’re forgetful or distracted (no one wants melted plastic or worse!). The mug holds a standard 8-ounce pour comfortably, even with room for cream—though I drink mine black and untainted. It also does a great job maintaining heat even without the lid, though I imagine it retains heat even better with it on. Bottom line: this mug offers excellent usability and functionality at a significantly lower price point than some of the better-known competitors. If anything changes down the road, I’ll update my review—but as of now, this is a fantastic value and a great buy.

Keeps Coffee Hot for Hours, Goldilocks approved
The KEPWAM 16oz Smart Heated Coffee Mug does a great job of keeping a hot cup of coffee at your desired heat level for several hours. With three temperature settings to choose from (warm – 113°F, hot – 131°F, and piping – 149°F), one is bound to be “just right” for you (not too hot, not too cool)! The cup itself is very attractive and there are several color options available. Again, you should be able to find a color that is “just right” for your taste. I have found the battery life ample to get me through my morning routine, with the cup maintaining the mid-level temperature for about 4 hours on a full charge. There is also an option to keep the cup on the charger plate while in use, which will keep the charge all day long. Of course, that defeats the “portability” benefit of a self-powered heated cup. I have been using a warming plate for years, but have had to sacrifice the ability to take my coffee with me to another room and keep it hot. So, whether you use the portability feature or fixed charger plate option, one is bound to be “just right” for you! They do list the “capacity” as 16 oz. While this is, technically, a true statement, 16oz fills the cup to the very tip-top of lip (see photo). Of course, a cup this full cannot be moved without spillage, so the “usable” capacity is more in the 14 oz. range. Also, they similarly list the capacity as 14 oz with the lid attached. Again, this is an overflow level. The “usable” capacity with the lid is more like 13 oz. (see photo). Other key things to note: the cup cannot be put into a microwave oven, nor can it go into the dishwasher (hand wash only, I wouldn’t recommend submerging, although a quick dip in soapy water and a gentle rinse should be OK). Even though it comes with a lid for travel, note that this cup most likely will not fit into a car’s standard cup holder. The handle is such that the cup cannot nestle down inside the cup holder. But for moving from room to room, the lid can be a handy plus for this cup. Overall, this is a great cup that does keep a beverage at a good drinking temperature for several hours. 5 STARS AND I DO RECOMMEND THIS ITEM I write honest reviews based on real life experience with each item to help others make informed purchases. I read reviews too, and appreciate how helpful they can be. I hope that you find this review helpful!

Clear lid burned by hot beverage = BPA in my drink...skip this, it's not worth it.
I like this cup because it does keep my coffee and tea hot...albeit at the highest setting. My definition of hot is the same as how the coffee comes out of the carafe, freshly made as well as the hot water for my tea. That temp is the same as the highest setting. It also helps to keep it hot with the lid that comes with it. Speaking of the lid, my concern is how it "burns". If you put a hairdryer on high and put it close to plastic, it will warp it and if it doesn't, it will definitely burn it. You will see the surface scar with burn bumps, if you will. That means the plastic is not high temp safe = plastic in your hot cup of coffee or tea. This explains the taste I had on my first night with hot tea. It tasted funny and I played it off as it's first burn. This morning I clean the lid after my coffee and notice the part of the lid is still clear, but the other side and middle has scuff marks because it's no longer clear, but cloudy. I can feel a texture that the clear side does not have and that is clearly plastic burning from the heat. I included two pictures to show the new "frosted" look of the lid. The darker one has a clear area that you may see the texture of the tray that it is on. I took a third picture where you can see through the lid in that same area to the mousepad underneath, while the other areas are burned or scarred. Please note that this lid used to be clear and see through. I will not be using this lid and may send this entire thing back because that is not good at all. That is low quality plastic that I most likely ingested while drinking my hot beverage. The bottom of the cup also shows some anomaly that shouldn't be there, almost as if it was also burned. In the picture, the bottom of the cup has a new texture that wasn't there before. I checked this cup to see if there were anything odd about it as a new cup and there was nothing to note. The bottom of the cup was as smooth as the sides of the bottom are. Note that the center of the bottom is thinner than the other area. You can push down and feel it give. Tap the middle, then tap the sides of the bottom and you can hear a hollow sound in the middle and you can hear it become more solid and sturdy closer towards the sides. The paint and how it is applied may not be as quality as it looks. I'm returning this. I have other metal mugs with clear plastic lids that have not done this in the years that I have had them. Enter this item and the lid burns along with the paint on the bottom of the cup where the heating element is.

