"###"Writing Review after 2 years and 2 months of extensive usage "####", I changed from Gillette Mach 3 to this one to avoid irritation, and now I will be life time user of electric shaver Build Quality & Durability: Attach pictures are of the shaver after after 2 years of usage, which tells all,, starting with painting the product is of very high quality, it handles well in Hand, the rubber grip is soft and the embossed matte finish handles well and to avoid any fall, Main tri shaver blades are of very good quality and the trimmer if not the best does the job. 100% waterproof as advertised never faced a issue on this. Usage Review after 2 Years: If you are a daily shaver (which I am not) this is the best shaver to have, for my kind of lazy shaving, first i use the trimmer to trim a little, and then use shaver with good quality shaving gel (Nivea I use and absolutely I love it, soon I will share review of it) I apply two coating and shave, what I get is an absolute buttery shave, like you see with Bollywood stars (yes I mean it). Best part there is no itching of face which I suffered a lot with Mach 3. Trimmer on its own is good but not super effective. i use it to trim mustache and it is quite ok for that, but to use just as a trimmer i doubt how effective it will be. Charging is also super fast with 0 to 100% will be done in 1 hour my primary requirement when buying the product, being the lazy I am. Blades shaves well even after 2 years usage, but i think its time for replacement, where i see the replacement blades are super expensive, Philips should care this. Problems Faced: -> Takes a lot of time to shave, you need patience if you are in urgent you may end up throwing and breaking it, also shaving places around neck is quite a challenge -> Twice i face quality issue of Motor Jamming, brought to Philips customer care as I have 3 years extended warranty and they swiftly repaired -> To shave through beard to clean shave takes quote some time Conclusion: Great product, just go for it, you will realize the time of blade shavers are gone and Electric shavers have arrived, now no way for me to going back to traditional shaver, I am looking forward to new Philips are other vendors electric shavers. |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*| Update : 11-01-2017 - Few more random points to add 1) This can be used for dry shaving too, but best for wet shaving with smooth gel 2) Dont keep it cook place especially in the bathroom wall, the motor may get jam, not a big deal, but you have to carry it to service center. 3) Trimmer blades may be the weak link, for me its still useful in trimming the mustache, as i like it to keep it but super thin 4) Never ever use it while its kept on charge 5) Shaving should be done in circular motion with a easy grip not too tight or pressing. 6) If you are removing the blade for cleaning handle with care, if not it may damage the joint |*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*|*| Update : 03-02-2017 - Few more random points to add 1) Cleaning - Please ensure once every month you remove the blade and clean it thoroughly using the brush given, the trimmer will be a lit bit more challenging to clean but ensure you rinse it repeatedly 2) After using please dont keep it outside in bathroom, especially in winter, I had the motor jammed twice, i assumed due to moisture from air 3) Please dont apply thick coating of jel, the blades may not penetrate well during shaving 4) Please remove shaver from charger when charged 100%, this may help battery life in long run 5) Apply gently the lock screw when removing blade for cleaning, this helps the mechanical part of the lock durability 6) If possible try best to avoid dry shaving, its quite irritating at least for me, and i suspect it helps with the life time of blade too 7) If want to get very fine trimming of mustache, a hack i do is hold the trimmer upside down, this way i get the finest of trimming.

