FLUVAL
Bought this pump to be used in a sump has amazing water flow and is very quiet. I always buy FLUVAL products as much as possible or aqua clear one in the same. None of the pumps ever give me a hard time and parts are always readily available.

Quality pump, low noise level, energy consumption and ...
This is the 2nd fluval sp6 I am now running on my large aquariums. These pumps are huge but they have to be in order to move such a massive volume of water. This product arrived on time and well packaged. Was easily removed from the box and set up was fairly straight forward and easy also.I don't like that the plug is not grounded but also have never felt any stray voltage from this pump either. As compared to other somewhat similar pumps, this pump uses less electricity and is a better price point along with being much quieter.Overall I would rate the fluval sp6 pump as follows:Shipping speed 8.5/10Packaging 9/10Ease of install 8/10Size 7/10Energy consumption 8.5/10Noise level (quietness) 9/10Flow 9/10Very happy with this product and would definitely order it again if I ever needed another. If you found this review helpful, please click "helpful"

Pump came broken used looking
Received my pump excited to use it, I get it all hooked up and plugged in and doesn't pump water so I dry test it to see if impeller is spinning it was not. I opened the prop housing to find a broken impeller shaft. It is a good thing I have a back up pump for now for my aquarium. There was significant damage to the pump when received. Doesn't look like a new pump. When I opened it I noticed significant damage to the packaging an nothing in factory bags the cord wasn't even factory packaged. I think I was sent someone else's broken pump or return!

Great powerful and silent pump!
I bought this pump to replace my Jebao DC 12000. The reason I needed to replace my DC pump was because my reef tank was in my bedroom and this DC pump produced a high frequency hum. The higher the power, the louder and higher the frequency. By full power, it was like sleeping next to a full size refrigerator when the cooler was running. I tried padding, even suspending the pump in mid water, nothing worked.I just got this new Fluval pump 2 days ago but right away, it made a big difference! The noise level is so low that it's silent when the cabinet doors are closed. Even when open, it's almost inaudible. It pumps more water than the DC 12000 at its full power. So far, I am very happy with it.However, there are two things you might want to consider-1. It's almost 50% bigger than the Jebao. I had to rearrange my sump to fit it in.2. It doesn't have a filter/strainer cap on the intake. You either leave it open or have to DIY a cover.Edit 1/22/20151.I had to take a star down because once I got used to the initial shock of how much quieter this pump was from the DC 12000, I realized that it also produced a loud hum. Not the high pitch whine like DC 12000 but a low pitch hum. After I accidentally set a rock on top of the pump and enhanced the rubber feet with foam, the pump quieted down a bit. Still audible but now tolerable.2. I went to Homedepot and got a 1-1/4" 90 degree threaded PVC pipe. It screwed on to the intake perfectly. Now I angled the pipe to point down and my sump water level no longer had to be at least 8" high.

POWERFUL
This pump doesn't mess around. Silent and powerful. Definitely not disappointed. I needed all of the 3400gph this pump claims, and it seem to be very close. Main manifold is 1.5" which is larger than the 1.25" pump fitting, and it tees off to two 3/4" and one 1" output. All 3 are valved back by about half. I'll be adding more tanks and this has plenty of power left for that.

... be a well built pump and I am very satisfied with it
seems to be a well built pump and I am very satisfied with it. That being said I needed a pump that would pump 900gph. According to fluval the sp2 should meet my needs however after reading the reviews I decided to upgrade to the sp4 to insure I was able to reach my 900gph. After testing the sp4 I was only able to move 1200 gph not the rated 1800gph. So glad I went with sp4 not the sp2 as I am sure it would not have done the job

Sold me a defective unit
Unit arrived on time and as stated. However when installed the unit wasn't powering on. Turns out there is a short somewhere in the cord. To this day if I touch the cord even slightly it turns off the pump and I need to jiggle the cord until it turns back on. For the price I paid I should never be dealing with this problem.

High quality, good flow and low power consumption pump
When looking for a return pump for my aquarium I scoured the Internet looking at all the manufacturers. Danner Mag Drive pumps of course come to mind as the most popular but I was looking for a pump with low heat, high flow and lower power consumption. After reviewing the specifications of the Fluval Sea pumps I settled on the SP6.Now about 2 months later I can tell you that I am very satisfied with this pump. It's general construction is excellent, it came with a number of connecting accessories, it's fairly quiet for it's size and it does use less power than a comparable Mag Drive pump.I would definitely recommend any of the Fluval Sea series pumps.March 2023 update: Pump still running strong, 9 years later!
