These aren't easy to find! Used this dispenser for years before I got a washer with an automatic dispenser. But that dispenser is nearly impossible to clean, so I'm glad I was able to find my old faithful solution... It works great, is basically self cleaning, and since my last one gave me close to 8 years before I set it aside for the built in dispenser, I have great hopes that this one will be just as durable.

I love this. I live in apt building on 2nd floor, and I hated going up and down stairs to put softener on clothes. Now, no more. This came in handy and it works just fine. A little bit expensive, but OK. Slight residue left, but it doesn't stain clothes after washer stops

I really liked this gadget and it did a great job making my clothes softer. It was a little difficult to fill and clean out, but the softer laundry made it worth the effort. Hopefully the design will improve.

I loved the idea of this, but I had a problem. This was recommended in the information of my new Maytag HE washer. The washer does not have a fabric softener dispenser, rather it has a fabric softener on/off knob. Since I do not use Downey or any other store type liquid, I filled it to the line with vinegar. I have used vinegar for years and always waited the 20 minutes (exactly) until the rinse cycle started to easily lift the lid and pour it in. My former washer was not HE. It filled each load with the same amount of water so I always knew when the rinse cycle was about to begin. NOW FOR THE PROBLEM: MY HE washer fills with water according to the amount of clothes. It takes more time to fill with a larger load and then washes at a different rate than another load. I never knew when the rinse cycle was starting, so I thought this Downey Ball would be a great idea. Apparently the machine and Downey Ball do not like vinegar. I don't know how the plug in the top of the ball opens up at the right time, but after trying it several times, the ball only emptied once, and that was half way. I'm sure this works great with regular softener, but my experience with the vinegar was not satisfactory. Not the fault of the ball, of course. Used with softener as you are supposed to, says my neighbor who I gave the ball to, it works very well.

It's a simple device that works flawlessly due to physics and careful material choice and design. There's no better way to use liquid fabric softener in a top-loading washing machine that doesn't have a built-in fabric-softener dispenser. It's probably a better answer than a lot of the built-in dispensers, too. If you like to use fabric softener, or you have clothes that require it (like Thorlo socks), and you have a top-loading washing machine, you should grab a Downy Ball. It seems like they're discontinued, for some insane reason, so grab one while you can! They do eventually wear out...

So I have a new washing machine & it seems the more upgraded & newer they are the less you can do with them like interrupt cycles particularly rinse which is ridiculous because it's when you pull out drip dry or add softener. I was sceptical initially but took a chance based on reviews & IT WORKS Just tested in a cycle of sheets stopping st each cycle to check it didn't dispense early or not at all. Well it worked!! It dispensed during rinse cycle. This is a life saver & a must have in any laundry. Get one you won't be disappointed. Superfast delivery & arrived in perfect condition with tag & instructions. Première laveuse acheté sans distributeur d'assouplissant, ce n'est apparemment plus standard et plus cher de quelques centaines de dollars si tu en veux un. En lisant les commentaires de cette boule, j'ai eu peur de l'acheter mais pour faire le compromit du prix de ma laveuse, je suis très heureuse et ça fonctionne bien! Il semble rester de l'assouplisseur dedans mais après vérification, c'est de l'eau qui entre après l'ouverture du bouchon. Rare sont les fois où elle ne s'est pas ouverte mais c'est arrivé, rien à en faire une crise cependant. Ça fait plus de 1 an que j'ai cette boule. Malgré que je l'apprécie, si j'avais à faire mon achat de laveuse aujourd'hui, je paierais le 200-300$ de plus pour avoir un distributeur. En résumé : Si, comme moi, votre achat de laveuse est déjà fait : Je recommande la boule Downy! Sinon, payez-vous donc le luxe du distributeur :)

Un vrai charme pour répartir l’assouplissant pendant le lavage. Pareil à celle qu’on avait dans les années 1995!
