I used the tray and mat for my stove -- which is a knock-off brand that is similar in size to the Mesa XL. While the product listing shows a little stove on the tray, the XL size stove pretty much takes up the whole tray. So it will not provide the same type of protection that it would for a smaller stove, its benefit is having the ability to easily move the stove around.The mat is a little thinner than some of the larger mats I've seen that are commonly used for bbq setups, it still would fine for smaller stoves. I am not planning on using the mat by itself since it is basically the same diameter as my stove, but I'm happy to use it with the tray.The tray is bamboo and has been polished so it's smooth to the touch. One side has a small lip but it could easily be flipped over if you like the flat look .If you have a little stove and just like the thought of the extra safety the mat uses, I would highly recommend.

This item has made me more comfortable using my tabletop fire pit. It also looks nice! I’m no longer afraid to use my fire pit on my patio table . Good value for the money. Good quality also.

A simple tool for outdoors. I got this too late! I had one of those mini bonfire “candles” and burned it on my wooden lawn furniture. I scorched it! So happy to have this protection for the future. Protect the furniture!

The Fire Pit Mat & Tray Set includes a 10-inch fire pit mat that, per the description, has three layers of fireproof material. This mat has an outer ring edge of soft material. (See photo #2.). This mat fits perfectly just inside the circular wooden tray. This tray is expertly crafted of bamboo and has an outer lip/edge to keep your Solo MESA XL from sliding off. (See photo #3.). The bamboo tray is also compatible with any other fire pit up to 10” in size. Besides the tray and fireproof mat being such a great addition to the Solo MESA XL, another one of my favorite things is that the tray is very versatile and can be used for many other things such as a base for candles; a serving tray; a tray for your dresser; etc. This would be a great gift for a Solo Stove MESA XL owner or for yourself!

I got this to use for my smoking cocktails efforts and it works well. The only knock is that the black cover does not fit into the tray.. it sits on top of it more since the beveled edge hinders a good fit. It catches the cocktail embers well and is well sized though. The fact that the black mat does not fit though makes me nervous for the drinks to not slip/slide around at all. If the mat was smaller in diameter, it would fit into the tray bottom and look much sharper. As it is, the black mat fits like an afterthought item, or someone DIY merged two items... not a clean look. The bamboo tray looks sharp as a standalone item too though.

This is a very nice replacement for the mat I had before, which was too large for my small stove. The wood try adds additional sturdiness. I do wish the mat was just a tiny bit smaller so that it fit perfectly into the tray There's a little overlap that doesn't cause problems, but given that it's a set, it would be nice if it fit together perfectly so you could count on the mat not shifting. I definitely feel safer using this tray and mat rather than the one I had before.

The media could not be loaded. As a boat builder I appreciate when a product is "finished". I don't just mean sanded on the outside but details like unseen areas and edges accounted for and this is a product that meets my expectations. It's a very simple product so I expect it but sometimes mass produced products fail in that area. That being said, the wood is clean and the joinery is clean and not filled with glue or fillers. The mat is a very nice material that is heat resistant and with a nice sewn tape around the edges, again, finished. The wood is a nice hardwood, maybe Poplar stained in a nice Yellow Pine finish. With it's simple but sure lines, satin finish, it will fit well quietly into any decor. Nice job, Five stars.
