Built Like a Tank โ Exactly What a Toolbox Should Be
I've had cheap toolboxes my entire adult life. Flimsy latches that break after a year, lids that warp and stop closing flush, handles that crack under the weight of a fully loaded box. When I finally decided to invest in something better, I landed on the Stanley One-Latch 19-Inch and I genuinely wish I had made the switch years ago. The construction is immediately impressive. From the moment you pick this box up you can feel the difference in material thickness and overall build quality. The walls are rigid and substantial, the lid closes with satisfying precision, and the whole thing just feels like it was built to take punishment. I've dropped it, kicked it across the garage by accident, and tossed it in the back of my truck more times than I can count. Not a crack, not a warp, not a single complaint. The one-latch design is deceptively clever. One smooth motion opens the entire lid cleanly and securely. It sounds like a small thing until you've wrestled with a two-latch box with greasy hands in poor lighting โ then you appreciate how elegant the simplicity really is. The latch itself is solid metal and shows zero signs of wear after heavy regular use. The 19-inch size hits a perfect sweet spot. Large enough to carry a comprehensive set of hand tools, deep enough to accommodate longer handled screwdrivers and pliers with room to spare, but compact enough to fit easily on a shelf, under a workbench, or on the passenger seat of a truck. The removable tray on top is well-sized and perfectly positioned for the tools you reach for most often. The handle is comfortable and strong โ no flex, no wobble even when the box is loaded to capacity. Stanley has been making tools and tool storage for over 175 years, and this box is a reminder of exactly why that reputation has endured. Simple, durable, and perfectly executed. If you want a toolbox that will outlast a dozen cheap alternatives, stop looking. This is the one.

Excelent box
So far I am very happy with this tool box. It is good size, sturdy, has plenty of room, and the locking mechanisms snap into place easily. As advertised this is a "one-hand open" box which is great feature. Too many times I have bought plastic tool boxes that use the traditional double top locks for which, inevitably, one breaks rendering the box useless....unless of course you want to chance hauling it around and have the other one break dropping all your tools on the ground. The reason for this is that the heavy tools can shift and add more weight to one side of the box creating a stress point on one or the other of the two locking flanges. After awhile one is going to give. This particular Stanley solves that problem with a solid, middle lock you can feel is sturdy when carrying the box around. As a sidebar, some will argue to just get a metal tool box and you won't have the one-side break issues you do with plastic...and that is true. However, that also means additional weight which, to me, I want to avoid. Like most who use a toolbox this size, I have it loaded with lots of items so I don't have to keep making "garage runs". The last thing I want is more weight that isn't necessary. In that regard understand this review is NOT for everyday professional use as part of a trade, but rather a solid box for around the home. Overall, I rate this Stanley high for that. Oh, as just a tip for those who may not have thought of it, if you have a sprinkler/drip system and/or an outdoor landscape lighting system, save yourself some time and buy a couple smaller boxes to put in the specialty items for those jobs. It has made my life a lot easier than trying to carrying one "catch-all" box. Broken sprinkler head or burst drip line? Grab the "Irrigation" box, need a light switch changed out or want to add a dimmer? Grab the "Electrical" box. Need to...well, you get the picture.

A decent toolbox, priced right (19" version).
. Upfront advice: Well made, with more design hits than misses, this box will do very nicely for most light jobs. $16 with shipping is a good value. Pros: The box is well molded and sturdy, with clean mold lines, no excess plastic flash, and no unusual warpage. The handle is sturdy, and I especially like the three-hinge design of the lid. The parts bins in the lid are nicely sized, both overall and in terms of the individual compartments in the bins. Some of the compartments are large enough to easily accommodate flux brushes, short segments of pipe, cable fittings, etc. Also, the bin lids are properly hinged, instead of just being attached by a strip of flexible plastic like some others. Cons: The inner tray is not full size. This is common in larger toolboxes, in order to leave vertical space for bulkier items like power tools. However, most people would not carry such items in a box this size, so the dwarf tray is pointless and annoying. At least it's a full length tray; only the front-to-back width is shortened, which makes it not as bad as it could have been. The latches on the lids of the parts bins are a bit skimpy, and don't secure as well as I'd like. I can easily envision many spilled parts if the box is dropped or knocked over. The weirdest design flaw, however, is that the inside bottom of the box is not flat! The bottom is angled along the front and back edges, meaning that anything beyond a certain size will not pack flat against the bottom. It will sit at least partially raised from the bottom, which wastes space. Square or rectangular items like parts containers cannot be packed cleanly into the box from front to back because of these angles. Bottom line: A good deal at $16 including shipping. This box is ideal for small dedicated jobs or a light duty general tool box. Use a little gentle heat to slightly reshape the latches on the parts bin lids so they clasp more tightly.

