SeeIms to work well
We have quite a lare pool (20,000 gallons) and chlorine granules were getting too expensive. Chlorine blocks never quite kept the water clear but with this device and two chlorine floaters, everything is good. Might buy another an forget about the chlorine floaters.

Best pool ionizer I have owned yet.
This works great. Easier maintenance than the Floatron we owned last year as the spring is removable, so you can just soak it in vinegar and keep it shining like brand new. The copper anode is a bit smaller, but seems higher quality than the floatron anode as well. . Overall, this one is just the right size to just leave in our pool, minus the cleaning, of course. Our $260 floatron only lasted about a year until the solar panel started to peel from the sun and stopped working. Floatron blamed me and said it is unlikely it would break. So, I would rather buy a couple of these and have a spare ready to go than ever deal with Floatron again.

I am a believer...
I have had pools all my life and algae is always there to some extent. Although I cannot say my pool is now 100% algae free, it is pretty darn close. This ionizer has my pool cleaner than it ever has been. It is absolutely crystal clear. The instructions were a little weird, but there isn't really much to it. You just put it in the water and let it do it's thing. Cleaning it is pretty easy and must be done every two weeks and takes only 5-10 minutes. I use the included metal brush and a heavy duty Scotch Brite pad.I have found that this has gotten better the longer it has been in the pool. The first few weeks, I remained skeptical, but now I am sold. I just wish I had known about these ionizers before. I think this one is great. I have a somewhat large pool, 18x36 with a 10.5 foot deep end (diving board). I am only using one ionizer and it works great. Early on, I continued to shock the pool once each week, but I stopped that as there is no need. I would tell you to be sure to clean the ionizer every 2 weeks and give it a few weeks before passing judgement on it's effectiveness. Believe me, it works!I just read the negative comments and I'm not sure what happened with those people? Purple pool, etc.? But my experience has been great. The condensation in the solar panel has never stopped the unit working. So far now, I have used my ionizer for one year. I live in TX, so I have left it in the pool year-round. I am just about to replace the element, so that lasted one year for me. I assume the solar part will continue working, but if it stopped, I would definitely buy another one.

Disappointed
For whatever reason, it turned my water green. Two years ago I replaced my pool man with two robots that keep my water clean and clear along with the necessary chemicals. Every day I put in a skimmer (Beta) and a bottom vac (Nautilus Neptune). I was frustrated with the day after professional cleaning: if the wind blows I would have to clean my pool the remaining six days. These two clean every day. I like new products and thought the ionizer might eliminate some chemicals. I've spent over a week getting my pool back to clear - cleaning the filters daily and over $100 in pool algae and clear water products. It didn't work for me.

Can help but does not eliminate pool work
I went through two models before getting one that actually works. Possibly a fluke. What is not a fluke is these ionizers reduce chemical use but in my experience do not eliminate their need. Lessons learned the hard way: (1) begin by placing the ionizer in a bottle of pool water and let it sit in the sun for 15 minutes. Test the water with one of the test strip that come with the ionizer. If this ionizer is working, your strip should turn pink. If it's not working, send it back and get another one. Test again, etc. Note: these test strips do a lousy job of showing the level of copper below "pink," so you don't really know exactly how much copper is in the water. Pink is too much. Anything in the orange color means probably things are OK. (2) Get separate test strips that let you check Chlorine levels and pH. (3)You need to maintain a chlorine level of 1-3 ppm. (4) You also need to maintain a pH of around 7. (5)You probably will need to buy both chlorine tablets and Arm & Hammer Clear Balance, or the like, plus floating dispensers. (6) If the pool starts to get green, you will have to resort to using Shock at least once. (7)You still will need to manually clean up leaves and debris. I like the Aiper 1000 for that chore. (8) If you have leaves flying in all the time you will either need a surface robot or keep down the leaf debris with daily hand-skimming with a net. (9) Bottom line: if you can afford it, hire a pro to do this work.

Works great!!!
We have had our pool for 14 years. Every year we have struggled with algae, spending lots of money on chlorine and other products. We decided to give this a try. Surprisingly enough, very little to no algae since we put this in our pool. We clean it every 2-3 weeks. It’s easy to clean and easy to use. Put it in the pool and forget about it. Our pool water is crystal clear and we couldn’t be happier!!! It is a great value for the money. I wish someone had told us about this years ago. We would have saved hundreds of dollars. You still have to test the water, but it requires A LOT less chlorine than before!!!

Just what was needed
Great product, used with floating chlorine tab, nothing else, used for complete swimming season and water remained perfectly clear and clean, saved a lot of work and chemicals, should be able to get 2-3 years before copper needs replaced

damaged
The product I received was damaged. Cheap, fragile plastic .

Great product
1st time hearing or using this device, notice the changes in the 1st couple of days and now it's always clean and only using a chlorine table in a floaty.

Worth having
Did that it said it would, clears the pool within a few days and didn’t need it the rest of the summer, crystal clear water and chlorine maintenance was minimal

Solves a big problem
Reduces time chlorinator is running. Less chemicals needed. I have converted to Mineral pool and this thing helps achieve good hygiene with little chlorination.
