Very Good Value
In my experience there are few differences in either quality or strength between the products of the various manufacturers and suppliers of this type of window restraint unless you go to the very top of the range and pay extremely high prices (even then the only noticeable difference is the thickness of the cable). So it all comes down to value for money and this product gives exactly that.

Great to stop cats escaping!
I've fitted 12 of these today and about to order some more to do the remaining windows in the house. Our 12 month old cat is indoor with garden access only, but she keeps trying to get out of the windows to see what's out the front of the house. As she's a dumb pedigree and doesn't have the sense to make it as a street cat, we've had to keep the windows closed or on the trickle vent. Now with these locks, we can open the window to a few inches wide and get a proper breeze in, but the cat can't fit out. She was very annoyed after fitting, as we've scuppered her plans for world domination. But from our perspective they work great. I'm sure she'll come around once she realises she can stick her nose out, at least. The cable is a fixed length and can't be cut to size, but it's possible to alter the size of the window opening to whatever suits, depending on how close together you place the two parts. The lock part goes vertically on the fixed frame of the window. The other end goes horizontally, either on the top or bottom edge of the opening window (this allows you to reduce the spacing by moving it further along the window - unlike for normal childproofing where you would attach both parts vertically right next to each other, giving you the maximum opening). Just make sure you check the position several times before you commit, and it's much easier if you pre-drill with a small (2 or 3 mm) drill bit. Do the lock end first as this will be a fixed position. Pre-drill the first hole, screw the fixing on, and get it straight before pre-drilling the second hole (the small drill bit fits through the screw hole). Don't try to pre-drill both holes at once, as the fixing will inevitably shift when you put the first screw in. Once the lock is in place, attach the cable, open the window to the required gap and mark the position of where the other end needs to sit. Pre-drill the first hole again, screw in and check the opening size is OK before doing the second hole (one hole in the wrong place is easily covered by the fixing when it's moved over). Cats can squeeze out of smaller gaps than you think! When screwing into the the frame just bear in mind there's usually a 1.5 inch overhang on the inner edge that the window closes against - you need to position the lock far enough over so you're not screwing through the overhang part and into the window. For the other end, most locking mechanisms on uPVC are surface or channel mounted these days, so as long as you don't get too near the bottom edge you shouldn't meet any hardware. Anyway if you are too close to the bottom edge, the fixing would stop the window closing. Ideally you want the top edge of the fixing to sit 5mm or so beneath the beading (avoid the beading itself as there's glass under it). I did 12 windows and didn't have any issues with the positioning or interfering with the mechanism. The only reason I've dropped a star is the keys feel a bit flimsy (but will probably be fine) and they came with no instructions!
