I assume it is matt finish?

Our MDF primer dries to a matt white finish making it perfect for overcoating.

Can this be used on top of stain and varnish

It’s a Primer for MDF to soak into mdf to give a bond for the finishing coats, so don’t know why you need it if painting onto a previously sealed surface, but if you are removing the varnish leaving an unprimed substrate then that may be a different matter.

Will this be a suitable primer to use on ikea pax wardrobe?

I purchased this to undercoat our new fitted MDF cupboards, it covered extremely well so decided to refresh other wooden units we have. It covered all the laminated furniture very well and once glossed has been very hardwearing.

I got this for scumble paint but it is water based and I should have got acrylic primer. Will this work?

Hello This is just a higher perfoming primer, with better pigments, but is still based on acrylic resins. I do not think you will have any issue once dry.
