It works.
This is a really good motor I weigh 180 and it takes me faster than 25 mph I have to be careful in 20mph zones! the battery is 48v but only 10ah though, put it on a Huffy Rock Creek 29" men's bike, fit like a glove in the rear dropouts. This with the bike and battery for under 600 bucks, if you got a bike already then just 400 bucks to upgrade and you don't have to feel guilty you never use that expensive mountain bike in the garage lolz. Happy Riding! Best Huffy ever! (I didn't have to mess with any "white" wires for learning mode, it was plug and go.) Forgot to mention you gain a sprocket on the cassette with this motor making it a 21 speed bike upgraded from 18 speed, well on this bike at least. Had a problem with having half power but it was my fault as I turned on the bike with the throttle halfway, this calibrated it to half the throttle resistance, I had to turn it off, hold the throttle to full and turn on the system e.g. display to recalibrate it.

Works well
I bought 2. Both work well.

Spokes come loose. Dangerous.
Installed easily enough and runs the bike well. But all the spines are loose and make a bunch of noise. Got no guidance from the seller and they will not exchange. Maybe get another item with a better reputation.

Very Nice Conversion Kit Ruined by TERRIBLE Pedal-Assist
I gave this kit a 3-star rating as an average between 4 and 2 stars. If you ride using throttle-only, this kit might be a 4. But if you like to ride using pedal-assist, it's a 2. The pedal-assist implementation is TERRIBLE! Initially, this kit impressed me. The wheel has extra-thick 12-gauge spokes (14-gauge is standard), and was almost perfectly true out of the box. The controller works with a 36V, 48V or 52V battery. The motor is a direct drive hub (no gears or clutch) so it's extremely quiet and reliable. The downside is it's heavier and has less torque than a geared hub (so acceleration and hill-climbing are weaker) and it has a tiny bit of magnetic drag when pedaling without the motor. Installation? You must replace your rear wheel, swap brake levers and cables (if you want to make use of the motor cutoff wired into the brake levers), and pull the cranks and the bottom bracket (if you want to install pedal-assist). The controller and peripherals are plug-n-play. None of that's too hard, but if it's your first time it might feel intimidating. A few general gripes: Like most low-end ebikes, the wheel uses an anemic 14/28 freewheel (not a cassette!), but it's easy to swap it for a Drift Maniac 11/34 freewheel for a much wider gear range (you may need a lockring tool to remove the freewheel). The controller is wired with an XT60 connector for the battery, but they provided no matching connector to splice onto my battery's leads — should have been included. Also, connectors are NOT waterproof, so I would never ride this in the rain. The "User's Manual" is a small slip of paper with tiny type explaining the display, how to select pedal-assist level, use cruise control and how to toggle through trip odometer, odometer, max speed and average speed. However, the comprehensive 23-page user manual explaining all of the controller's 16 user-adjustable settings is NOT included! The vendor should at least provide a link to download the PDF. If you want a copy you'll have to contact them. Finally, a 1,000 watt kit really should have a torque arm — this one doesn't. This kit may work for you, depending how you ride your bike and in what terrain. Throttle-only, it works quite well. On flats and gentle rollers it zips along. It is absolutely silent, and I can go about 25 mph with an 8-year-old 36 volt battery! Climbing and acceleration are sometimes sluggish using just throttle, but a 48V or 52V battery would provide more pep. Pedaling certainly helps, and it's not at all strenuous. Note: throttle top speed matches pedal-assist top speed (e.g., if pedal-assist level 1 tops out at 8 mph, the throttle will, too). So for highest speed, set your pedal-assist to its highest level. Also, the throttle is a thumb throttle and the pedal-assist uses a simple cadence sensor (no torque sensor here!). But actually using pedal-assist, this kit is terrible. Once you're moving, if you stop pedaling (for whatever reason) and then start pedaling again, the pedal-assist (usually) WON'T RESTART THE MOTOR! If you're lucky, it may start within one crank revolution. But usually it doesn't. It can take 10 or more revolutions to restart! Sometimes it never restarts. Then you have to come to a complete stop or slow way, WAY down (like 3 or 4 mph) before pedal-assist restarts the motor. It's not operator error: I've built four other ebikes with zero problems. I double and triple-checked the installation. The vendor ultimately acknowledged this is how their controller works. There's no way to change it. This is the WORST IMPLEMENTATION of pedal-assist I have ever heard of. If I had known the kit worked this way I wouldn't have bought it. I hope the vendor replaces the controller with one that works properly; as of this writing it doesn't! Note: pedal-assist does NOT have to be installed for this kit to work. The throttle works with or without it. Installation means pulling your cranks (need a crank puller compatible with your bottom bracket; is it square taper or spline?) and pulling the bottom bracket (need a bottom bracket tool to unscrew it). Also, I had to replace my bottom bracket with one that had a wider spindle (122.5mm) since the existing spindle was too narrow and had no room for the magnet-ring. Honestly, for most people, this version of pedal-assist isn't worth installing. In short: if you ride throttle-only this kit works quite well, but you may need to pedal on some hills and take-offs. If you enjoy using pedal-assist, stay away from this kit! Controller notes (not covered in the "manual"): 1) To reset your trip odometer, press the "i" button (on the side) together with the "-" button for several seconds. The display will blink and trip odometer resets to zero. 2) This controller has a "European Mode" that limits top speed to just 25 kph/15 mph to satisfy Europe's strict ebike laws. Press and hold "+" button for several seconds to toggle this mode on or off (display will show "250W" when on). This also enables a quirky regenerative braking function (if you're coasting downhill faster than your pedal-assist-level speed limit, the throttle becomes a brake and slows you down to pedal-assist-level limit). I only mention this mode so you'll know how to turn it off if you accidentally activate it. If you're curious you may want to experiment with it (the regen can save your brake pads on long descents). Safety note: Keep those axle bolts tight (I keep mine at 50 Newton/Meters) and check them periodically! Also, this kit does NOT include a torque arm, but it should. I installed two for even more insurance, one on each side. Be safe!

Great ebike wheel and motor with shipping faster than shown. A lot faster
Super fast shipping (like 1 day). Product was well backed up by manual that was understandable but unneeded as the accessories were all really good. Will definitely, come back to this seller to buy any ebike equipment.

Error code 04 help!
Hello, I need replacement spokes for the wheel or at least spokes size specs, those are fatter than typical wheel, started losing spokes yesterday. Error code 04 after two months of daily use, short distance trips but not constant. the kit has been working great since December 2025, I use the bike to go to work and delivery work. Just decided to transfer the kit a stronger framed bike, just finished today, but got error code 04, according to research is a bad throttle, but I'm no expert, still learning, do I need to worry about the controller? Please help, can't work without it, I'm a1099 worker

This kit works!
There was the unusual usual set up adjustments fitting this kit to my MBT. Nothing too hard or a deal breaker in installation. Test rides were pleasant as all functions worked. The “white” test wire for rotational direction made set up easier. I ordered theaters others did and I am pleased with it plugging in directly. Rim size for my 29” MTb tire. I did have to add break sensors for my hydraulic brake controls, but it was easy. Fine tuning the settings is ongoing, but it was -18°F this morning. 🤪
