Muse in Lingerie

Good concept, dismal reality
At $6.95 per book, most being less than a third the length of a standard novel, this series is just not worth it. If you're really hoping for a "Scotch" or "Buttons" experience & want to give "Lingerie" a chance, wait to see if the author puts out the series as a boxed set for $9.99.The "nekkid-fun" scenes are good... the first 2 or 3 times. Then all the intimacy became glaringly repetitious. The characters are next-generation from the author's "Buttons" series. Each personality has overtones of the parents, but still manage some distinctions. The challenges faced by the characters are either ill-defined or shoved in the readers face; subtlety is lacking. The conflict resolutions do not consistently contribute to character development or moving the plot line forward. It feels as though the "Buttons" characters are still with the author even though their stories were wrapped up. In trying to carry on the Barsetti legacy, the author failed to have taken the time to know her characters and plot line to weave a new tapestry. It is unfortunate that so many "beta readers" are more interested in stroking egos rather than helping a writer produce a quality story. The Lingerie series had a great deal of potential but it was produced as a cookie-cutter cash-cow... hopefully the author will be more thoughtful & have better advisors for her next effort.

Horrible
I really dislike her brother, the idiot character naked knuckles and most of all Conway. Even the butler is an ass to her! Loved her determination and fight, just wish there was more to her. Ends with a cliffhanger and you need to pay for the rest of the books, pass. There needs to be some redeemable quality to Conway but honestly there isn't. So, reading the next book, no thank you.

Dear God, self esteem, peiple.
Anybody who gave this book better than two stars needs to seriously examine their own self worth. And maybe read some better quality books. First off, who cares about these people? Neither protagonist is anyone that any normal human being would want to spend ten minutes with. The girl is obnoxious and literally stupid. And Conway is a rapist with zero personality of redeeming qualities. The author tries to make her seem spunky, but she just comes off obstinate and bratty. The author has Conway save sex slaves and has a scene where he has an internal debate as to whether the fact that he does it for money means he isn't really a decent person. Then he "saves" Sapphire and acts and thinks in ways that prove he is not. And that. Sapphire?? Are you kidding me? What, did her parents WANT her to be a stripper when she was born? And how is Conway an Italian name? couldn't be at least have been Cesare? And his Italian cousin is named Carter. WTF? He is an abusive jerk and she is a cipher. The writing is painful. I really don't expect literature when I read a soft porn romance novel; but I expect that at least the sex won't be written in a way that turns me OFF. Who gets a kick out of reading about the hero orally raping the heroine to the point that she is silently crying or says to themselves, "Aw, I hope they wind up happily together." This was awful and makes me really wonder about a lot of women who gave this drivel five stars. Get some therapy, people.

One star
I wanted to like this book...I almost love all romatic eroticas but this just fell so short. First, I was annoyed by how redundant the story was. She kept repeating the same facts over and over again. Okay I get it. Knuckles is a big NY drug lord no one knows about. Baretti is very powerful and could own anyone (get over yourself). The MC was ungrateful and irritating. She just opposed Baretti for no reason. Like...didn't you want the job? Do what he says you spoiled brat! She was not likable. The story was just dry. It did not keep my interest what so ever.

This book was just ok for me. I found the story to be too far fetched. The two main characters were unappealing. I did not feel this connection to one another that they kept referring to. In order for me to become invested in a series i have to be captivated. This was a long way from that feeling.

4.5 stars - Sapphire and Conway, part 1
We are introduced to Sapphire, an innocent victim running for her life because of bad decisions made by her now deceased brother. She ends up in Italy looking for a fresh start. She goes to an audition for lingerie models for famed designer Conway Barsetti. She is selected as one of ten to continue, even though she pleads for a "behind the scenes" job. Without another option, she appears at this next stage of the competition and before they get to her the others are dismissed. Conway is taken with her and describes her as perfect, but he is cold and demanding. She stands up to him and refuses to tell him why she is on the run. She inspires him with a number of new designs. Conway is so sought after because his designs capture the male perspective and are all about sex (the women feel good in the designs as well). He uses unique materials that make his lingerie quite expensive. When Sapphire (who he calls Ten, then One until he learns her name) stars in his most recent show, Knuckles (the gangster she is running from) finds her. What will happen now? Will Knuckles capture her? How does Conway react to this? This book ends in a HFN. But this couple's story appears to continue for three more books. There are 15 total in the series, including this one. I don't think I will continue because it is a bit expensive for my wallet.NOTE: This touches on female slavery and as such may be offensive to some.

Not worth the price
This was ok, just ok. I bought this after reading a recommendation but I really don't think it was worth the money. It seemed promising as I was reading but didn't deliver. Nothing much happened what wasn't expected. Perhaps that's because this is first book in a long, long series so everything was hinted at but held back to tempt you into buying the next book and then the next. Nope, not me. Each book is too expensive for what they give you.

Wow yet another fantastic storyline. Poor Scarlett
Wow yet another fantastic storyline. Poor Scarlett. a victim of a selfish brother, leaving her with impossible debts. Knuckles a heinous villian, wants his debt paid by Scarlett, even though he has killed Nathan, her brother. She runs, and Conway enters the arena. What follows is electric, A chemistry so strong, makes your toes curl. Great to catch up and hear of previous characters. Looks like another great series.

No proper ending. No epilogue ☹️
Loved this story, not so much the price of each book. Then get to the end and realise there isn’t a proper ending to the story left me a bit feed up. You have to buy the next set of books , Vanesa’s story to see what happens next . I’m sure it carries on that way with her story. So I will not be buying any more from this author

I have been up all night reading this, I could not put it down...
Im a Penelope Sky fan and have read most of what she has written, I have to say this is another I love. There is something familiar about this edition and it had me addicted at the off.Using Barsetti characters just made me.... well happy ! I love the new characters, Conway being similar to his father, strong admiring and handsome, although I didn't find him as dominant. Sapphire is good in this, not too annoying and strong willed.Im looking forward to the next installment... Completely recommend

A very human book which we can all learn from!
I like the characters - their reactions are very genuine for the story line. All men should read books like this so that they can understand their woman in a way which would not otherwise be possible.
