The Lexar brand is great! The transfer of data is seamless. Versatile as it has the option to store files in both encrypted and unencrypted mode. Fits in your palm or pocket. Can attach it to a key chain or similar apparatus, but one of the connectors will be exposed, as there is no cover. Stable, sturdy design for dual ports, USB-A and USB-C.

I've had this Lexar D40E a while now as my go-between drive for USB-C and plain USB-A ports. Build is the first thing you notice — it's all metal, so it feels far more substantial than the plastic sticks everyone ships. The 360° swivel cover is satisfying to flip, and there's a key-ring loop. And it's genuinely quick. This is the first thumb drive I've owned that actually gets warm during a big transfer, which sounds like a quirk but is really the speed doing work through an aluminum body. Reads about in line with the ~100MB/s spec. My one gripe: the swivel only covers one connector at a time, so whichever port is exposed sits open to pocket lint and dust. Minor, but worth knowing before you let it roam loose in a bag. It does more than I need and I won't fill it for a while. If you bounce files between a C-only laptop and older gear, or drag big batches off a phone, it's the right tool.

works great, i love the USBC and USB3.2 optionality in one drive. Only reason i knocked it to 4/5 stars is because it came with some preinstalled stuff and it runs a bit hot. outside of that, great lil device thats way better priced than competitors. it also is pretty quick...not the fastest, not the slowest. i recommend this is you need something that just works and is 'quick enough' for reasonably sized transfers

Used this to get files from a 2012 MacBook Pro to a 2022 MacBook Air. Worked perfect. No formatting needed, just plug and play.

I loved this so much that I bought another one in the larger size. It is very easy to use and pretty fast. I'm not a techie but I figured this out in no time. The quality is good and it will last holding your valuable information.

UPDATE The dual USB-C and USB-A function was very convenient for scanning PDFs with my Canon imageCLASS MFC laser printer with a USB-A port and then transferring to Mac computers over USB-C. I always used the safe ejection feature on the scanner and my computers, but about 4 months into ownership, I began getting occasional corrupted PDF scans. I think it is a problem with the Canon. I reached out to Lexar support, who guided me through recovery tools for the drive. In the end, the issue resolved itself with another scan run on the Canon and use of the safe eject media button on the Canon scanner. I'm not sure if it is the drive or the scanner, but since I always immediately back up my files, I'm not that concerned. It is only annoying when I have scanned 100 pages, safely eject the media and there is no file and/or the PDF is corrupted. I will play around with different scenarios to see what triggers this. Very well made item - has both c and a connections. Fast write speed. I bought it for putting a customers files on - and would certainly buy again for the same purpose. It was easy to use and the dual connections meant it would work on just about anything…. Phone, computer or even TV. I bought the 64GB which was more than enough for this use.
