It is larger than I thought, but it works very well with the Chinois to strain sauces. The height is necessary to get the whole Chinois down into it. Is well made and a quality thickness on the steel.

One thing to note - I did not realize this when I bought it - is that the whole thing is so tall (ie. deep) that regular hand-food-processor / mixer paddles or dough hooks do NOT reach anywhere near the bottom. But that's my mistake. The product is excellent quality.

several people complain about the sticker leaving residue. use an oil based spray (WD-40) ant it will soak In and remove residue in a few wipes otherwise these have worked fine. used for boiling chemicals of DIY industrial process. ammonium compounds, dye's, nickel acetate, phosphoric acid. (anodizing aluminum and chemplate/phosphate steels) Defiantly made of stainless steel! material is defiantly a non magnetic Stainless steel. again people have said it "peels off" and is not stainless underneath but what I received this is defiantly not the case! the metal is non magnetic (aka no iron in the core) and it would be FAR more expensive to laminate or electroplate materials together after forming the product. its defiantly thin and will bow on the bottom if you place on a stovetop or hotplate in my case) It comes back to normal when cooled. you get what you pay for here and I am completely happy

This size 6-Quart is a PERFECT FIT for the 4.5Q to fit into!

Wish it was of a thicker gauge. The lid that couples with it feels substantial, however this pot feels too light-weight.
