They work fine, if they were a little bigger that would be great.
I tested these on two separate occasions and both times they worked satisfactory. For the first test: the temperature was 40 Fahrenheit, and I tested the blanket on a mat on my porch, in my underwear for 20 minutes. While it was fairly difficult to get the emergency blanket in place and to minimize the drafts coming in from all sides, I was fairly comfortable for the duration of the test. My feet got a little cold but that is to be expected. For the second test: the temperature was 33 Fahrenheit, and I tested the blanket on a mat outside during a snowfall and windy conditions, once again in my underwear and for 20 minutes. This time it was even more difficult to wrap myself up because I had to fight with the wind, I required a little assistance getting situated but once I did I was slightly uncomfortable. I was fairly cold all over but nothing serious, none of my body parts were numb after the test. The conclusion I came to is that these work well, and they will probably work even better with winter clothes on. The only problem I have with these is they are a little small, and I am a small human (5' 6 and 145), I found it difficult in both test conditions to build up a bubble to collect the heat from my body and ensure there were only a few leaks around my sides.

Keep on hand
I wanted something to have on hand "just in case" and to help with some feral cats during the winter. Well, these are like foil - they're noisy, but they are warm. The cats avoided them because they made so much noise when they stepped on them. So, I wrapped one around a box and made sure it didn't flap around to scare them. that seemed to help. We had babies over the winter and they survived (at least until mom moved them - then I have no idea). One in the car. Others placed here and there. Enough to donate should the need arise. I'd likely get another set. They are not super durable. They're pretty much one-time items. But once taken from the nice zip bag, you can always recycle like I did with the cats or a dog bed or something.

Not suggested for greener purposes
I bought these some years ago when I had the utterly stupid idea to try to grow a certain plant in my room and use these as the insulation. It turns out I don't know jack about growing anything and my $20 equipment budget at Lowes didn't get me very far. Thus my dream of piling money in boxes like in the movie Blow never took flight. To this day I still have all ten of these unopened space blankets, a couple are in my car and the others are in a box somewhere. Now, said plant is legal in my state and anyone can stroll into the shop and buy it, which is pretty cool. I still have no idea what to do with all these freakin' space blankets, but it's nice to know that should I ever be stranded in my car in a blizzard, I can wrap myself in the folly of my youth to stay warm.

Good product
These are o.k. blankets. They are a bit more fragile than I expected them to be. They rip fairly easily I had some older ones that I had used for years to hang up over windows during the winter. The older ones were slightly thicker material and didn't rip or tear easily. these are thinner and tear very easily. But that just means that these will not be as easy to reuse year after year. Not a big deal because they are very cheap so I can buy new ones each year. But I would pay twice as much for some that are like the ones they used to make. Twice as thick and very tear resistant.

Mylar Blankets 10-pack
These were just what I wanted and the price was exceptionally good. The quality is also good along with the service. They came within a few days.I used two of the mylar blankets to line the inside of some Rubbermaid totes I use for shelters for the wild cat colony in my back yard. The cats keep the mice population down so I figured they deserve some shelter too. They seem to be working out really well. Hopefully they will help to keep the heat in the box for the poor critters exposed to the nasty cold weather we've been having. I also have some insullation glued to the inside walls of the totes too, so along with the mylar blanket they should be fairly cozy. The other EM blankets will go into our cars and I'll give the others to my family members.

How to Keep Warm in a Winter Earthquake
We live in an earthquake zone, and I consider it important to be prepared for the worst. We do have a good many blankets, but wrapping this mylar blanket around regular blankets helps hold the heat in. They are a necessary survival tool in an area with cold winters. I am going through all my old orders to write reviews for everything I failed to review earlier. I bought these while I was working on preparedness several years ago.

Handy safety blankets.
I use these on the exterior of metal doors on the front of my house to reflect the fierce sunlight. They do the job quite well. I applied them to one door and then compared the temperatures of the interior sides of the doors. The one with the blanket on the outside was significantly cooler. While this, in theory, has been a temporary application, they have been on the doors for a year now and, in spite of windy at times weather, have maintained their integrity. While the looks of having bright, reflective thermal blankets on the exterior of a front door leaves a little bit to be desired, they perform their job admirably and help keep the room cooler in the heat of the summer sun.

Emergency thermal blankets
I bought these thermal blankets which are paper like in feel. Every year I make my cats a winter box. I use a big brown box and insulate it with newspaper then apply the thermal blankets to the top , sides and bottom. I also place fleece blankets on the bottom of the box. My cats love their winter box. And these thermal blankets seem to keep the heat in from their bodies. I had made one already when I saw these , I made another using these and that is the box they used when outside and I am not home. So by choice the cats like the thermal blankets. I also have two stored in my Jeep just in case.
