I charge my Makita 18V batteries at home, but on the road, I was shut-down when my batteries were used up. In order to have mobile charging capability I needed something that could charge off either the cigarette lighter or from a USB outlet. I got this lighter-plug charger because more current can come from the cigarette lighter than from the USB outlet. That equates to faster charging. @@This unit comes in the standard “Makita Blue” color and fits my “brand name” and knock-offs great. The cord is nice and stout and the actual charging unit is very compact. It has good charging indicator lights and clear descriptions of what each light status mean (in a clearly printed label pasted front and center on the charger). The diagrams are large enough in size so even my old rheumy eyes can read it! @@The unit itself is about the size of a battery, but considerably lighter in weight. It sits atop the heavier battery and that keeps it stable on sharp turns and when dodging critters. The plug head is very solid with a nice, sturdy feel. The plug contains a 10A fuse for over-current protection. It is only a 2-pole charger (no poles for battery temperature). So the temperature default light must indicate the charger temp.

Good product and packaging

It survived the storm it got wet but because it is plastic it did not seem yo hurt it . In our bad Texas thunderstorm we had every thing hot soaked all night. Did not know package came.

We moved to France so the original Kobalt chargers won't work since they are 120V only. This can handle 240V and I haven't had any issues charging my original batteries.

Does not charge. Lights up like it’s charging but hours later and it’s still acting like it’s charging but is still the same.

No problem fitting this to any of my Milwaukee batteries. Plugged into my car outlet it certainly does charge them. In theory the 2amp output should fully charge my 4Ah batteries in around 2 hours, but in practice it's probably more like 3 as the charge rate will slow down as the battery fills up. Useful if you're working in a remote location, but not as a charging method to rely on. If you regularly need to charge batteries from a vehicle a better solution is probably an inverter and a normal mains charger.

Perfect little charger, I had an issue with my other charger only accepting some Makita style batteries, this one accepts them all and charges quickly

Could not get a certified product to work for a year. I kept purchasing at stores and returning because I couldn’t change my batteries. Then I thought, maybe 🤔 I could find something on Amazon and this product did the trick. Charged my battery so I could use my tools. I was extremely frustrated with not being able to use them for a year due to battery charger not working from the manufacturer. Thank you for this product!
