Q: How long did it take to break in?

Didn´t require breaking in. Great shoes !

Q: Do these offer good ankle support?

As a lady in my 70's I am not a great hiker, but for country walking these boots offer pretty good support.

Q: How do they perform for uk mountain hiking? i plan to climb some munros in scotland.

I purchased these because I'd had a pair of Hi-Tecs for probably a decade (or more!) that I loved and had finally worn out. I wasn't as happy with these but found them OK. Sturdy and a good fit for my wide foot, I trekked all over Australia with them back in 2018. However, I found them heavy and - though not uncomfortable - not as comfortable as my previous pair. Wore them once along the Southwest Coast Path but then I ended up buying Meindl which I've worn hiking in the Cairngorms and Torridons as well as the Coast Path in Cornwall (and though Meindl is pricier I've really loved/prefer them).

Q: Are these boots lightweight?

Yes these are light- weight. I bought these for my wife for tracking in woods/ heavy under growth and she will sear by them. Sturdy enough to stand up to the use but light and practical enough for everyday wear. Hope this helps.
