The keyfobs I purchased appear virtually identical to the OEM key (w/o the logo sticker). Google searches were encouraging that the keyfob could be programmed using the original key and a virtual "rain dance" of pushing keyfob buttons while in the car . I tried a variety of online documented procedures for programming a BMW keyfob using your current key. Nothing successful came of this. ALthough I am sure it was entertaining for my neighbors to watch me fiddling for hours in my driver's seat. The only locksmith I've found locally that advertises that they program keyfobs said that mine (BMW X1) was not among those that his equipment could handle. He suggested I take the blank keyfobs to the BMW Dealership. I did so - and they flatly refused to even attempt the programming. BUT they WOULD sell me a new programmed key for $750. OUCH!!! THat is high enough to make me re-think whether I really need an additional key. Besides - who knows? Maybe my 2nd key will suddenly re-appear. I am still searching the Myrtle Beach, SC area for a locksmith who will help. At this point I am not optimistic.

La verdad que el programador no tuvo ningún problema en programar los controles , me hizo el trabajo en casi una hora , dos controles y me ahorré más de 400 dólares con los controles que me vendía en la BMW, trabajan perfectamente, los recomiendo

It's very inexpensive and while not everyone can add a key, the process is simple under WINKFP and others programs. It can even be done remotely with EDIABAS. Fit, weight and function are identical to OEM key, programming is the hardest part. A new roundel will be needed to make it OEM. minor thing. Normally in the hands of an expert it takes less than 10 minutes to read the encrypted key from the CAS and program the key to the FOB. Under certain conditions, you can assign the encrypted key to the key fob, although no Comfort access will be available, since for that, the key fob will need to be fully added to the system, if 10 keys haven't been used, a total firmware upgrade/CAS unit swap will be needed. That being worst case scenario.
