Smells Bad....Works Great
I use this product seasonally to keep the rabbits out of our flower garden. It works great. The product smells strong and the rabbits don't like it. Problem....when it rains the smell is gone. So you just reapply.

Really worked.
This really worked! Marmots have not returned. Smells aweful, though. Wear gloves and a mask.

Good for keeping 1-2 groundhogs under control
It definitely stinks; shake new granules every couple days & especially after rain. Easy to use cut 2 slits open to keep concentration odor ( if only using small ants frequently)

Not for a suburban scenario. Dosent work on squirrels but works great on people.
I have problems with squirrels. Confounded furry critters are eating all my garden goodies. I was hoping this would be the answer to all my problems but there are a few issues. first of all, It did not work. It may be that I did not place enough down but being that I live in a typical suburban environment my neighbors are only a dozen feet or so from me and this stuff stinks! REAL bad! I gagged when I opened it up for the first time. We had to close the windows it was so bad. So did the neighbors. It makes your yard smell like a dog has crapped-everywhere. Fortunately it washed away quickly after it rained but that is the other problem. If you plan on using this you should buy a lot of it. You will have to reapply after it rains every time. And this stuff is not cheap. Another problem is that you are supposed to use this as a perimeter barrier because it can't be placed on or near vegetables. or anything that will be eaten. My friend uses this on his farm to keep away deer with great success but he uses a lot of product and it's no where near his house. So depending on what your needs are you may have better results but our squirrels completely ignored this product as if it did not exist. I guess I'll try the pepper wax and see if that works but the real solution is getting a dog. All in good time I guess.

So far so good! UPDATE: Does not last long enough for the price!
Just bought our first home, planted some flowers for spring. Saw pudgy groundhog in our backyard, thought it was kinda cute...until it DEVOURED all my new flowers. Was so looking forward to seeing the first blooms on my new baby rose bushes--buds gone. All my petunias--looks like someone took a weed wacker to them. This means WAR, porker. This product doesn't have the best reviews, but it was the best I could find from searching groundhog repellents online. I also bought some 97 cent pinwheels from Walmart and put them around the plants I was trying to protect (I read online that the movement/shininess of the pinwheels might be helpful to deter the skittish groundhog). I laid this stuff down way heavier than recommended, but I haven't seen the groundhog even ONCE since I put this stuff (along with the pinwheels) down one week ago. No further damage to any of my plants, which has allowed many of them to start recovering nicely. Come to find out this groundhog lives underneath our neighbor's shed--and our neighbor is okay with this?! So the fact that it's in such close proximity and still not bothering our yard is pretty impressive. Hopefully the effect won't wear off over time (and of course I will keep applying this stuff periodically), but rest assured I'll come back and adjust my star rating if he makes a reappearance. So far, I'm very impressed!!!! UPDATE: It's been almost 2 weeks since I wrote the review (so almost 3 weeks since I first applied the Shake Away)--I've actually seen the groundhog in our yard a couple times, but only in the yard itself and not for long--so far it has been leaving my garden beds and planters (where I have the fox urine and pinwheels) alone. I actually have FLOWERS now and they're so pretty!! Now if I could just get rid of the slugs... Edited to add: when I originally ordered this, I ordered a few--they were only $6 a pop. Now they're $20 a pop. Not happy about this as I'm all out of it now and I'd like to order more but don't want to pay more than triple the price I originally paid. $6 was reasonable--$20 not so much. 2nd UPDATE: Removed 2 stars. I have had to resort to fencing off any plants/ areas of the garden that the groundhogs (yes plural, I believe there are actually 3 of them that frequent our property!) want to eat. The Shake Away does work, but does NOT last long enough, needs to be applied more heavily than the directions indicate, and the price is STILL $30 a pop (has never gone back down to anywhere near $6--apparently I just got really lucky on the price when I first discovered this!). If this product were affordable enough to reapply frequently, then I might have left my review at 5 stars, but given the fleeting efficacy and substantial price, it's just not suitable for anything more than a couple weeks of groundhog deterrence. Oh and the pinwheels are not effective deterrents either--once the fox urine smell wore away, the groundhogs went right past the pinwheels to do their munching!

So far, so good ...but it stinks (as it's supposed to)
Without going into too much detail (because my blood pressure will rise again...I had some squirrels chew through my fascia board and part of my plywood to get into my attic and make a nest. I didn't realize how bad the damage was at the time. A wildlife removal service came and removed the squires and installed some metal to block their entry. But they are squirrely and found a nearby area to chew back in. While I was waiting for the roofer to come out to assess the damage, I needed to do something. I wanted to buy a BB gun (a serious consideration) but thought not a good teaching decision for my son. Tabasco sauce the area? Cayenne pepper the area? (I read the squirrels don't like the hot stuff). But I knew I could get directly to the area because of the pitch of the roof and didn't want to risk getting air borne cayenne in my eyes or nose. Then I found this stuff and bought it. When the wildlife removal folks came back (second time) they removed 2 dead young squirrel and one live young squirrel. I ask him to spread this stuff out in the area that they got entry. The removal guy had not heard about this stuff but did as I asked. I warned him that it stinks. He didn't believe me. Fool. He came down his ladder complaining that as he was throwing some of the stuff under the eaves, the smell really got to him. He said he thought this should help keep the squirrels out and with the roof repair I should be good to go. Roofer came out and did a lot of work. I asked him to also spread the granolas around and he was not happy with the smell. I just hope it lasts for a long time. NOTE: I'm not sure this would last long if spread out in the yard. I would expect that once rain hit it, it would dissolve. Not sure how long the scent would linger then. I did spread some on my patio and now, 2 months later, the squirrels are back running around the patio. But I'm not going out and spreading it every month. I hope and pray that in the attic, out of the elements it will last a long time. I used to think squirrels were cute and funny. Now they are just destructive rats with long tails and I want them gone.

Not for a Small City Backyard
Fox urine STINKS!! I can't imagine anything or anyone would want to come near my yard with this stuff...except my dog. I sprinkled it around the perimeter of my yard, and in places where rabbits were eating vegetation. Well, my dog could smell it as soon as she got outside and went straight to the spots where I put it. She smelled SO BAD I had to give her a bath. She's not the type of dog to roll in stuff, but just stepping in it and getting her nose in it, she was RANK!! The rabbits didn't stay away either. They still came into the yard to eat my flowers and vegetable leaves. The worst part, besides the dog getting into it, was that I could smell it every time I went into my backyard, and it made me gag. I would not recommend these fox urine granules for a small city yard...maybe a country acre where you could sprinkle it FAR AWAY from your own nostrils and the super sniffers of your dogs.
