Product Description Tag Junior, the amazing little book explorer, is a great way to encourage toddlers to explore books. Tag Junior introduces preschool skills through fun stories and playful book based activities. Expand the Learning LibraryThere are 15 books to choose from, including favourite characters from Thomas to Toy Story and Winnie the Pooh. Each has a different theme and introduces different learning concepts and skills. See all Tag Junior books. Smart PenConnect the Tag Junior to a computer to download each book, then it detects tiny markings on the surface of each page to precisely read words, recognise characters and other elements. Full of SurprisesAs well as reading the story, the pen reacts to other elements on the page, helping kids identify and learn about different characters and objects. A Great Way to Start Exploring BooksTouch the Tag Junior to the words on the page to hear the story read aloud, in lively character voices. Fun and easy to use, the Tag Junior book pal can store up to five books, allowing children to easily move from one book to another and comes with an included book "If I Were". More Ways to LearnEach Tag Junior book introduces a different preschool skill—such as the alphabet, counting or social play—through 24 playful activities and more than 130 audio responses. Open-ended questions and fun sound effects encourage children to take charge, as they touch any part of any page to bring words, pictures or activities to life! Designed with Young Children in MindThe Tag Junior Book Pal has been designed to allow children to grip with their palm, as children are still developing their fine motor skills and find this easier to use rather than a pen shape. You can even personalise Tag Junior Book Pal with your child's name or nickname. Connect and Share AchievementsConnect the Tag Junior to LeapFrog Learning Path to see specific play and learning information based on your child's use of the toy, including areas where they are making progress or need more support. Lovely present for book mad youngsters
Bought this for my 2 year old as his 'big' present for christmas and he loves it.Admittedly he does love to press the buttons on the tag for a little while before he gets down to using the books but this is the nature of a naturally curious toddler. At the moment he loves exploring his books via the sounds the pictures make (eg: a train whistle in the thomas book) using the tag instead of listening to the paragraphs but this will come with time and I knew buying it that it would be a toy he would grow and develop with. Its a lovely medium for encouraging children to read more or even if your toddler has started to skip his day time nap its a great way of letting them have some peaceful rest time. Sit them on a bean bag with a tag junior and it tricks them into having some rest for half an hour.Another great learn and grow toy by leapfrog which helps make reading even more fun :)

You need this if you want to use the books
By itself it does nothing. You need this toy if you are using tag junior books. It connects to the Internet and downloads audio for the books you buy. You need it or else you are just buying very expensive books. The device, once you download what it needs, helps you to read the books and hear all the sounds. It also tracks what the child is doing and gives you updates and progress reports if you sign on to view them. They let you know what the child has clicked on the most, etc.As far as I can tell the items does not turn off by itself. It is easily turned on and off repeatedly by clumsly little hands. It seems to be well made, requires batteries which can run out quickly if it isn't turned off.So far it has held up to multiple drops on hard floors. Here's to hoping that continues!!

Great help for reading.
I love this, I struggle to hold books to read to my child, so this was great, not just to help with that but it also gave him some independence to be able to read himself as well as teach him letters, numbers and related sounds etc. You can also program it to say their name, so when you switch it on it speaks to them.

junior tag
I found this a very good educational product although a little dissapointed with the books, they are expensive ,my granddaughter played with the book for 3 minutes so not such good value for money . You will need to spend lots to gain a good library of interactive books.Good concept but a bit costly.

best tag for 2 year olds than normal tag
After a lot of investigation on what to buy tag junior vs normal tag, i bought tag normal for my 26 mos old. I thought tag junior is a big waste of money coz it cant save more than 5 books and cant read all the books but i had unfortunately overlooked one thing and that is the motor functioning of a 2 yr old. it was not so easy for him to hold the pen. As he loved to read he struggled with the pen by changing hands, holding up, down ,sliding but it just tired him after minutes. I knew after a week of trying that i had to get the junior, no matter, it lacks a lot of advantage.for me the best thing to get from a toy was to see my child using it to the max. Now after i got this, he is happily playing with it. Wish i hadnt bought the senior tag too early because i fear by the time i can use the pen tag,in 1.5 to 2 yrs time, it will be replaced by new gadgets and go to waste!
