Works better than most upright, fixed can openers
I have two of these at my other house, but I needed one here to open cans. I already knew that these can openers were very good and worked the best. It is especially significant to realize the difference in this type of can opener from the regular ones. Several years ago, I had large cans that needed to be opened. However, regular can openers can only handle sizes up to a point. This one can go around whatever size can you want. It can go around the world if it had enough battery charge.I pulled this thing out of the box and immediately plugged it in to charge in order to be able to test it for this review. I went outside to water my corn in the garden and came back in and decided to try it out. I tried looking around for some old cans that I could try it out on, and I was not finding any. My wife found a fresh can of beans that she wanted, and I tried it out. The dang thing just went around and cut it open, just like I have seen it do for over 10 years now. So, they have it charged before delivering. Great. Didn't know that.As a minor note, most can openers have a problem with how to connect the can to it and start the motor. This one is no exception. You have to kind of look up in there where the blade is and connect the can just right. It takes a little practice, but it is doable.I am a fan of this little can opener. It is about my 4th one. The other ones are still working well after 10 years. I tried the other cheap ones, but it was pitiful. I was making spaghetti meat sauce and needed to open about 6 or 7 cans of tomato sauce. The cheap can opener that I had bought was really difficult. It would work for a second or two and then disconnect. I had to start it over. But, I had to keep doing this over and over. That's when I decided to buy this can opener that I have seen working before.

Score
Disable limited use of left hand. This thing is badass ,makes it easy for us crippled folk to open canned goods without slicing up our hands or body. It Holds a charge for about 7 days when used Daily. For under$25 it’s a score

2nd Purchase But Only Because I Lost My Charging Cord
04/29/25: This is my favorite can opener. I have another manual type that does a great job on larger cans, but for the short ones and the normal size cans this is my go to. I use one and if it doesn't do the job I switch to the other. Either way I'm covered for all sizes of cans.

Love this. Makes every day life easier. Quick and easy to use. Wish it didn’t have to be plugged in all the time but love it.

Nifty gadget good for arthritic hands
Very cool device. works well . You dont even need to hold the can once the opener is attached to it.We chose this can opener because we didnt want the under the cabinet one that takes up valuable space or the counter top kind for the same reason. This opener will not fit in our standard silverware drawer. This was a bit of a disappointment, but we found a spot for it. It doesnt take up too much roomBe careful to keep track of the charging cord for recharging the opener. This is perfect for people with arthritis who cannot use the hand held openers

Finicky, but good, can opener
Excellent opener, easy to remove lids, size make it easy to store, the blade is sharp, and lids are sharp, not smooth. It is finicky to mount, but once place, it travels around the can cutting the lid open. It can hold a charge which makes it great for camping or for the occasional power outage.

Confusing
I really wanted to love this little can opener, having used battery operated ones previously. The rechargeable kind seemed like a great idea. Nope. When it dies, and it does too frequently, you are forced to pry it off the can and finish the job with a manual opener, which hurts my fingers. With the old ones I could just stick in a couple new batteries and finish the job. Also, if you are planning on keeping this in a drawer it has to be a deep one. But the real problem with this little opener is getting it on the can and started. I keep hoping I find the secret, but it's starting to look bleak. It just doesn't want to sit down easily. There should be some sort of guide, but there isn't. And those little feet are just suppose to be cute I guess. And lastly, made in China! Shame on you Hamilton Beach.

Perfect size for a small kitchen
I got this to replace a larger can opener that took up too much counter space. This is just the right size, it fits in the kitchen drawer when not in use. It has excellent battery life and is sharp cutting through cans with little effort. The only thing that keeps it from being 5 stars for me is there is no charging light to let you know when charging is complete.
