Relieved I now have one of these
I bought this on here last week because of all the little bits it comes with and because I like Draper products.Usually attachments for any kind of power tool tend to be expensive, so I found it works out more economical whenyou buy them at the outset, like this kit.I've seen a good video on YouTube about how to use a Hot Air Gun and from that I now understand that what you're aiming for is to expand the oxygen layer under the paint and make BUBBLES appear. Then you can peel the paint, like say, badly sunburned skin. So the idea is NOT to melt the paint, but heat the oxygen underneath it. If you melt the paint, it will turn brown, smell nasty and you are basically applying the heat gun for too long.I've finished the patio doors and this tool helped me immensely. It does take a couple of attempts to get the hang of it and I strongly recommend you use leather DIY gloves or suchlike and eye protectors. I took extra care with all 12 window panes by making my own foil covered heat deflector to place over the glass. The heat setting on this tool, that I prefer, is somewhere near the middle. I've marked the exact place with masking tape for future use.Once you see the bubbles appear, and some are quite big, you put the gun down on a heat resistant surface (e.g.old slab of wood) and get scraping. The paint then comes off very easily. It saved me a lot of time and I am relieved I have such a power tool now.I shall use this from now on instead of chemical paint stripper, which I shall reserve for cleaning old hardened paint brushes.

Ultimately you get what you pay for but I would have preferred a bit more use out of it before it died.
Solid device and comes in a sturdy carry case with plenty of tools. The temperature control knob and light system is all a bit vague and probably unsuitable for anyone who needs fine control over the heat coming out of the gun. Like most heat guns, it is designed so that it can be used standing up vertically on a work surface, however it has no support legs making it easy to knock over and I found the stiff power cable typically made it hard to position exactly where you'd want it. Technically this heat gun lasted me four years, however it's not a tool I used very regularly, probably only three or fours times a month. Considering the light use it ultimately started to become more and more unreliable, working for short periods before cutting out. Ultimately I purchased a cheap heat gun not knowing how much use I'd get out of it, however I have now replaced it with a more robust Dewalt unit.

does the job
The only thing that lets this model down is the heat control, which i found rather vague, you have a control wheel on the back, with a graduated LED bar on the top.when turning the control wheel nothing moves on the display initially, then it jumps by 100 degrees or so,not a problem for paintstripping, but for anything delicate you need something more accurate

good but overheats
if you turn it off after half an hour of operation, it will not restart until it has completely cooled. This means half an hour or so of inactivity, and time wasted. Maybe there is a good reason for this, but it's still annoying.

A good tool
Hot air gun well made and is performing well so far - Didn't give it 5 stars as scraper tools are blunt and I found that you are better off with a decent shave hook instead.

great value
This was described as having damaged packaging. I was very pleased when it arrived as it just had a small tear in the shrinkwrap, and, with a considerable reduction in cost due to this small defect, I thought it was a great bargain. Very pleased. Appears to work OK too!

Hot air gun
I bought this for my husband and he thinks it is great. He makes model planes and this is perfect. At least now he won't keep pinching mine that I use for craft work!!!

Only used it once so far to defrost a frozen ice compartment on the fridge in the garage. Worked really well.
