Carhartt Women's The Essential Ashland Pant

These are great pants for me! Recognizing that bodies come in all shapes and sizes, here is why they are great for me and might be great for you. The Fit: I am typically a size 8 or M pant, and I find most standard length pants to be just about an inch too short for me. I am 5'7", 138 lbs, 28 inch natural waist. I bought a size 8 Tall, and these pants fit almost perfectly, with just a little room to spare. When they go through the washer and dryer for the first time I imagine they will shrink just a bit, based on other reviews I've read. They sit at my waist just below the belly button. Not too high, not too low. That sweet spot that's very comfortable, without looking frumpy. Love the length. They are long enough - I have about an inch to spare - so that if they do shrink in the dryer, they will still be long enough for me. (I prefer pant legs to break at /over the top of my foot, not above or at my ankle.) This is a huge plus for me! Color: These pants are a nice dark olive color. In dimmer light they look almost brown. I find this color to be versatile enough to go with multiple shirt colors on top, at least in my wardrobe. Fabric: It feels like a nice sturdy fabric. Feels like a heavy denim pant. But there's a nice little bit of stretch and flexibility to the fabric if you need to bend and move. They would probably be more comfortable for traveling than a pair of jeans would be. (I'm planning to put that to the test soon and will report back if I determine otherwise.) And final note, the pockets are fantastic. I can't speak to other body types but for my size, weight and height, these are absolutely a perfect pair of pants!

Carhartt's reputation precedes itself, and I was even more surprised at how much I needed these pants in my life but didn't know it. The pockets!!!! Actual pockets that fit more than just lip balm! These are the best work pants I now own. I work as a technician in higher education so I'm frequently in weird positions repairing various things, or working with chemistry. The fabric of these pants is sturdy but very comfortable. I like the natural fibres. I don't think the pants on their own would keep me extremely warm on a cold day without layering underneath, but in temperate climates the material is perfect. Not to warm. The waist height was as expected. For those wondering about the fit, my measurements are hip-40", height-4'11", waist- 31". I purchased the size 10 short - the shortest length available and it was still slightly a bit long to wear with my sneakers, that was easily remedied by rolling up the legs a couple times and made the length perfect. The waist was definitely bigger than what I need and I had a bit of a gap, but I purchased the size that would fit my hips and used a carhartt belt to cinch the waist. Otherwise the pants are amazing. I love how many pockets there are and the placement of them. They have a little bit of stretch and end up relaxing after a few hours of wear. I came back to purchase a second pair and the quality is so good that I think these will last a good long while. Update 07/11/2025: The pants are still great but I noticed a difference in the number of pockets in two different colours. The black has additional pockets on the left, while the asphalt has fewer. I bought the same style the only difference was supposed to be the colour. Not sure why.

Pros: Color doesn't fade, even after multiple washes and being covered in polishing compound all day everyday, fit really nice, fit over work boots, really nice for daily outfits. Cons: Fit pretty tight around the upper thighs causing constant tear in that area and a pair would last someone doing heavy-duty work 2-3 months at most due to not much room to stretch and reach.

I love the full size pockets and the rise is perfect to keep my butt covered while working. The material is definitely lesser quality than Carhartt used to be and holes wear in on the inside of the legs quicker than it should for the price point. But the best to be found for women’s work pants when you are in physical work fields

So comfortable, easy to clean the intense grime i work in, off. I love the pockets, not like most women's pants with pockets that barely fit a chapstick, these have actual pockets like men's jeans do. Worth every penny!

Love the color, and this is my own fault for thinking womens pockets would ever be big enough for me.

Best work pants! I do Lawncare and these are perfect. They protect my legs while strung trimming, they’re long so they cover my boots, and extra pockets are a bonus.

Got my regular Size 6. 28” waist 39” Lower hip and it fit well. The waist does have a gap but a belt could fix that. Good length too for a 5’3 person. They make the hips look really good. just a nice overall fit and material. Note: the pics don’t show the many pockets which come in handy, kinda similar to cargo pants but fitted.

Fit small normally size 8 had buy 12

Quality is decent, fabric is nice, but sizing is confusing. Size 4 is super tight, size 6 is an absolute sack on me. I’m 125lbs, 5’6” with a lean athletic build

Love them but they do run a little smaller than most brands so size up. Otherwise the are durable without being scratchy and move with you.

Good quality material, fit is alright, could fit better.