My mug for now
This is the coffee mug that I have elected to keep for now. I have tried several heated coffee mugs, and this is my attempt at comparison in descending order of price: EMBER PROS: - Best looking and best feeling mug. It's like drinking from a quality ceramic mug. - Large range of temperature settings for your perfect temperature brew. CONS: - My worst problem was the lack of durability of the finish. My white one stained badly, and the two black ones had the interior finish wear off despite great care and the use of silicone spoons bought expressly for that purpose. - Requires an app to check battery and set temperature. This was not a problem for me, but occasionally the mug would lose connectivity and need to be reset - a bit of a pain. - It comes in 10 ounce and 14 ounce sizes, a little too small imo. 15-16 ounces is my preferred size. - Most expensive of the self-heating mugs, but despite the price tag, I would probably use an Ember mug if it were more durable. HAPPINESS PROS: - Comes in 16 ounce and other sizes with several colors to choose from. - Less expensive than the Ember. - Has an app but it is not required to use the mug. There's a button that's easy to use and an LED display that shows battery life and temperature. - A wide range of temperatures can be selected. - I can't speak as to durability, because I decided not to keep it. One big CON: - It has a cheap feel. The rim is thin and "plasticky" feeling, so drinking out of it is not as pleasurable to me as drinking out of the Ember. Unfortunately, this was a dealbreaker for me. KEPWAM This is the one that I have elected to keep for now until my "perfect" mug is available. PROS: - Good price - Comes in a 16oz and other sizes with several colors to choose from. - I was initially concerned that there were only three preset temperature options. I thought that my preferred temperature would be between medium and high, but as it turns out the high temperature is fine for me. CONS (or still not sure): - As others have mentioned, the handle is too thin and not comfortable to hold. I decided this was less problematic than my issues with the other mugs, but it would have been so easy to make a comfortable handle. I found a silicone pot handle cover that makes the handle a bit better (see photographs), but it is still not ideal. - No option for an app, but this might be a desirable feature for some. It is certainly easy to operate the mug with the button. - The temperature does not always seem to hold steady, particularly if I haven't taken a sip for a couple of minutes. I'm not sure if that would be the case if I kept it on the charging plate. - I'm not sure how well it will hold up, but for the price I'm willing to take a chance.

Perfect Size, Easy to Use, Heats for a Very Long Time
I love this mug because it stays hot for a very long time. It hasn't died on me yet before I can drink my coffee, or the tea that I drink at night. It's easy to use and you don't need an app to control it. When there is no longer liquid in the mug, it will sense it and shut itself off. I like strong coffee but my husband and I drink different kinds so we use Keurig pods. I use 2 pods at 6oz each and that makes 12oz off strong coffee. This cup has sufficient room at the top to add cream and sugar and still not get too close to overflowing. The color is very pretty too. Nice looking mug.

Holds heat great! Good battery life for me
I love love love my mug! I’ve owned it for about 7 months now and I use it daily all day long. I put it on the charger at night and it lasts me on low for the whole next day until about 5-6pm. The low setting is perfect for my coffee, personally. I do mew the lid on full time and I think that helps with temp control and battery longevity. My mom has the same mug and she keeps the lid off. Her battery lasts less time and she has to keep it on the medium setting. So if you’re having less performance than you’d like, try keeping the lid on. I like the purple color the most, though I would have preferred green or blue. However, I don’t like the “dusty” shade look of the colors. The touch buttons are perfect I think because they are actual buttons you have to push yet there aren’t any cracks for liquid to get inside. I don’t have to worry about accidentally hitting a touch screen button either. I only have two small complaints: 1) The lid broke the first time I tried to remove the black slider to clean it. Now it’s too loose and the slides closed on me when I try to drink. I ordered a replacement lid and it’s been ok so far, a few cleanings in, but it’s loosening as well and sometimes slides closed on me. I’m not keen on buying another lid that is both difficult to clean AND prone to breaking. 2) The wide shape of the cup means it doesn’t fit in any of the car cup holders. I’ve taken it in the car on many occasions and I have to set it inside my console, where it has spilled a time or two. It does fit inside my mom’s Honda pilot cup holders, however. Overall, I still absolutely love this cup and it has been a game changer for actually finishing a cup of coffee before it gets cold! Perfect for a busy homeschooling mom of 3. Best Mother’s Day gift ever!

Making my hot drink enjoyable for hours
Work as advertised. Keep my drink hot during the cold weather. Milk skin keeps forming in my drink, it's a little bit annoying but that's unavoidable since the cup is constantly heating the drink to keep it warm. The drink can be a little bit too hot when there's not too much left. Really can't complain given the price. Agree with other reviewer that the cup handle is not very comfortable, but not a deal breaker. No app is required for setting temperature, which is great. Can't comment on durability since I've only used it for a week. Quick tip: Pour hot water into the cup after finishing milk-based drink, that would make removing the skin from the cup easier
