Steadyrack Fat Bike Wall Mount, Vertical Storage for 2.8 to 4.5 in Tires

This bike rack is better than I thought it would be. It looks great, it works really well & installation was not that difficult. The pivoting feature is very nice because it gave me plenty of options of where I could install it in my garage. The rack feels very durable & the bike feels very secure on the rack. Installation took about 30 minutes & was not difficult at all. It is more expensive than other bike racks, but I think it was the right choice.

This is an excellent bike rack. I shopped around before deciding on this one. Several key factors won me over: -The ease in getting the bike on the rack. Simply stand the bike on its rear wheel (by engaging the rear wheel brake) and push the front wheel into the rack. This requires very little effort and strength. -The design of the rack, which not only effectively holds the weight of the bike but also prevents the weight of the bike from causing the rack to sag over time. -The rack accommodates bike tire widths up to 2.1 inches, making it usable for most standard bikes. The design of the rack securely "cradles" the front tire. -When the bike is on the rack, it easily pivots left or right for easy storage close to the wall that it's mounted on. -When not in use, the rack folds flat against the wall, protruding less than 4.5 inches. Required hardware is included, another plus. If you're mounting the rack to wooden wall studs, installation is relatively easy. If you're mounting the rack to masonry walls (e.g. cinder block), then installation is a bit more complicated since you will need a drill that can penetrate masonry walls.

Now everyone, including my kids, get their own bikes down AND put them away Pros: - Easy to use - Quick access saves time - saves space - Allows bikes to swing or pivot against the wall - Bikes can be mounted as close as 14” apart and still pivot against the wall - Relatively simple installation and online videos available - Simple to put bike up and down Cons: - not the cheapest solution - Drywall anchors included are inadequate (try and use a wall stud) I use the fender racks to hold two 26” beach cruisers with large front fenders. The bikes are held vertically with the rear tire just off the ground. Just tip the bike up on its rear wheel and roll it onto the rack. Then swing the bike to the side until the handlebar is against the wall (tires remain against wall while bike rotates side to side). Installation considerations: - Installation instructions state bikes can mount as close as 14”. This works for similar bikes (two beach cruisers or two mountain bikes), but with different types the handle bars can interfere with each other. You need to move them farther apart or stagger one higher off the ground (impacts ease of storage/retrieval) - Drywall anchors included are totally inadequate. Do not use these to mount into Sheetrock without a stud. I used Snaptoggle anchors (Home Depot, etc.). One reviewer marked this product down for the poor wall anchors. This isn’t unique to this product, included anchors are usually junk. Weight bearing items usually mount to a wall stud for support. I prefer not to pay extra for a product to include quality anchors, and if needed I purchase my own. If your priorities are space and convenience I strongly suggest you look at this rack. The ceiling racks I used were hard for my wife and I to use, and way too difficult for my kids. The bikes just weren’t getting used. I hope this review is helpful in selecting a bike storage solution.

This Steadyrack bike rack is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also super functional. Installation was easy—the directions were straightforward, and I used Google to convert the drill bit size from metric to standard with no problem. It holds my mountain bike securely and feels very durable and well-built. The swivel function works smoothly, and it makes it so easy to save space in the garage by folding the bike against the wall. Mounting and dismounting the bike is effortless, and it fits perfectly as described. For the price, I’m very pleased. It looks great, performs well, and really helped organize my space. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a solid, sleek, and space-saving bike storage solution.

Worth the money, they are super solid, easy to install, an handle large MBTs (tires). The rack swivel function is smooth and my wife has no problems mount and unmounting her bike. Also, the rear tire bracket mounts solid and keeps tire marks off the wall. I installed them along vertical studs, took about 30 minutes for the two pack, only because I measured everything multiple times and was careful with a level to make them straight. For these sort of projects, I use my own hardware most of the time as the hardware supplied is usually cheap. But not this time, the lags supplied were perfect for the job.

