Works for what I needed it for
Bought this to hang a bike wheel while it's on the trainer. Would imagine it would work well for a shelf too. But the wheel hasn't fallen yet lol

Small and Strong!
These are awesome! Used to hang my mantle. I couldn’t be happier with the brackets

Sturdy, but fasteners are cheap.
The brackets themselves are great. Fasteners, not so much. I wouldn't trust the fasteners to hold a tissue. BUT, I used a router table and routed out the back of a solid wood shelf to allow the bracket to sit in the depth of the mounting bracket. After mounting it to the wall into a stud with 3" screws, I then marked the back of the shelf and drilled a hole about a 1/16" bigger than the diameter of the bracket shaft. Added some glue in the holes and slid the shelf onto the brackets to allow them to sit flush against the wall. They can hold about 10-12 lbs with no concern. The pictures are after installation for a customer.

Easy if your handy
These are easy to install if you are handy with tools. If you want them to be completely hidden, then you have to counter sink the bracket itself into the shelf. Otherwise it leaves a gap between the wall and shelf. They are good quality. I only broke the weld on one of them while I was installing them.

DID NOT FIND THESE EASY OR EFFECTIVE AT ALL.
Despite following the instructions (and I am an experienced DIY-er) these brackets were disappointing. Once installed - to instructions - the shelves (which were not heavy nor deep) still sagged a bit even before putting anything on them. I see other purchasers are completely happy but for me, not a success.

Difficult all the way
As other reviewers have said, there's not a great drill bit to drill holes in your intended board thanks to the size of the pins on the brackets. You have to use a 3/8" bit and ream the hole out. This took me 3 attempts; on the first one I drilled the hole 3/8" and tried to jam the pin in, but it got stuck and I had to break my board to get it out. Attempt 2 I tried reaming the hole, during which the tip of the bit broke through the surface of the board, making a hole in the middle of it.Once you've successfully done that you have to make enormous holes in your walls for the drywall anchors, which are FAR too big for the screws they've included. The screws just spin around in them and never grip to cinch up. Once I suspected what was going on I even tried it on a pair that hadn't been hammered into the wall, just the screw and the anchor, and confirmed the anchor is simply way too big and the screws just flop around inside them.My choices are now to either go into the hardware store to find whatever massive screws might fit these anchors (at which point they might not fit through the mounting bracket,) or fix the enormous holes in my wall and buy another product.Unfortunately, this project took so long to complete due to how ridiculous the process was that I'm outside of the return window.Buyer beware.

Very sturdy brackets
These floating shelf brackets are well made. I bought a different brand and they fell apart, really cheap spot welds. These are very sturdy and I doubt they will ever fall apart. These are easy to attach to the wall, but if anyone has ever tried to be extremely precise in measuring and drilling, there is lots of room for error. The brackets have enough play that you can adjust about 1/8th of an inch side-to-side, maybe 1/16th up/down. I’m an accountant by trade, so hanging floating shelves is a real challenge. I highly recommend these brackets. The pics are of the unfinished project...

Concealment
I have now used probably over 30 of these mounts and I keep rebuying them. Key is that you use a drill press or have a very steady hand to drill straight. These are on 2X4 cedar planks. Can take a lot of weight if mounted on a stud
