Lightweight and portable, perfect!
My old Kindle 4 had served me well for 12+ years but it was time to upgrade to a new version to keep it active in the Amazon ecosystem and and buttons were pretty worn out. Very pleased with the new Kindle (11th Gen, 2024), the match green colour is really nice too. It is faster, the touchscreen works well to interact with and much faster for typing anything versus the old one with its multi-direction keys! Setup was simple to follow and syncing my content to the new device from my Amazon account was quick and easy. The user-interface is somewhat different from my old device, manly that it is more cover artwork-based rather than just showing book titles. This works fine for me and I haven't had any issues finding the books I am after. The new Kindle is slightly smaller than my old one but with about the same amount of text displayed on screen and the same font size. The screen itself is easy to read from, I use a Kindle specifically as I find the standard text appearance on screen easier to read than physical books or light-emitting screens. Speaking of which, the front light is quite adjustable in brightness (although only a blue-tone white light is available). I don't really use the light much as I generally have a table lamp or other light on anyway. Overall I am pleased with the Kindle 11th Gen and would recommend it. Particularly to anyway looking for a lightweight and portable-sized eReader.

Very nice device
This will be my 3rd kindle . My most recent was a kindle fire , tbf more of a tablet. Therein was the problem ( battery , setup ,syncing ) not going into it . This one , Gen 11 . I had misgivings as it was a bit small. I also bought the kindle cover (recomended). So clipped the cover on and pressed the button. Set up was supernatural ,it new my account ,auto connected to my wifi ,found where i was on my present read. Wow . Hardly a button pressed, no passwords again ...wow. As previously mentioned ,its size . I was wrong ,great size ,easy half size of fire. Light ,which i didnt know i wanted . Screen size is good , matt finish . Brightness was fine for me out box ,i think you can mod to suit. Font ect you can suit yourself . You change pages by tapping side of screen. No buttons for swipeing. Now this was the game changer for my ole brain, the cover . Once i was finished ,i just closed the cover and it switched off or slept , opened up and straight to where i was . Battery doing very well ,it hasnt put a foot wrong . 5/5. Cover is a bit pricey but go for it. (Seperate review).

Attractive and lightweight but not perfect
This new kindle is light and attractive, and I love the green colour. I also love the fact that it holds thousands of books, because I have over 4,000 kindle books and love the fact that I can read whichever one takes my fancy, even when I am nowhere near an internet connection. It gives me a thrill to think that I have such a library on a machine that will fit in my handbag. There's no way I could own all those books if I had to put them on bookshelves in my house. Personally, I am happy with the backlight and the way the print size can be easily adjusted, so that I can read it at night without my glasses. Those are the positives. There are negatives, too, though. Why have I had to buy three kindles in five years? They all still work, providing I don't mind switching them on and off frequently when they freeze. But I do mind. And why are the different options so hard to find? I spent an hour yesterday looking for one and completely failed. My old kindle, the same one as this, lasted a year before it began to freeze. This one froze when I was uploading books and had not even begun reading. The previous one again, a paperwhite, froze three or four times a week. Why? This was not a problem on my older, cheaper kindles. It is not difficult to unfreeze them - I just switch them off and then, after a pause, on again - but it is a nuisance. Another thing - it is ridiculous to say that the batteries last 6 weeks if you use them for half an hour a day . Who reads for half an hour a day, especially on holiday? It would be more honest simply to say how many hours they can be expected to last before they need a recharge. Personally, I recharge mine every night, perhaps because I am retired and have a lot of time to read. I am not keen in the way one deletes downloaded books, either. It should be much easier to choose which ones to clear. Nevertheless, I love my kindle and take it with me everywhere I go.

