I’ve used 4 way buffering blocks for years—sure, the polishing side gave my naked nails a nice shine, but I could never achieve a “clear polish” level shine using just the buffing block and some cuticle oil.I purchased this expecting it to work about the same as the polishing side of my 4 way buffer block. To my surprise, this thing actually works SO MUCH better! When paired with SuperNail buffing cream, my natural nails truly look like they have a layer of clear top coat on them! What’s even more shocking is the fact that the shine lasts just over a full week on my natural nails before needing a touch up. The chamois buffer alone gets you about 75% of the shine, but when paired with a buffing cream, the results are phenomenal! 10/10 would purchase this again!In my opinion, the low-star ratings/reviews are likely due to incorrect use. Here are some tips to get the shiniest results.- Remove old polish before buffing- Smooth ridges and/or surface scratches using a fine grit buffer first. This is important! Even if you don’t think you need to, nail scratches can be microscopic (ie invisible to the naked eye). Those scratches essentially prevent light from reflecting off your nails, so if you skip this step, you either won’t be able to achieve a high shine, or it’ll take much longer to achieve using only the chamois buffer. In my opinion, this step is essential prior to using the chamois buffer for the first time; it then becomes optional if you’re using the chamois buffer regularly. If at any point you stop using the chamois buffer for an extended period of time (ie you allow your nails to lose the shine entirely), I’d recommend doing a light buff again prior to using the chamois buffer (for the same reasons mentioned above).- If using a buffing cream, apply a very LIGHT layer; you really only need a pea sized amount to cover all your fingers on one hand. Spread a light layer over the entire nail surface- Allow the cream to dry down to a chalky texture.- Once dry, start buffing! Swipe the buffer back and forth on your nail bed until all of the buffing cream is gone. Once you think you’ve buffed all of the cream off, keep going! This is where the magic happens! You’ll notice your nails go from cloudy, to a little clearer, then eventually super shiny! The first time you do this, it might take 20-30 swipes to get your nails shiny. The more regularly you do this, the less swipes you’ll need to maintain the shine!

I started buffing my nails because they a peeling from all the dish washing at work. The cover material is a this leather or leather like material. If I only go in one direction, it should last a while.

This caused my nails to be duller than the natural shine they had. Bad stitching on the chamois. After 2 nails the fabric was pilling. The handle, which is low grade plastic, is too thin to get a good hold. Unfortunately, there is nothing "professional" about this item.

I have arthritic hands, so it is challenging for me to use. I am able to use it on my good days & my nails look manicured & shiny.