We bought two of these mountain bike racks to install in our garage about a month ago and installed them quickly thereafter. It took some time to configure how we wanted to store our two mountain bikes alongside our two road bikes (for which we bought the classic road bike version of this same rack). And then it took a learning curve to figure out how to install them, but once we got the first one installed, the other three were much faster to install. We were so excited to hang up our bikes and see how easy it was to get our bikes off them! Road bikes had no problem and worked like a dream coming in and out of the rack and swiveling to the sides. Mountain bikes went IN and swiveled to the sides like a dream, but as soon as we tried to pull our mountain bikes OFF the rack - as if we were taking them to go for a ride, we could not budge them! We discovered the metal-loop-rack-tire-rest-thing was getting lodged in between the knobs of the tread on our mountain bike tires! It took one person pushing up on the tire and another person at the handlebars to get the bike off the rack! (By the way, the tires getting stuck were the Maxxis Minion DHF 29X2.50WT and Maxxis Dissector 29X2.40WT. So well within the parameters marketed by the company: Designed for bikes with: Wheel Diameter: 20'' – 29''; Tire Width: 2.1''– 2.8''.) So we emailed the company directly and they had no immediate solution ideas for us. We were bummed for a little bit until we came up with a DIY solution that kind of helped. We bought some half-inch funny pipe in the sprinkler-irrigation section of our local hardware store. Cut it down to size, split it open, and pried it onto the metal-loop-rack-tire-rest-thing (see pictures). That mostly solved it. The Maxxis Minion DHF 29X2.50WT still gets wedged on it, but we found if we just grab the tire and rim and pull, then it will roll off easily enough. Luckily, it seems to have fully solved the problem for the Maxxis Dissector 29X2.40WT wherein we can grab the handlebars and the tire rolls off easily enough. So yeah, nice sturdy racks, little learning curve to install, little on the expensive side, had to solve a problem on our own, but overall we're very happy with the racks compared to the bike organization we had before (which was just piling them up against each other against a wall. Boo.). We hope someone else finds this information helpful! Good luck.

I ended up buying three of these to hand my bikes. Super easy install after determining the correct height for each individual bike. Despite being marketed as mountain bike racks they work perfectly well with road bikes (any bike for that matter!). The construction is very heavy duty. I expect to get several lifetimes of use from them. If you stagger the heights you can store several bikes very close to each other (so the handlebars overlap). Don't neglect to install the rear tire holder - it keeps the rear tire in one spot as you rotate the bike left and right. Oh, lastly, getting the bikes on and off the rack could not be easier - you just stand up the bike and roll the front tire into the rack.

While planning for a garage renovation that took our house from a 1-car garage to a 2-car garage, we wanted to ensure we would be able to store our family's bikes in an efficient manner, but also make it easier for everybody to retrieve them when they wanted to take a ride. The renovation is almost at an end, and you can see the results... these racks are kind of magical in the way they accomplish both these goals at the same time. I'm going to provide some key measurements that helped us with planning and installation. We have staggered the racks in order to space them as close together as possible, which is approximately 13-13/16" apart. (Instructions are in mm rather than inches; hopefully this helps others using the English system of measurement.) We hung the first rack 16" from the wall, so that when the rack is perpendicular to the wall for loading/unloading there's enough room for handlebars as well as the rider's hands. I wouldn't put the racks closer to a corner than that, personally. There are lots of different answers online to the question of how much space is "saved" by swiveling the bikes as close to the wall as possible... obviously everyone's bike has different dimensions so this is a tough one to answer. In our case, the bikes are approximately 44" high, measured from the ground to the top of the handlebars. When swiveled against the wall (as shown), they stick out about 30" from the wall. Granted, if you were mounting them with a more conventional rack, you'd only have the width of the bike sticking out from the wall, and many bikes are 24" wide (from handlebar to handlebar). On the other hand, if you were using a conventional rack you'd only be able to mount two bikes (one on top of the other) in the space I've used for four. Plus I can guarantee that the kids would not be able to quickly take a ride without Mom or Dad's help getting the bike down. This is so much better! One last measurement that greatly affected how we installed the racks: When you swivel the bike to the side, you'll need at least an additional 3" (added to the bike's height) of room from left to right. This takes into account how the rack swivels from the very base of your front tire, which is not tight to the wall but protrudes slightly when the bike is mounted on the rack. In our case, the "new" garage space we claimed is set back from the "old" garage wall. I had hoped to squeeze the bikes precisely into this "new" space (in a different configuration, swiveling left rather than right), but those extra inches meant that the racks had to be hung as shown. They spill over a bit into the "old" space, but it works well especially when you consider that our youngest daughter's bike will eventually be replaced with a larger one as she grows. This leaves room for that growth -- always a good thing! In the end, we've got 4 bikes in approximately 8' of width, and even our youngest can load and unload her own bike. Consider us VERY happy customers. Oh! One last note on installation: As you can see, we've installed our racks into concrete block. Drilling for and installing anchors into masonry is never easy, but since the rack is made in Australia you should be prepared to either suffer through the arduous task of hand-tightening bolts with an adjustable wrench (as I did) or get some metric-sized bolt drivers.

Absolutely brilliant. These are really well made and designed supports; completely bombproof. The fitting instructions couldn't have been clearer, and installation took approx' 45 mins (I bought 3). Although I didn't think I would use it, the pivot feature is really useful. I don't mind paying this sort of price when the quality is good. Oh, and you get a 5 year guarantee.

Function is great for indoor use, but this is not a premium product. The build quality is low and after six months in a covered carport it’s already rusted badly.