Pretty quick and easy to use - when used properly. Saves time particularly in the morning rush - since one does not have to apply shaving foam when using this shaver. For facial hair that is less than 1 mm, this shaver is perfect. Which means that if you shave regularly every day, this shaver is perfect for you. On the other hand, if you shave only occasionally (for instance, once or twice a week) and have facial hair that has grown to more than 2 mm, using this shaver is not effective. You'd have to either trim the hair first to make them less than 1mm in length and then use this shaver or instead just use a normal razor. A normal razor handles longer facial hair better than this shaver. This shaver takes some getting used to - so do not be surprised if you get irritated using this the first few times. Also, if your hair is already wet, this shaver is less effective, unless you apply shaving foam and then use this trimmer. So in practical terms, while it is better to use a normal razor after taking bath in the morning (since your facial hair will already be moist and easier to cut), this shaver is better used before taking bath. Also, the trimmer that comes in built with this shaver is useless! I usually use the Philips QT4005/15 for trimming, and compared to that, the trimmer inbuilt in this shaver is very ineffective. Pros: > Quick and easy to use when used . Saves time. > Long battery backup - I shave on alternate days. I have to charge this only about once in 1-2 months. > Lives up to its name 'Aqua'. Truly water proof. > Prevents the cuts and bruises that come with shaving with razors. > Durability - I have been using this for two years now - and it still works like the first time I used it. Cons: > Does not work well on longer facial hair (longer than 2mm) or if hair is wet and you are not using shaving foam. > Normal razors (blades) also help exfoliate the skin when used with moderation and with a good shaving cream. Also it will give a closer cleaner shave. Electric razors do not provide these benefits. > Another point to note is that if you don't want to get a clean shave and instead have to shape your beard into specific styles (like a goatee for instance), this shaver is a little difficult to use. > The trimmer that comes inbuilt is useless. Personally, I'd use this on work days - when I want to get a quick shave. But, on a leisurely weekend, when you have the time, nothing beats a shave with the good old razor (I found Gillette Mach 3 razor to be very safe - almost never got a cut when using it) and a good shaving cream - particularly if you do it after you have take a bath and your hair is already moist.

A perfect and a powerful solution from Philips finally. Versatile and more comfortable than all those foil type electric shavers (I personally used one for three years) that require you to shave essentially against the grain to get best results which adds to a severe skin irritation particularly after the dry run. The circular motion in any direction enables a comfortable precision cut for each hair stubble that is made more smooth with the super-lift and cut capabilities packed in this sleek yet power-punched wonder. The dual precision blades work well with a three days growth also, thus eliminating any essential need of using a trimmer first. Ah, yeh the pop-up trimmer is not as effective with the location it is placed on the machine but then a few number of trials teach you to deal with it. A more cool feature enables you to rinse on the inside of the shaving heads as many number of times under the faucet just with the press of a button that pop-opens the heads when you choose to pamper yourself with simply a wet spell or with foam or when gliding on a gel. The flexing heads easily engulf the chin area and ensures an evenly done patch there. A dry graze is again very neat and effective, much beyond my expectations and very satisfactory if not really as close as its wet cousin but then it serves your needs smartly in that hurried hour and makes you depose with that same confidence. The battery comes to life for a single shave with only a 3-4 minutes charging just in case you forgot to charge the last time it fully drained out, and it needs only an hour for a full-charge and can power a massive 10 to 12 shaves at least if not 17, if in case you are a slow and an indulging groomer just like me. But for getting the favorable results you need to engage the right technique of using the device. Read the litrature thoroughly first. A few times of its use will perfect your maneuvers of dealing with this type of a tool. The looks are cool and amazing too. The metallic-blue jaw line around the ergonomic rubber grip adds on the handsome front. Both the plastic and the rubber used in it are of a very high quality. A full value for money but only looses its sheen on the spares cost as its replacement heads are very highly priced and are not even available online on any of the e-commerce options in India. Even the retailers don't stock it on them at all. Amazon was quick and accurate with its delivery and the outer packing was good and protective, though the main product packing inside was already open as the plastic lamination of the box and the box seal were both missing. It seemed that the original product was opened and handled by the Amazon's staff. That indeed doesn't qualify as a good idea just in case you plan to send it as a gift to someone or if incase such an idea sucks you personally.

Received product in good condition. Pros - very easy to operate. it take few days to learn the motion but then its very easy. - Handy, carry with your where-ever you roam in house. no need to stand in front mirror full time. - battery back up excellent, - easy to clean and store. - No issues when using without water / foam when hurry. - Gives nearly as good as razor shave. - trimmer is good and comes useful. Cons - for a everyday shaver kind of stiff beard, takes same amount of time as regular shave. - using on neck is tricky. - for a good close shave your will have to stand in front of mirror and check re-check areas that you might have missed. Overall a very good handy product. You can shave seating in front tv, reading ... Serves its purpose. Best part is it saves time as you can multitask. looks fashionable than regular gillette shavers and gives good shave overall.

