KitchenCraft Large Lasso Rubber Jar and Bottle Opener

A friend gave me a similar product that works great. I purchased two KitchenCraft Large Lassos as Christmas gifts for friends. (This brand is twice the price of the product I have.) They each told me that they do not work at all. There is no way to tighten the strap so it slips around the jar lid without gripping. Because my friends live out of state and are so polite and didn't want to tell me about the issue until now-I asked- According to Amazon policy, it is now too late to return them. A huge waste of money!

One would think that holding the know would NOT require as much force as turning at the same time. I am a man of typical strength and bought this for my wife. I could not open any various size jars as the rubber did not hold. If they added a means for the tightening to be held, maybe it would work. But I am just throwing this out. An electric unit I bought to my wife's pleasant surprise works.

It was easy to use, I got this for my mum who has arthritis, I know she will get a lot of use out of it.

Having used a baby boa wrench for years, I thought this design would be better because the rubber band is contained in a casing. However, although the rubber band is thick and ridged, which holds jars etc., very well, the band is not long enough to accommodate larger lidded jars etc. Couple more inches length of rubber band and this product would be a winner.

This is a strange device. A small wheel with grooved sides can be turned to loosen or tighten the rubber belt. However, there's no locking mechanism to maintain or increase tightness. Neither my wife nor I can figure out how to get this device to do anything useful at all to open a tight jar lid, we get far more grip just using our fingers instead of trying to keep the rubber belt gently embracing the lid edge. And, the returns process doesn't even make available a prepaid return label.

The first Jar opener was returned faulty. The replacement was not big or strong enough to open large jars. You cannot adjust the belt tight enough to grip the lid, and because of it's plastic construction does not give you confidence that it will stay in one piece. I have tried this on a jar with a lid of 4 inches in diameter without success.

I'd not be without this tough and clever little gadget, which makes light of opening even the most stubborn of screw tops. My liquidiser is very difficult to dismantle for washing, and until I got this gizmo, I used to have to call on my husband to help. Now, thanks to the Kitchen Craft jar and bottle opener, it's easy peasy. Highly recommended.
