児童英会話講師の仕事に役立つかと思って買ってみましたが、どうやら対象はアメリカのデイケアで働く人のためというところが強くちょっと違うかなという感じでした。 しかし、英語を教えるという観点からではなく、子育てについて英語で読んでみるという見方をすると、わりと役に立つ本だと思います。子供とできるアクティビティーや歌（18ヶ月までなのでアクティビティーといってもかなり限られますが）、子供の成長について、オススメCDや本など、情報は満載です。ただ、歌などには楽譜がないので、インターネットで調べるか、他の本で調べるかしないとわからないのが結構あります。（もしくは、筆者が作った歌で「〜のメロディーで歌いましょう」と書いてありますが、アメリカの童謡等を結構知らないと、わからないものが多いです。）

If you are new to infants.. this will give you a good start and help you with planning their curriculum

The book is very well laid out, every sign is described in detail (they even provide a link to online videos demonstrating exactly how each sign is done). Chapter one spends a good bit of time explaining why teaching babies sign language is beneficial and answer various question parents may have. One point that encouraged me is that teaching infants sign language does not hinder them speech, but rather one study showed it actually can accelerate when a baby will start to speak. We bought this as a gift for new parents some years ago and their baby girl really did well with it.
