I had the name brand and then tried this one because it had such a good price compared to the name brand, and the active ingredients were, as far as I could tell, the same. It is very easy to use; it is a medium tablet you can take with water. The effects are gentle, and when I take it a little before bed it’s “all systems go” in the morning.

I’ve tried quite a few laxatives and stool softeners over the years, and honestly these little GenCare Senna-S tablets have worked better for me than most of the bigger name brands. They’re small and easy to swallow, which I appreciate because some of these kinds of pills can be huge. What I like most is that they seem to work gently but effectively. For me, they usually kick in within about 3 hours, and I haven’t had the cramping or uncomfortable side effects I’ve experienced with other products. That alone makes these worth keeping in the medicine cabinet. The dual-action formula is nice because it doesn’t feel too harsh, and I like that I don’t wake up feeling miserable the next morning. The bottle also lasts a long time with 200 tablets, so it feels like a good value for the price. The only small downside is that timing can vary a little depending on what I’ve eaten that day, so I try not to take them unless I know I’ll be home later.
