Don't buy anything else, highly recomment
Wow, our Biewer Terrier absolutely loves this! Within five minutes of unboxing it, he was already curled up inside and completely comfortable. The quality surprised me in the best way, it’s sturdy but still lightweight, and the ventilation is great. I love that he can see out without feeling exposed, and the padding makes it feel really secure for him.The size is perfect for a small dog, and it’s incredibly easy to carry, even for longer periods. The straps are supportive and don’t dig into your shoulders, which is a huge plus. It also comes with a small water dish, which is such a thoughtful touch for outings.Overall, this PetAmi Dog Backpack Carrier has made traveling and getting out with our pup so much easier. Highly recommend for anyone with a smaller dog who wants something comfortable, practical, and well-made!

Sturdy and so fun
This carrier is so worth the money! I have 2 of them, one for each vehicle. I put my 7 week old Chihuahua in it and took her everywhere with me. Now she is almost 2. I just put it up to her and she jumps right in. I take her to the grocery store and no one says a word. Of course she is well behaved so doesn’t bark at people. I think she is well behaved because she has always been allowed to go with me in this carrier. I put a baby blanket in the bottom to make it cozy. It’s very sturdy people are always asking where I got it. Update: It has now been almost 3 years since I wrote the above review. I am ordering a third because my son recently took one of the backpacks for his cat. These have stood up to nearly daily use. The zippers haven’t failed. And people still ask me where I got such a great animal backpack. My Chihuahua is 6 lbs and can easily turn around and lay down inside as well as see out both sides and the front if she sits up. Well ventilated and cozy for her.

Great for traveling with small dogs. Airplanes, maybe
I don't usually write reviews , but I had to for this bag. Olive and I love this bag. I bought this bag to take her on her first trip on an airplane. She was so excited when the bag first arrived she jumped right in it. I carried her around in it a few times before we went on our trip just so she would get used to it. This bag made traveling with her a breeze. She was able to poke her head out and look around, which was good because she's nosey. I had to clip her leash to the clip inside in case she jumped (which she did end up doing a month later). The bag fit snugly under the seat on Spirit Airlines. I don't think we would have had a problem if the lady in front of us wasn't as hefty. I say that bc I could feel the seat sag underneath. As soon as I put her under the seat she had a fit, bit she also doesn't like confined spaces. I opened the little window and she jumped out and slept next to our feet the whole plane ride with her leash still attached to the bag. She did manage to move over to the next seat and lick the lady's ankle in front of my neighbor...oops. Thankfully, the lady had a good laugh and didn't tell on usAnyway... would I recommend this bag??? Yes. Olive loves it. She even uses it in the house. Every now and then I catch her taking a nap in it. It's a very sturdy, well made bag. She's a 6 lb shih tzu. I wouldn't recommend this bag for a medium or big dog because the piece across the back of the bag will dig onto your back. I found it easier to carry her with the bag in front for 2 reasons...1) I had a big heavy bookbag and 2) I could keep an eye on her.As far as taking this bag on a plane, I'm not sure that it will fit under all airline seats as it's on the larger size, but if your dog is calm and can hide by your feet unnoticed then go for it

Best option available on Amazon -- overall good design & product (but for short people)
Overall this is a good product. It's well designed and well made. The material is nice quality. The construction of the materials is quite good. The pack has two mesh side panels that allow air flow and a view for the animal. There also is a mesh top panel that can be unzipped to allow the animal to stick her/his head out. It also includes a sewn-in strap with a clip that can be attached to the animal's collar/harness. I recommend using it, as 2 of the 3 dogs we've used this for have jumped out. I also recommend having your animal in a harness as opposed to a collar in case they do jump out and get hung by the strap. The only drawback is that it is designed for short people (more below). This is why I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars. We've had the opportunity to use it for 3 different dogs on 3-5 mile hikes.1. Dog 1: 15 lb Shi-Tzu - this is about the maximum recommended capacity for the pack. It works well. This dog fits fine but mainly only has the option to sit on the bottom of the pack -- there is no room for her to move around. She seems to like it and is happy to ride after she gets too tired to keep walking. She uses the side panels to look at her surroundings as opposed to sticking her head out of the top panel (like the dogs below).2. Dog 2: 8 lb Poodle - perfect for this dog. The dog has plenty of room to move around and change positions. This dog prefers to stand on his back feet and stick his head out of the top panel while hiking. Very happy pup. He loves it.3. Dog 3: 8 lb Jack Russell Terrier -- The pack is the right size for this dog. Situation is similar to that for the poodle. However, this dog does not have the temperament to stay in the pack. The dog crawls through the top opening (which we keep unzipped but can be zipped shut), puts his back paws on the top of the pack and his front paws on top of my head. This is where the strap that can attach to the collar is a good thing. This dog just prefers to keep hiking until he drops. He doesn't like the pack.Fit/Comfort for the Human:1. The pack is designed for a short (or very short person).2. Although I am too tall for the pack (5'10" tall), I do not find carrying the pack to be uncomfortable. This is because the maximum animal capacity is 15 lbs. Carrying 15 lbs + the weight of the pack (~2 lbs) is not very much weight, so the fit doesn't have to be perfect.3. The bottom of the pack hits me at the bottom of my thoracic spine/top of my lumbar spine. If the pack were heavier, that would be uncomfortable. However, the pack is well padded, so it doesn't bother me even with a 15 lb dog in it.4. The chest strap helps with pack comfort.5. The hip strap is absolutely worthless (unless you are very short). If the pack were heavier, you would need the hip strap to balance/distribute the pack weight. However, since you're only carrying 15 lbs, you can get by without the hip strap. To give you an idea, the "hip" strap hits me (5'10" tall) at the bottom of my rib cage and above my waist. So it's not even close to my hips. The "hip" strap hits my husband (6'4" tall) across his nipples! So it's worthless. But, again, you don't really need it.Overall it's a good product. I think it's the best option available on Amazon. If you're tall and do a lot of hiking, you may want to do further research for a Thule or REI model. I may do this eventually, but it's fine for now.To the manufacturer: if you're interested in making a model for taller people, I'd be happy to provide feedback on fit.