After reading much reviews and doing my own research, I finally purchased the Aqua Touch AT890/16, and boy am I glad I purchased it. Its an excellent product and is definitely a good replaced to the expensive Gillette cartridges that I used before for many many years. Now coming to the specifics of the AT890/16 - The shaver is very light and is shaped for easy and comfortable handling. Straight out of the box, I charged the shaver for 5-6 hours and I got 14-15 shaves after, and I shave every morning for about 5 mins. Coming to the quality of shave - I tried the dry shave first, it gave me a good shave but I guess my skin is a little too sensitive for the dry option and I had a very mild burning sensation. Then the next time I tried the wet shave - lathered up some shaving gel and gave it a shot......this time the save was fantastic and my skin DID NOT feel any burn nor even a slight hint of a rash. PERFECT SHAVE and smooth skin. I have heard of people complaining that the shave quality of the AT890/16 is not good and it still leaves some stubble or unshaved areas, especially in the neck area right below your jaw line and mustache area under the nose or any curved shaving areas of your face. Well, my advise to people facing such issues is to follow a simple rule of thumb - when shaving the RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR FACE, move the shaver in a circular motion in a CLOCK WISE direction as seen in the mirror and when shaving the LEFT SIDE OF YOUR FACE, move the shaver in a circular motion in an ANTI-CLOCK WISE direction. The reason being that your facial hair grows downwards, and to get a close shave from a shaver having rotor blades that are rotating in a clockwise directions, you will need to move the shaver against the direction in which your hair grows. So please follow the simple instruction on how to use the shaver and I am sure you will get a good shave. As a summary, the Phillips AquaTouch AT890/16 is an excellent product and is a very very good replacement for shaving cartridges, that seem to be going up in price each passing year.

I just got this one 2 days ago. The pack was roughly handled with some dents in the cardboard. But the product was undamaged. It's quite big and heavy compared to my previous trimmer. But I was surprised by the full charge in 1 hr ability. Now THIS IS NOT A MACHINE YOU CAN USE WITHOUT GOING THROUGH A TUTORIAL! Else you'll end up with lots of burning bruises in your neck, just like me. And make sure to use a foam on your first shave, so that your skin can adapt to the machine. Very Important - this machine is for regular use only. If you have a week old beard, use the pop up trimmer to reduce the hair size, and then shave. Or it'll take over 30 min for clean shave. EDIT: This sale is a froud. I ordered AT890/16, but they only gave me AT890. I spent half an hour to find the serial number for the warranty registration. Only then did I find the difference. This is cheap counterpart without the advertised 2+1 yr warranty! Hell with you Amazon. I didn't expect this from you!!

Admittedly, this is my first electric shaver - I have been a Gillette twin-blade user all the time. But, I liked it very much. The main advantages are - with a little practice, this gives a pretty close shave. It's not exactly normal razor quality, but will pass almost all of the times. You can use it on dry skin or wet (even with shaving cream/foam) with the same results. A good tip is to wet the shaver head with water before shaving if you're doing it on wet skin without cream/foam. The head is very comfortable and does not cause any irritation on its own. The grip is extremely well designed - fits very well in the hand. The trimmer on this shaver takes care of sideburns and any hard to reach hair. Battery is excellent - I've used it 10-12 times after one initial full charge and no sign of low charge yet. The pouch and cap that comes with it are very handy for travel. The disadvantages are few, but should be covered - first off, cleaning certain parts of the shaver is very difficult, especially the area around the rotors under the blades (will be a problem if you are a cleaning fanatic. Secondly, some areas on the face always get missed out - which ones will depend on the individual face structure - and you have to make multiple passes on those to get a reasonably clean shave. This brings us to the biggest problem (for me, at least). If you wish to trim sideburns or goatees, etc. in specific shapes, this will not do it. Being a rotory shaver, you have to move it around quite a bit and sharper corners, etc. are next to impossible. Overall, a very nice shaver which performs as advertised, but has a few drawbacks that will either matter or not based on individual preferences.

