Read and find out about the wind—what causes it, how it can be used to help us, and how it affects the weather—in this colorfully illustrated nonfiction picture book. Air is always moving. We can't see air moving, though we can watch it push clouds across the sky, or shake the leaves of a tree. We call moving air the wind. In this clear and appealing science book for early elementary age kids, both at home and in the classroom, Arthur Dorros shows how to make your own weather vane, and in simple terms, with playful illustrations, he explains just what makes the wind that blows all around us. This is a Level 2 Let's-Read-and-Find-Out, which means the book explores more challenging concepts for children in the primary grades. Review: Educational - My daughter enjoyed learning about the wind. Great science due book Review: Great educational book - Bought for my 2 year old with a wind sensitivity (along with another wind book that's more age appropriate). Concepts are definitely beyond her grasp at this point, but she still enjoys when I read it to her and has actually given me information about wind so I can explain to her what's happening when we're outside and the wind picks up. I find repetition is helpful for her situation and I prefer speaking to her using facts instead if just saying "you're fine". I imagine this book is best for kids in late elementary school, but would recommend for younger kids in a situation like mine.

Clear and simple explanation about how wind is generated.
Theme this week is 'the wind' in the Kindergarten class/pod. Was looking for books that had stories about the wind that the children could enjoy, but also something that explained how wind is generated. This was it. Simple, clear, engaging. Perfect for the class.

Great book. Good story. Grand-daughter loves it. The last page of her old book was missing so bought her another . So great for her to know how the story ends. Fully recommend this book so good for youngsters as they often want to try to read along with you!

Good book
Questions about the wind have been big this spring in my house, and honestly, I couldn't give my 4 year old an answer. This book supplies the answer. Now I can say, "It's when hot air and cold air change places," and he's happy. Great pictures. Great concepts. Talks about things they can relate to. It holds their attention very well.

A child's favorite!
I gave my 3year old grandson one book of this series; he loved it and saw others on the back cover and asked for more. It makes science available and understandable to the very young

Great - as described
The book was just what I wanted for my class of Reception age children to use during a module called 'What's the weather like today.'

風の吹くようすをいろいろな英語で表現
Let's Read and Find Out(LRFO)シリーズ Stage 2です。 (このタイトルは1,050語) Wind is moving air. Air is what we breathe. そして風の吹き方についていろいろな表現が使われています。 tickle blow howl flap bend sway push flutter なるほど~。 基本的に科学絵本好きなので、楽しく読みました。 残念ながらCDはありません。

look, observe and conduct experiments to learn about wind
A very simple and child-friendly explanation of what causes wind and how wind affects us. Also has simple experiments that children can perform, most without assistance. What I really like about the book is that it teaches children to observe and look closely at the world around them. This is crucial to learning science and developing thinking skills. The text does get a little repetitive, though, and not in a good way. The illustrations are simple and yet detailed.
