Active Signal Mixer, Analog Line Selector, as ABY and FX Loop, Guitar Effects Pedal with Three Channels - Portal | with Three Channels

Originally, I used a splitter and a cheap mixer to run effects in parallel. Then I found this little gem, the Sonicake Portal. It has 3 loops, 2 are for running effetcs and the 3rd is a dedicated clean channel. You have stomp buttons, 1 for each channel to enable/disable the loop, and a volume control to mix the returns from the 3 loops. You can invert the phase for either or both of the A and B loops and you can decide if you want B to stack under A, or if you want them in parallel (which is how I use it). If all channels are off, the pedal operates in a true-bypass mode. If any channel is enabled, even the clear channel, the unit works as a buffer. If you've never run pedals in parallel, it's worth a try. Blending a boosted guitar sound along with a distorted signal is a nice sound. You can drive the distortion with the drive, but that's a different sound. Running a relatively clean guitar signal in parallel with a distorted bring a lot of clarity to the sound; chords don't get lost in the distortion cloud.

This is the coolest thing I’ll put a spark amp on send A and a crazy synth pedal on send B and blend my dry till I find a sound unlike anything I’ve ever heard if you enjoy parallel, mixing, and want to feel that in your tone and live performance. Get this. Put your two favorite signal chains through it and blend A B and C to your liking. The only thing I will say is do not daisychain this pedal. It will gather some buzz. plug it straight in to power and treat it like it’s a micro mixing board and you will be very happy!

This is NOT an ABY selector pedal. What it does and offers to do, is pretty cool and useful. But, this product is a design fail. The Send and Return jacks are staggered along the back along with the IN and OUT for your main signal. There is NO WAY you're going to be able to plug in the normal pancake type patch cords that most musicians use and the only style (it seems) that Amazon.com sells. This box is pretty, it's built well, it seems strong and hearty enough to really last. For me to have even tried to use it would mean going out and buying a bunch of new patch cords and then not being able to use my wireless transmitter simply because the jacks are too close together and bunched up on the back for anything other than skinny 1/4 straight phone plugs. I really wanted to try messing with it but I didn't have a way to even try it out. In the picture it's easy to see that even if you could force the jacks in, the unit would NEVER sit on a surface because you'd have cords going every which way.

I bought this primarily to use as an ABY switcher so that I could send one guitar input out to a Line 6 Helix and an Apollo x6 audio interface. It sounds really clean when just running the guitar through the input and output and also when you kick in an effect loop. The problem is that when I try to use it as a 1-to-3 splitter using the output and sends, I get a lot of noise in the signal. I can do sends from my Helix to other devices without any noise and was hoping to get that same functionality from the Portal but it just doesn't work. I contacted the seller but there response was to have me send a video and not to tell me if this should work and how to set it up. Too bad as it looked like a pretty cool utility box but when just using sends, it's just too noisy.

This has been one of my favorite additions to my pedal board. There is no extra noise added to the signal chain. It gives you a lot of functional tones with the A>B, B>A and parallel operation and a clean blend. It is a 9v center negative so your standard pedal board power supply works great. And for the money it does more than most of the higher end brands that cost 3 times as much.

I had no additional noise. I use a power conditioner, and I suggest you do to if your serious about your tone.

It works as described. It's a nice feature set, and the signal quality is very good. There's a bit of boost available via the level knobs. The switches have both a loud physical click, and the enabling of any switch may cause a significant pop; which is problematic for switching in the middle of a piece. The buttons are positioned close together (which is understandable given the size of the unit)-- but it shouldn't be too difficult to hit the center button. The jacks on the back are plastic and not secured to the chassis in any way (which is typical of a budget device); so those connectors won't be as durable as panel mounted metal jacks. That should be ok if part of a fixed pedal board where they'll be connected and not jerked around very much. It's a versatile & useful pedal. The feature set is pretty unique, but unfortunately, the loud pop when switching reveals its budget nature.

Good sound quality, have active signal strengthening system may help.

Does what it says and very well built for the price. Quite compact, which is good for pedalboard space but means the footswitches are quite close together.

