Pole Dance Fitness: The Complete Book [Kartaly, Irina] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Pole Dance Fitness: The Complete Book Review: Strongly recommend for anyone interested in movement and health work - We're very pleased with this thick paper book and think the title is justified. It's quite complete and while it can't cover everything in depth it covers many things very well while repeatedly urging the challenger to seek out a qualified instructor and follow safety guidelines. In many ways PDFTCB is our new favourite health and fitness book! Besides the detailed coverage of pole fitness movement and tricks, there are detailed diagrams of stretches for every muscle group for both warm-up and cool down. I was delighted to find diagrams and names (!) for stretches I have picked up from videos and books somewhere along the way. The nutritionist's section (!) includes not just good guidance about nutrients, energy, and muscles but a large set of recipes for the day of, just before, and after exercises sessions. Some of them look very tasty and I want to try them out! We bought this book to try and learn a little bit about pole work and what kind of exercise it is as we consider adding it to our collection of hobbies. We're quite pleased with the detailed background, emphasis on safety and the extensive selection of moves and tricks that are the core of this volume, but if I'd known how well the book describes and names stretches I might have bought it for that. Or for the recipes! Review: great step by step pictures to demonstrate - Great book. I have been in traditional dance classes for many years but when I decided to try pole classes the termanology was all over the place and it does not correlate with ballet or jazz terms that I am used to. It has great pictures to reference. I kept it in my dance bag forever so I could take a quick peek when I was unsure of the name of a trick. Much easier to have it all there than top have to search for a video multiple times during class. My book is now covered in bookmarks and notes and I really like it!

Good for beginners but not complete newbies
If you have basic knowledge of pole dancing this is a good tool for you. I would not recommend alone for complete beginners as the pictures and descriptions aren't enough alone. I like how it had pre, during, and post work out recommendations. My biggest issue with it is that the author seems to have a vendetta against grip aid. If you have a silicone pole yeah. Which it looks like they use. But for the love of God use grip aid if you have a metal one. There is no shame in using it. Despite what the author says you will still build grip strength and other strength while using grip. It is safer to be gripped up. Especially starting out.

Lots of information
It has a lot of information, warmups, photos of pole moves and even recipes. (I don't need those recipes, though) I don't know if there are comparable books out there so I can't compare them, but I bought another costly "book" that was basically a small pamphlet with drawings of moves. That was a disappointment, so this book is so much better. I only wish there were a alphabetical index in the back do I could look up moves by the name. And of course pole move names vary around the country and world. There is an index in the back sorted by chapter, but I wish it was listed alphabetically. I plan on using this book as a reference instead of the book's recommendation of reading from the beginning to the end.

Great gift
GF loved this as a birthday gift. Her friends at the pole studio confirmed it’s a good book for exercised and workouts.

More of a reference than a how-to
Pros: Beautifully photographed. Jam packed with definitions. Good reference material to look up names. Cons: Doesn't really step through movements. You only get one picture per item most of the time. This is fairly thick book...I'm not entirely sure why the recipe section was included. It seems superfluous.

I wish I'd gotten this book so much earlier!
The lack of pictures made me hesitate for so long, but I'm glad I finally caved! Lots of warm-up suggestions, pre-workout stretching exercises, transitional movements, climbs, shoulder mounts, handstands, combinations as well as post workout stretching and a nutritional plan. All in all you get a *lot* in those 400+ pages! Disclaimer: I did *not* get this book for free or for a lower price for submitting this review!

Great informative book. From warmups, workouts, both with and without a pole, to pre and post pole diet recipes... Easily explained with photos (for some moves multiple stage photos) to allow your pole life to be easily progressed.

I’m way more impressed with this book and I thought I would be, it truly is the all in one book for dancers of all levels. This book includes warm ups, conditioning, stretches, pole moves by the level, combinations, recipes and more. Some of the moves in beginner were closer to intermediate level in my opinion but thats subjective. Overall a very well thought out and organized book. Highly recommend!
