is the mandolin similar to playing the bazuki

Similar but it's usually tuned differently. I usually tune it GDAD. I often strum and pick it more like a guitar. Played through an amp with a bit of reverb it gives a great rhythm sound.

I just received it and the truss rod is visible sticking out of the sound hole. Am I meant to use allen key myself to 'screw' it in to neck?

Any adjustments to a truss rod should be made by a qualified or experienced instrument repairer. Please do not adjust a truss rod without training, as doing so can have an adverse effect on the instrument very quickly. Truss rods are adjusted with very small quarter turns at long intervals to allow the wood to react to the change in tension and pressure.

How is the tuning on this i have a blue moon tenor mandola and the tuning is shocking.

The BB-15 info says it has a truss rod but the BB-15E info doesn't mention one. Does the BB-15E have one?

Good morning. I'm no expert on these things, but having examined my bouzouki there does seem to be a truss rod. Adjustment seems to be by use of an allen key at the tone hole. Hope this helps.