Ferret Friendly!!
We LOVE our new backpack for our ferrets! We travel, run, camp, bike ride, etc.. a LOT, and since I’m a crazy ferret lady who takes them everywhere, this product is perfect for our family! It’s surprisingly comfortable for me to wear (light and doesn’t collapse in on the critters) with my smaller build and short torso, however, the waste and chest straps are small and not ideal for my husband with his more broad chest and wider shoulders. It’s not too big of a deal since they are roughly 7lbs>< total with all 4 in there soaking wet (lol the wee little bits that they are), and since we generally aim to only have 2, ranging from 3/4lbs to slightly less than 2lbs each, in there at a time, it’s no problem for him to manage without the straps being buckled. Much to my pleasure (and my little creatures’ distaste) there are clips to ensure they don’t get the zipper open and make a grand escape (good sturdy feature! My critters definitely put it to the test on our last longer car ride!)! It only fits 1-2 ferrets comfortably (though all 4 of mine like to sleep in a furry ferret puddle, so we’ve had some shorter outings with them all happily snuggled in). I would only recommend to keep the water dish (included with purchase) someplace they can’t get it until they get a SUPERVISED drink (they make short work of destroying that), and stuffing ice packs in the pockets in hotter (for them) weather (especially if 2+ critters insist on piling in). It has great ventilation, but with so many little warm critters piled in, it doesn’t hurt to take extra precautions to avoid over heating. We’re getting a second one soon in the hopes our little crazies will be willing to part in separate backpacks for at least some of our adventures! I often find them all in it even when we aren’t getting ready to leave the house, so I think it’s safe to say they approve of their new ride as well!

AWESOME & COST EFFECTIVE
I was so impressed and pleased with my purchase, especially for this price! It's strong, lets my cat see out of all sides and has small clips on every zipper so that it stays closed, even if your cat is an escape artist.

Well designed and fit perfectly on my flight (Alaska Air)
I am in the process of moving across the country, and decided last minute to fly with my big cat rather thantake him in the moving van, to shorten his suffering. He is a big 11lb 14year old Maine Coon who is all bone and muscle- he has always been active and run thin.I picked this backpack because it seemed big enough for him to sit up if it was upright and stretch out a little when it was under the seat. He is nervous about new situations and loud noises and people, so I was worried about the flight. The bag came in what seemed like a tiny package, then unfolded and seemed impossibly large to fir under the seat, but it measured within the Alaska Air specified size, so I crossed my fingers, gave the cat a (vet prescribed) sedative, put him in the carrier, and headed to the airport. It wasn't hard to get him into the backpack. In spite of being soft sided, all the edges are stiff so it holds its shape well and I could put him in from the side with it standing up and quickly zip it closed. The zippers are all double-ended and have secure clips to keep them from unzipping, so when he scratched at them they slid on the tracks but didn't open at all.He was also reasonably comfortable in the bag once he resigned himself to his fate-- much more so than in his usual hard sided go-to the-vet carrier. When it was upright the bottom of the carrier was big enough that he could lie down snugly in the bottom and sleep, and after some protest that was what he did while we were walking through the airport and then waiting to board. When we got onto the plane the carrier slid right in place under the seat without collapsing. Mickey complained about the change of orientation but quickly settled and slept through most of the flight, only fussing when there was turbulence. The thing that surprised me most was that when we got to my new place I put the carrier on the floor and unzipped it for him, and it became his safe "cave" where he retreated and slept for the first couple days. This was completely unlike his attitude towards his hard-sided carrier, which gets peed on if I leave it out!My big, crotchety, old cat gives this carrier five stars. I couldn't be more satisfied with the purchase.

Love this backpack
I have a 5lb Chiweenie and he fits perfectly in the backpack with plenty of room. It is very good quality, comfortable to wear and an extra bonus is it came with a portable water/food bowl! Very good price for the quality :)

Great backpack - as advertised
I ordered this to transport my 3 year old cat when we move overseas. He is not particularly big or small, around 5 kg and it's definitely spacious enough for him to sit upright or lay down although he'd be a bit too long to stand on all 4 legs. The trip won't be longer than 12 hours and he will be able to get out of it for an hour or so in the middle to stretch his legs. The bag seems good quality on first inspection and comes exactly as advertised, including the colour, which is the exact shade shown on the listing (the lighter blue solid colour option). I would only say that it does look a bit flatter and not as plump as the pictures and the colour is not as matte as in the pictures due to it being a waterproof fabric. This doesn't really make any difference and it still looks good. It seems sturdy and the mesh feels very strong. It also has a leash inside, which is practical, although I will only leave that on him when he's supervised as it's quite long and not adjustable. It needs to be that long to allow the pet to both stand and lay down but could be a hazard if they freak out and wrap themselves in it.We haven't tried it out yet as it just arrived, but I will update this review with more details as we go.

Great pet carrier
I was looking for backpack type of pet carrier for my cats but opted for this one in the end. It doesn't look as exciting as those space capsules one you see online but I'd rather my cats (standard 4-5kg) to be more comfortable in it during their trips to the vet. I like the multiple windows to access/pet the cat in the carrier. Spacious and good ventilation. Also, still holding its shape after almost 2 years of usage.
