Good value and quality pasta
This is a very standard supermarket dried pasta that performs reliably as an everyday store cupboard staple. The fusilli holds its shape well when cooked and has a consistent bite if you keep to the recommended cooking time. It is fairly forgiving in the pan, and the spiral shape does a good job of holding onto sauces, especially thicker tomato based or cream based dishes. If overcooked, it does soften quite quickly, so it benefits from being checked a minute or so early rather than left unattended. Flavour wise, it is neutral with a mild wheat taste, which is what you would expect from basic durum wheat pasta. It does not add anything distinctive on its own, but that is not really its purpose. It is designed to act as a base for sauces rather than contribute flavour itself. I have mainly used it in simple weeknight meals like pasta with tomato sauce, tuna, and vegetable mixes. It works well for batch cooking as it reheats reasonably without turning overly mushy, although it does firm up slightly after chilling, which is normal for this type of pasta. From a value for money perspective, it sits in a very reasonable budget range. You are getting a large 500g pack that stretches across multiple meals, and there is very little practical difference in everyday cooking compared to more expensive branded versions. The main value comes from consistency and convenience rather than any premium quality difference. Overall, it is a dependable, no nonsense fusilli. It does exactly what it needs to do, providing a reliable base for a wide range of simple meals without drawing attention to itself, which is often exactly what you want from pasta.
