Vacuum Storage Bag for King Size Mattress

My partner and I purchased this item to help us with our move, since we have a California king bed that we got off of Amazon that is part memory foam, part spring. This this product is absolutely phenomenal since you can hook up a vacuum and leave it on for a while while you're pressing down on the mattress to squeeze out the air and compress the bed so that it's easy to roll up and move especially through small doorways if you have a larger bed. I felt like the compression was just right since it causes all the air to be sucked out via the vacuum I would say that you do have to press on the bed a little bit in order to get all the air out. I didn't really notice any odor with the bag which was nice. Overall I think it was very easy to use and did its function just right. I would say to anyone wanting to use this product to be very careful when carrying it so that it doesn't get punctured from sharp edges or if you're moving it down or upstairs you need to be careful with the hand railing if you have one because it can puncture the product and that will definitely make it a lot harder to move while it's reinflating. My partner found that out when it accidentally hit a hand railing when we were moving but we most recently bought another one and it wasn't punctured at all during our most recent move so we can reuse that when we move again.

This worked for me. Had to dispose of a king sized foam mattress without any help. I used a 3hp shop vac and it took about 10-12 minutes to reduce the mattress volume to about 33% of original volume. I don't think a regular vacuum may have enough suction or it might get overworked. Be careful not to puncture the bag. I was able to fold the compressed mattress and tie it up to put on a dolly. It fit in my mid sized SUV for dump disposal. The straps it comes with are not adequate for a king sized mattress (too short and have fragile plastic buckles). It was mentioned in previous reviews so I had also ordered a set of longer tie straps with metal buckles. Would have been easier with two people but is doable with one.

I still cannot believe how well this worked! Moving is a huge pain in the butt!! This bag was a bit of a challenge to wriggle a king size 14 inch depth mattress into, but it fit!! The zipper to close it was really rough to seal, my thumbs were sore by the time I was finished BUT that zipper type seal shockingly worked perfectly!! I wish it came with a better tool to save your hand digits the agony. It took about twenty minutes, maybe a half hour to get the mattress into the bag and the bag sealed properly. I had read previous reviews that you need a shop vac to vacuum seal it and they were correct. Even that took another good half hour to suck all the air out and make this fat mattress into a plastic wrapped pancake. But it worked and it worked well!! We were able to roll this beast of a mattress into a manageable sized log. Sooooo much easier to move down a twisted three story staircase. We threw it into the back of my compact car (my beloved best up Honda Fit) with ease. It fit through the narrowest front door and hallway ever in my new residence which is a 100 year old home. All while also being fully protected from the elements and dirt and dust bunnies. Highly recommend to anyone needing to move or store a mattress. It’s like a magic shrinking bag.

Plan ahead. The mattress bag works really well and was ample size for our king mattress. After reading the other reviews about the straps and plastic closures, we took precautions to tackle rolling it up. We used a regular vacuum cleaner hose (make sure your vac hose has a flat end to match the surface of the air outlet) it took about 30 minutes of vacuuming and rolling our bodies on the mattress. We slid our own ratcheting straps underneath to tighten it down. Again, using our entire bodies as we rolled it up meanwhile ratcheting our straps to help keep it rolled up. Then we used the straps that came with the bag. I believe that the mfg makes the closures out of plastic so they don’t puncture the bag. We stuffed cardboard underneath our metal ratchets to protect the bag. This was quite a workout, but worth it. It will be stored for about 10 months so this is why we used additional straps.