I potenziometri (eccetto quello di sinistra) NON controllano il segnale in uscita (SEND), ma solo quello in entrata (Il RETURN). La qualitá del suono é buona, anche con segnali in linea. Gli switch: non sono malissimo manfanno un click duro e rumoroso, ma non sono i peggiori che abbia mai provato. La connettivitá: bene che sia su un unico lato ma non molto bene che i connettori siano cosí vicini. • Lo Switch Blade Pro ha approssimativamente il 25-30% di volume in piú, nonché un rapporto segnale-rumore migliore. Tanto meglio con i segnali in linea. Manca il selettore di fase, certo. Gli switch: tipo soft, preferisco, molto buoni. Connettivitá: non mi piace il fatto che le entrate-uscite prendano tre lati dei quattro, peró sono distribuite bene e adatte ad ogni tipo di connettore jack. Quale consiglio? Per qualitá massima: EHX Switch Blade Pro Miglior rapporto qualitá-prezzo: Portal senza dubbio.

J'avais besoin d'un blender pour rajouter un potard de Mix sur une pédale difficile à canaliser (une Noise Box de chez Subdecay), et je ne voulais pas mettre 70/80€ dans un LS-2 d'occasion, et encore moins 130€ dans un Switchblade Pro neuf. Du coup, j'ai tenté ce Portal, pour 55€ livré, qui est sur le papier directement comparable au Switchblade Pro. Enfin pas tout à fait, et je vais détailler ici. Personnellement, je cherchais une unique boucle (et non 2), mais je n'ai rien trouvé qui convenait. Je connaissais Sonicake pour avoir eu une Sonic Ambiance (Verb + Delay dans un format Pico), et comme cette dernière, la Portal est bien finie et solide (tout métal). A noter néanmoins l'emplacement des jacks, qui ne permettront pas d'y mettre les pancakes, et qui peuvent être agacants quand il s'agit de retirer certains jacks coudés plats (les Harley Benton solder-free), puisque les jacks rentrent en contact avec le chassis. Enfin je me comprends ^^ > Pour commencer, la pedale est petite (bon point), mais propose 3 footswitchs avec 45mm d'entre-axes entre chaque. C'est vraiment peu, de mon point de vue (je commence à être à l'aise à partir de 70mm). > le Portal a donc 3 footswitchs qui permettent d'enclencher chaque "boucle" : A pour la première boucle, B pour la 2e et C pour le son direct (Dry). Déjà, c'est contre-intuitif que le Dry soit en dernier, et donc le footswitch le plus à gauche. Ensuite, si vous voulez recupérer le bypass, il faut désactiver les 3 boucles ... Donc si vous voulez bypasser un blend Dry + Boucle A (ou B), il faudra appuyer sur 2 footswitchs à la fois, pour y arriver. Bon courage si c'est la boucle A, puisque le footswitch de la B est entre les 2 lol Donc je dirai qu'un looper est obligatoire, dans cette configuration. De manière identique, si vous voulez désenclencher la boucle A et enclencher la boucle B, il faudra appuyer sur les 2 footswitchs (qui pour le coup, sont côte à côte ... mais sans toucher le 3e footswitch). Bref, pour un usage studio ou pour une configuration définitive, c'est très bien. Mais pas pour swicher en live. A titre de comparaison, la Switchblade pro est bien mieux pensée : un switch de master bypass, un switch pour échanger A <-> B et un switch pour enclencher A et B. Même si sur le papier, ça parait plus usine à gaz, force est de constater qu'on peut tout faire simplement. > Les 3 boucles (yc la Dry) possèdent un potard de gain, donc l'unité est autour de 14h. C'est plutôt très bien, ça permet de faire pas mal de choses sans se sentir limité. Pour l'avoir mis dans un "true-bypasseur", je dirai que les boucles sont transparentes, sans mauvaise surprise. Et à vrai dire, c'est bien le point le plus important me concernant. Et le blend marche parfaitement, comme je le souhaitais :) > Les 2 boucles A et B ont un bouton poussoir d'inversion de phase, qui me laisse par contre perplexe. Oui, ça peut être utile, mais ils ne sont pas transparents : en mettant un bon jack dans la boucle et en l'enclenchant l'inversion, on perd un peu de bas ... > Comme l'EHX, elle propose soit les boucles A et B en parallèle entre elles (également en parallèle avec le Dry), ou en série (toujours en parallèle avec le Dry). Personnellement, je n'utilise qu'une boucle, donc cette fonction m'est inutile. Conclusion : dans mon contexte (ajout d'un potard de Mix sur une pédale noisy pour faire mumuse chez moi), cette pédale est très bien, avec les (nombreuses) limitations que j'ai pointées ici. Car d'un point de vue sonore, c'est quasi un sans faute (à part pour les inversions de phase). Du coup je la garde sans complexe. Mais dans un contexte plus poussé où l'ergonomie est primordiale, je ne la recommande pas franchement. Ou alors couplée à un looper, selon les besoins.