Well built - Functional - Big tool box
2-6-13. What the 16" tool box didn't have in size, the 19" more than makes up for. This Stanley STST19410 19-Inch Toolbox is a rather large tool box with some interesting features. The top has two compartments that open (under the yellow covers). To the left of the handle the compartment is divided into four section and to the right the compatment is divided into two long sections. This is a nice feature and several small tools will fit into the longer sections. The latch is cleverly designed for one hand opening by pulling up on the spring-loaded latch. When the top is released it automatically relatches securely, unless a tool in the box stops it. The latch is big enough to stay latched under a loaded box. Under the lid is a 3/4 width carryout tray. The 3/4 width tray is as long as the tool box and provides space for larger tools to fit without having to be under the tray. It provide about an inch of room for the full lenght of the box. The overall construction is solid and it feels sturdy and durable. Nice tool box.

Great toolbox with plenty of organization.
This is an excellent buy for the price! I was looking for a simple toolbox to hold my basic ratchet set, hammer, screwdrivers, etc. I needed something that wasn't too bulky, yet, had some room to hold all of my tools, and some misc. screws, etc.I looked, and even purchased another toolbox locally, but it was too bulky and cheaply made. I then saw this toolbox on Amazon and it seemed to be a good price, so I figured it was worth ordering. Despite this, I didn't want to place an order if I wasn't sure it would be "the right toolbox," so I decided to check it out at my local big box store. I was impressed with the box in person, but it was over $10 more at my local store, so I ordered one off of Amazon (for around $16) and have been happy with it ever since. It really is easy to open with one hand, and makes organizing tools a snap. I noticed there are larger and smaller versions of this if you have more, or fewer tools. Regardless of which on you chose, this is a great purchase.

Perfect toolbox for our household
This is a sturdy toolbox that is generous in size with a removable tray and easy access bins on top. I like the one handed open/close feature. I chose this size because it easily holds all of the basic tools and there is extra room for some bulkier items. The lift out tray is the full length but not the full width of the tool box allowing a little extra room. The bins on top securely hold items like nails for easy access. I would recommend this well designed, rugged tool box for the home.

Great toolbox!
We love this toolbox. As we have been slowly building our tool collection as home owners, we finally needed more than a shoe box to fit all our stuff in. This one is great because there are compartments for small things like nails and screws but the actual box is a pretty good size. It fits all our stuff besides the drill (which came in its own case anyway) and our level. It also has a tray that you can remove so you don't have to stack up everything and you can remove it easily. The latch is also nice because you can just press it shut and you can open it easily by just pulling up on the latch. Highly recommend!

TOOLBOXES R US!!
There are many molded plastic toolboxes out there for buyers to choose from. Almost every tool manufacturer and DIY store has one it seems. The quality and price is similar but the real advantage of buying thru Amazon is knowing the quality is there, price will be competitive and it will come to you in about two days, guaranteed! It's just one minor stress in your life Amazon has looked after for you.

It's great as a 'sidekick' if you don't want to have ...
Having moved from a house to an apartment, I cleaned out my large plastic container on wheels, gave away everything I wasn't using and kept only the hardware items I need. This tool box is solid. The two small compartments on the lid are very convenient for smaller hardware pieces (nails, screws, hooks, etc.). The inside tray is large enough for a hammer and screwdriver but not so large that I can't see what's inside the box. I keep the toolbox on the top shelf in a closet and when I grab the handle to bring it down I'm not afraid that it'll pop out or that the lid snaps open. It's great as a 'sidekick' if you don't want to have to drag your large toolbox when you only need a few tools.

It's decent, a little bit flimsy plastic but overall not bad. I just needed a spare toolbox for some not so often used stuff, I don't know if I'd want to use it daily but for a backup, it does the trick. The top compartments are handy.
