We have the blessing of helping our mother go through a 4000+ square-foot home. And this home has a collection of “treasures.” she has her heart set on giving these treasures away. But I have my heart set on keeping people safe. So we used these to determine if it was safe to give away or if we needed to just say goodbye. Very easy to use! And helped make some difficult decisions easier for Mom.

Not sure if it really works but seems ok. Used to testing metal pots all negative results.

Exactly what I needed and was looking for.

We bought 225 mismatched china plates from thrift stores and yes, we needed to test all of them for lead. Fortunately only one, which was a commemorative plate, had lead on it. The result is immediate and obviously red. If you test a set of grandma’s plates, you may microanalyze “is this red orange actually red” but know if there is actually lead, it will be immediate and very bright. I am happy with this product and feel comfortable now serving guests on our plates!

Ordered this product because it was cheaper and easier to use with higher quantity test swabs. Photo shows the product test compared to another more expensive product produced in Canada "Primed Lead Test Kit". This product instructions: 1) dip in water for 2 seconds. 2) wait for swab time to turn mustard yellow, 3) rub surface for 30 seconds, 4) observe tip color. The swab does not change to mustard yellow, rather it remains reddish orange. Even after waiting for four minutes it does not change to yellow. The other test kit does change. Finally, this test kind "kind-of" works on high concentration of lead when tested on an item known to have high concentration of lead (see pictures to compare this product to a properly working product). Possible reasons: 1) the concentration of Sodium Rhodizonate is too low, 2) Tap Water is a poor or insufficient buffer solution compared to Acetic Acid + distilled water (Primed Lead Test Kit uses Acetic Acid as a buffer solution to set the proper ph level). Internet search on forensic testing of lead shows that Sodium Rhodizonate chromatic shift sensitivity to lead is better at a ph level of 2.8. If this product is intended to be activated using Distilled Water, is should say so in the instructions. Recommendation: pass, Do not buy this product.