Appreciate amazon for refunding 49/- for delayed delivery of the product. Best product I have ever used till date. Cons: The could have designed the product in such a way that the brush could also have been part of the shaver itself. Pros: Everything except the cons :) Lets get practical here. This not a conventional shaving method and hence please DO NOT expect 100% clean shave. This give 99.9% shave only. This is mainly because of us i.e. our face. How much ever you may try and the blades are designed, they cannot adjust 100% to the contours of the face. Hence instead of cribbing (I have seen quite a few here) that it is a waste of many and all that nonsense, see how well you can make the product work for you and for this it WILL take time. Hence this WILL take time. Well, how much time is required? Well it depends. Anywhere between 5-20 shaves. You need to give that time for you to get adjusted with the machine. You NEED to be patient with this. You cannot use this machine if you have not shaved for more than 2 days. So, this machine is best used if the stubble is within 2 days of growth. If it is more then this machine would not give you the results. If you want maximum out of this machine and your investment, the frequency of shaving HAS to be alternate days. Anything more than this, the machine fails. Yes, it does take some time for us the get the desired results near the chin and neck area, but then by slightly adjusting the angle of the machine and the usage you will be able to achieve the results. As I said you need to be patient. Few, like me, might experience slight irritation near the neck area or so. In such cases do not panic. Just rub an ice cube. This not only give you a soothing effect but also reduces the irritation immediately. Well, that's all I have to say here. Trust me, this is one of the best products you can blindly use. So, happy shaving. PS: The ice cube trick is not only for this but for the conventional shaving also thus saving money on expensive after shaves :).

...geht das Ding nicht mehr. Einfach aus, kein Lebenszeichen, nix... Habe das gleiche Modell auch schon in 2012 gekauft und das hat immerhin fast 3.5 Jahre gehalten. Jetzt wird es wohl ein Rasierer einer anderen Marke. Schade eigentlich, sonst war ich ja ganz zufrieden damit.

Really not much to say. Most folk will know the facts if they are looking it. It shaves as close as a £200 Philips I bought many year ago. It feels lighter and a little more plastic. Whereas my previous shaver was a touch heavier and felt slightly more luxurious. Anyway I have owned it for about two weeks and I intend using regularly. Sometimes when I shave I miss a bit with the normal twin blade wet-shave razor. I find the electric razor picks up bits I miss with the blade. The spot under my chin for some reason I just can't get right every time with a blade. I use this razor afterwards there, and it's perfect. Also I can get slighty closer on the whiskers around my mouth with electric. I can finish off the wet-shave again with this Philips. The sideburn areas which I shave off always, gets closer with electric. If I use the Philps only, I find it gets close enough. If I need to, I can finish off with a blade for a few awkward ones on my neck that I might not have caught. If I leave my whiskers to grow longer, the neck ones lie down and are hard to get with electric. There are only so many times you can go over an area on the neck before it gets hot. However this razor does manage it. Also, I find if I shave every two days, I can keep it up with this shaver. The whiskers are all standing proud at that point. My key point to a blade wet-shave, is shave after you bath. The whiskers are very soft and you get a very close shave. Any areas left, and this electric shaver will get them. It was a good buy. I wanted a electric shave because I was fed up with the chore of shaving which often ended with cuts or a sore face so as I like the look of this thought I would give it a go.Well this is a lovely shaver it feels great in the hand and works better than they used to but unfortunately it doesn't shave as close as a razor.I does the job okay and is great for a quick trim but to get the job well done I find I need to finnish off with an ordinary razor also this device is way to bulky and heavy to travel with.
