I've tested these luggage scales against 2 precision kitchen scales, which both agreed that a bag of dog food was 1496g. These Salter luggage scales measure the same product as 1.45kg, so there was a 46g difference in these, which is just over a 3% error. Unfortunately, I couldn't be sure that any other scale in the house was 100% accurate to test with heavier items (would it deviate by 3% or would the difference remain 46g?). In all fairness, even assuming a 3% error, this should be sufficient for travel bags. I certainly wouldn't want to risk pushing my weight limits to within 3% of my allowance. A 3% deviation on a 10kg bag would equate to 300g, which I think is within reasonable accuracy range for the purpose. It comes with batteries included. Functions well and the strap & hook system works a lot better than the metal hooks I've seen on other luggage scales. All for £9.99 (at current price) seems fair.

I've been using this luggage scale for a while now, and despite its small and simple appearance, it's been an absolute godsend for cutting down my airport stress. My family and I jet off several times a year, lugging everything from my basic backpack to my wife's jam-packed suitcase, not to mention the bizarre collection of toys and clothes our kids insist on bringing. The last thing we fancy is a proper faff at the check-in desk because we've gone a few kilos over. What I love about it is how lightweight and compact it is - barely takes up any space in the bag! With a 50kg limit, it's more than up to the job, particularly when we're hauling our camping gear up to the Scottish Highlands. The strap clips onto handles without any bother, and the digital display is crystal clear. At less than a tenner, I'd say it's brilliant value for money. Mind you, there is one slight niggle - you do have to hoist the bag yourself while weighing it, which can be a bit of a pain if your luggage is particularly heavy. But all in all, it's a proper handy gadget to have. Does exactly what it says on the tin and saves any drama at the check-in desk. Dead chuffed that they even chuck in the batteries - that's a nice touch.
