Broadlink Smart Home Hub, RM Mini3 Smart Wi-Fi IR Universal Remote Control, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Only, One for All Infrared Controller - Black

I was pointed towards this product on the Alzheimer's UK forum. My Mum has dementia and is now struggling to remember how to use the remote control panels for her TV and Sky box. This has been an absolutely brilliant addition and works perfectly. It sits alongside the Ring indoor camera, so I can see her TV across the room clearly enough to use this device to change channels for her. I have it set up with: - her Samsung TV - her Sky box - her Roku player, for Prime, Netflix etc I can change the source of the TV, to switch between the Sky box and the Roku player and the ability to map buttons individually means I can also adjust the volume, pause, rewind, browse through the TV guide menus etc as well. For £23 this is a real game changer for me and my Mum. I just watched a couple of tutorials on YouTube to get it setup, which didn't take long. I'm also going to map it to her electric fire as well, so I can turn that on and off for her as needed, when I'm not there. Would highly recommend!

Only downside is the supplied lead, which is quite short. The device is easy to set up and works well for turning on/off devices and turning up/down the volume. Some features, like changing the channel, don't necessarily respond. This is dependent on the remote you are using being specifically recognised by the Broadlink app. For example my LG t.v responds via Alexa because Broadlink app recognises LG t.v. On the other hand, my freeview box is Bush, which isn't in the list of Broadlink app recognised manufacturers. Nevertheless, you can easily programme your remote into the device, which will operate the none officially recognised device, in my case the Bush freeview, via the Broadlink app. Most functions of my t.v can be controlled via Alexa. The Bush Freeview via Alexa is on/off, volume up and down, which for me is good enough because as I have mentioned, you can control all functions via the app. One last consideration, whichever devices you want to control, in my case, t.v, freeview and stereo, the RM Mini3 has to have an unobstructed line of sight with the IR sensor on the device it is controlling. This is why in my opinion the suppled lead is too short as it limits where you can mount the Mini3, which might not give the unobstructed line of sight I made mention of. In my case, I simply used some double sided tape to stick it under a wall mounted speaker, bought a 3m lead for ￡6, which would reach to the plug and bingo.

As a user of various smart home products, I recently added the RM Mini3 to my setup, and I'm genuinely impressed by its capabilities. It is tiny and you might miss it if you didn't know it was there. It is compatible with a wide range of devices, including TVs, air conditioners, DVD players, and more. It acts as a universal remote control, making it easy to integrate your existing non-smart/dumb devices into your smart home ecosystem. It has all the functions for my TV, 4k Blu Ray play and air con unit and a "community" user had uploaded the commands for my Xbox. You can create "routines" from with in the app or via your smart home eco system (Alexa, Google etc.) The main reason for buying it was a a back up to my Logitech Harmony Elite, which Logitech no long make and provide limited support for. I have started using the Broadlink app more that the Harmony app. Also the IR learning is better than the Harmony hub. The only negative I have so far is, there was no plug/adapter supplied.

At first all went well, even though it coped well finding Samsung TV, Yamaha AV and Humax Freeview, it was a pain to set up. Once working it was fine, though Alex could only handle basic commands, such as turn tv on, change channel on TV, she was unable to do anything with the Yamaha AV and would only turn on Freeview box. Decided after a couple of days to add a New AV device (Sony), and the nightmare begins, to add device you have to put it in pairing mode, then all of a sudden it can no longer find Network, even if it was sitting 2 inches away from router, no matter what I did it wold no longer connect. Emailed support for help 5 days ago, still awaiting for some form of response from them Decided it was no longer worth the effort and binned it Good if it worked, but utter rubbish when it does not, and Broadlink support is the worst I have come across in a long time.

12-3-2019 supplied by Broadlink fulfilled by Amazon there is a lot of negativity on Amazon re- Broadlink products and to be fair they have a chequered history so I am going to give a fresh insight to my experience with this Broadlink mini 3 I already had a Broadlink account which is also linked as a skill to my Alexa account So as a guide I had this Broadlink mini 3 setup within 5 minutes of unboxing Download the IHC for EU App at this time it works with the Broadlink RM Pro It also works with Alexa Link the Broadlink IHC for EU skill to your Alexa App On IHC add Device and add the Broadlink mini as a remote then as required you should be able to add your device remote controls to the Broadlink mini I went to add a TV selected Sony tested the power button and it worked straight off Now for the brilliant part as I thought I would have to setup scenes for each TV command in the broadlink app but no Alexa controls the TV by voice straight out of the box it's amazing caveat being that your Amazon Alexa device would need to hear your voice over the background noise in your room my second generation Echo dot could not hear me above the TV noise but I recently got a Echo Show and that can pick up commands even when the Tv is on Hope this helps re-balance the negative reviews

This product was released in 2016, and it would've worked perfectly in the market... in 2010. Once you connect the device to your network it works perfectly well, and integrates well with Google Home, but the problem is getting it connected in the first place. The device comes with a USB cable (but no power plug), and has one of those reset holes you'll need a SIM tray eject tool for (not supplied) several times. If you have a 2.4GHz/5GHz combined network you MUST disable 5GHz before you begin setup. If you don't your device will get itself into a state and need to be reset with the SIM tool. If you type in the WiFi password wrong your device MUST be reset with the SIM tool. Your PHONE must connect to the same 2.4GHz device that you want your Mini3 to connect to; if you have multiple access points (e.g. several Eero) then your phone and Mini3 must both connect to the same one, or it'll need to be reset with a SIM tool. When I got all of these steps down... it still couldn't connect to the network and told me to connect to the device itself using its own WiFi network; I had to reset the device with the SIM tool several times before this showed up, and then it tried to take me through a different journey before it got back to this one (more resetting). After about 40 minutes and 15 resets, I finally got this thing on my network. I am a technical professional, and this is one of the most frustrating setup processes I've ever seen in a finished product. 3 stars, simply because in the same modern networking environment, someone less technical is likely to just give up and ask for a refund (read the other reviews!) As for the functionality itself, the app is beginning to look a bit old BUT it does work, and added devices show up in Google Home with no other configuration. Now when I say "Hey Google, good morning", my TV turns on (via this Broadlink), the amplifier it's connected to turns on (Tapo plug), my curtains open (Somfy), and the lights turn on (Hue). One step closer to full automation!

Bloody awesome, integration with alexa is poor but this is ALL on amazon..Maybe update ALEXA?? from the app it can learn remotes but also has huge number of pre-installed templates for huge number of manufacturers. Alexa supports basic on/off play pause vol up down. I have bought two and would buy more(if needed) love this product just wish AMAZON would use an ANYMOTE(6 times more expensive when it was making IR boxes) type skill, as with the ANYMOTE skill ALEXA could understand many more TV/Fan type commands.

these work as described when you get them working. it is however very finicy on the software. once you get it set up the first time it works great with alexa and alexa routines allowing you to set up custom commands to turn on all your electronics but getting this device initially connected is a tedious process. the softwares slow and take a while to connect but once you have it set up if you just use alexa voice commands with it then it works really well.

Was wel even knutselen met een 2,4ghz netwerk aangezien ik die niet heb. Maar eenmaal verbonden kon ik snel alle knoppen van de afstandbedieningen instellen. Werkt ook goed met Google Assistent.