Well worth buying
Having bought a Paperwhite, I was initially disappointed with the battery life. This steadily got worse until it was almost unusable just after any refunds etc were possible. I saw these and read the reviews and all were generally good. I bought one hoping that it would fit the bill. Although I've left writing the review until now, I have used it a good deal in this time. One charge lasts such a long time. A little smaller than the paperwhite, but a great product & wish this was avaliable when I bought the paperwhite. I had been a bit worried whether I'd get used to it rather than a book, but now I'm using it a lot. I probably avoided the paperwhite due to the battery issue. This is weeks/ months between charges

Really enjoying it
It’s quite small so at first I was really? Did I just paid £90+ for this? But then once I got to read it felt so great, the size is perfect! I can easily hold it in one hand and read. I have a toddler who often needs to be resettled and while she falls to a deep sleep I just read and read and read and really enjoyed myself. I didn’t buy a cover as I don’t think it needs it , I also didn’t buy a plug just used one of the Apple ones the older ones the bigger looking ones and it charged so fast , cable is included though. My husband is eyeing it up now haha I told him hand off! I love reading but I stopped once I became a mum because of obvious reasons and don’t get me wrong I love a book the feel the smell of the paper just love it but now when I try to read if my little one is near me asleep she rustles every time I turn the page as that sound just trigger her I guess she even woke up few times so I can read a book lol but anyway this is perfect and I am so very happy! I would advise just get it on its own and later purchase the add ons such as cover , screen film etc as you may not need them.

Easy to use Kindle
Sadly, some weeks ago, I lost my old and well used Kindle. I ordered this new one never thinking it would be as good as the old one. I was wrong! This lightweight, sleek new model is just fantastic. It charges quickly, the screen is easy to read and the settings and other controls simple to use. I would highly recommend this model to all Kindle users, new or old.

Upgraded from 2015 Paperwhite to 2024 Base Kindle. Was it worth it?
I've had the 2015 7th gen Kindle Paperwhite for 11 years now and it's still just as good as the day I purchased it! I was already incredibly impressed with this paperwhite model and questioned how much they could truly improve upon such a great design. Was it worth buying the 2024 base Kindle model? Well for me: absolutely! Originally I was drawn in superficially by the wonderful matcha green color of the base Kindle but I then started diving deep into the specs vs the 2024 paperwhite model. A lot of people comment that the 2024 paperwhite is inferior now to the 2024 base kindle in a number of ways. A lot of YouTube videos said the same. This is obviously part personal preference but some of the major gripes with the paperwhite were the non-recessed/flat with the frame screen which ended in many accidental touches of the screen/page flipping and the larger screen actually being a burden in terms of portability, hand feel and weight. Anyways, what are the differences between the 2015 paperwhite and the 2024 base kindle that I've noticed so far? I immediately noticed how lightweight it was. This shocked me actually quite a bit. I wasn't expecting a device with the same size screen to feel half the weight of my old device! This will be a pleasure to hold up day to day! You can see from the side-by-side photo on this review that they really tightened up the frame on the new model. It's not nearly as high at the top and they've shrunken the side frame in as well. I was a bit worried at first that the lack of thumb space on the side would result in accidental touches to the screen but the recessed screen prevents this entirely! Obviously a very well though-out design at this point. The device speed is noticeably faster which wasn't as much of a surprise to me but still a pleasure to experience. Page turns are nearly instant. The menu comes up faster. No real delay on the keyboard when searching. The dictionary for any word that you hold-to-touch comes up very quickly. The battery life was a selling point for me. I heard that battery life has been greatly improved since 2015. I can't comment on that aspect yet as this device is still new to me but I expect I will appreciate not having to charge it very often now. In short: This device is much lighter, more portable, feels better, is faster, has better battery life and includes other features I did not touch on here such as Dark Mode. It was SO easy to activate the new device. As soon as I logged in with my Amazon account: all of my e-books were instantly available on my device. I selected the book I was currently reading on the old device and it took me right back in at the exact page I was on previously. Zero hassle! For the price: You cannot go wrong here. I can't imagine anybody being disappointed with this device unless you read a lot of comic books/manga/magazines etc. in which case you'll likely want the Color version of this device despite it's much higher price tag.

Compact, lightweight and perfect for everyday reading
I’ve been using this Kindle daily for a few weeks now, mainly for reading novels and non‑fiction, and it’s exactly what I was looking for. It’s extremely light and comfortable to hold for long sessions, even with one hand. The glare‑free screen works very well both indoors and outdoors, and the adjustable front light makes night reading easy on the eyes. Page turns are noticeably faster than older models, and the battery easily lasts several weeks with daily use. The 16 GB storage is more than enough for a large library. Ads are present, but they are not intrusive and disappear while reading. ✅ Pros: very lightweight, sharp screen, excellent battery life ❌ Cons: still not waterproof Overall, a great choice for anyone who wants a simple, reliable e‑reader without unnecessary features.
