Sturdy, intelligently built, and shockingly interchangeable parts
[Forewarning, I'm a yapper. This review may be long.] In short, this does what it says it will. If you need a mount with parts that can easily be removed and swapped out, a variety of ways you can adjust the structure to suit your needs, and supports adding entirely new parts, then get this. My only warning is that the phone clip can only hold a maximum of 4-inch-width devices, give or take. So if your device is bigger than that, id suggest looking for a separate clip you can replace the built-in one with. [Elaboration, if you care for it.] I haven't had a need for something like this until just recently, so I admittedly haven't had the most research or input into the best options as I have for other utilities. But considering the price compared to what I got, I by no means regret anything! The box's weight alone was pretty promising, and testing it out proves to be near perfect. I wouldn't call myself a Vtuber, but anyone here for that purpose should definitely consider this option for a mount. I have drawn and rigged a handful of models, although that's mainly for DnD sessions. It became immediately apparent that I needed somewhere I could put the camera I was using. While plastic isn't an ideal material, I'd give it a pass here. Some sockets, the covers, the handles to tighten the joints, and the phone holder itself are all made of plastic. Based on my using microphone boom arms (and moving them around excessively,) I believe the phone clamp is the only piece that might suffer from being plastic. I don't have a tape measure, but my guesstimate is that you have maybe three and a half, or four inches to work with in device width. My current phone needs to have the case removed to fit, which is what I was using to test it. But the device meant for the mount in the first place should fit just fine. The rubber grips have an "L" shape to them, which seems to really assist in keeping your phone steady, and they arent harsh enough to break anything. But even with my gripes in the phone clamp, it's not a big deal. Considering this piece can be removed and switched out at will with anything that has the same size screw or adapter. (Something I am regrettably not the right person for to measure.) With the included grip, you can attach the arm to the back, so it holds the phone in front. Or you can attach it to the end, so it holds the device on top. This piece can also rotate when needed. Additionally, you change out whether the arm is attached to the bottom or top of the desk clamp. In the case that you find the arm to be too long, or you have pieces that would fit as an extension, you can easily remove a pole and move it elsewhere, by unscrewing the joint as far as possible and popping the balljoint out, or popping a new one in. This includes the adapter that holds the phone grip onto the arm, in the case it requires a replacement. (Particularly relevant if you have a better grip you want to attach, which needs a different size to screw onto.) Considering the price, I am already quite happy with the value. On its own out of the box, it works perfectly. While I wish it could be manipulated easier, i am more than okay with sacrificing that for the stability it has. But on top of that, every piece can be replaced or swapped out with minimal trouble. It feels like it was designed to be something you keep forever, only swapping out single parts if something happens. I may not be a professional at determining what utilities are the absolute best. But at least in this instance, I was surprised. I was expecting a temporary tool I could replace later on if need be. But instead I got something reliable, sturdy, and meant to last forever. I realize this is a weird point to harp on, but it feels especially important to me. It doesnt feel like a product that was spat out for the sake of selling something. It feels like something you would have made for yourself, with the intent of future-proofing it. With some creativity and patience, I don't see myself ever throwing this out for any purpose.

The best small video camera holder I have found.
The length and adjustability of this holder is nearly perfect. I have been using this for about 6 months now to hold a small Canon video camera and it is so much better than the clumsy tripod I was using before which always was in the way. The three double joint articulation points and the design of the balls with a rubberized strip allows you to set any orientation you want with ease and then tighten to hold in position. I just clamp to a surface and loosen all three articulation points. It then can be aligned in any position and sequentially tightened to lock in. Once locked it holds firmly -- no droop or wobbling. Very impressed with this clamp and glad I got it. A quality item.

Good quality and affordable.
I have said it before, SmallRig makes amazing products. Many of them solve problems, and I always have problems to solve. It fits my desk perfect, easy to use and install, and holds the devices I install in it perfectly. It is light weight and durable. It does not move so the grip is solid and it does not leave marks, provided you do not over tighten, and you will not have to because it hold so well.

Life changing... in a good way.
I bought this for one purpose, and it is working out wonderfully for that. My goal was to position my old iPad mini next to my camera lens to make it better suited as a teleprompter. With the Promptsmart+ app it's an unbeatable combination. The clamp firmly grips the neck of my tripod, and the built-in padding prevents scratching. The arms let me get the iPad right where I want it and then lock into place. The result is something that sets up in seconds and works nearly as well as my Glide Gear TMP 50 Teleprompter without the additional hassle. There are lots of other things this clamp/arm combination is good for, and for now, I'm satisfied with what it's doing.

That is able to hold my phone/ action camera
Solid construction and at least I’m able to tighten the base hard enough the arm doesn’t move at all if bumped. It’s good enough for my phone and action camera and I can also attach another arm for a light or to co witness with my phone. The clamp doesn’t mar my desk surface like others do. I’m happy overall and I highly recommend it ☺️👍🏻😌😀

If you're thinking about it, buy it.
I got the ads on TikTok for this, which left me wondering if it was worth the hype. Short answer is yes. First and foremost- It's super well built. The main clamp is metal, the arms are metal, the joints are all metal. They even went so far as to add rubber o-rings to all the ball joints to increase friction. It's amazing. The catch is they cheaped out on the phone clamp included in the base. The spring and tensioning mechanism inside of it feels.... cheap and prone to breaking. That being said, the grip it has on your phone is super secure. Mega bonus points for including a cold shoe mount at the top of the phone holder- I have found this incredibly useful for adding a little battery powered LED light. This thing also packs and travels super well. It uses the standard tripod screws for the base at the top of the arm, making it endlessly configurable- I would have no qualms using this with a point and shoot type vlogging camera. I've even used it for a webcam. This makes it the perfect tool for streaming, product photos, or even overhead desk shots. The hallmark of any good product is how intuitive it is to use out the box, and this is where it shines. The Smallrig is worth the hype because it's built with insane quality for the price.

Decent arm for smaller phones/action cams
This arm is easy to attach, though I wouldn't recommend trying to clamp it to a surface edge thicker than 1.5 inches. It can be set to various angles which is nice and adjusting it only involves loosening bolts and then tightening them back. The phone holder that came with the arm can hold many phone sizes, but if you have a larger phone such as a galaxy ultra model or iPhone pro/pro max, I'd recommend getting a separate phone holder. I used a phone holder made by another manufacturer and while it did support my phone, I had to really tighten the bolts so the arm wouldn't fall. It did hold my phone, but it would be better suited for smaller phones, action cameras, webcams, etc. The build quality is good enough, though the joints are plastic. Overall, it's not a bad product, but with improved joints and the capacity to clamp to thicker surfaces, it could be much better and more stable.

Exactly what I needed for my desk camera setup
I bought this because I use a real camera on my desk instead of a webcam. I connect my camera directly to my computer and record a lot of content. It’s kind of like a streaming setup, even though I’m not actually a streamer. I wanted something that would hold my camera right in front of me like a webcam, but also let me change angles when I wanted. This mount has been great. It’s very sturdy and built really well. The clamp is strong and adjusts easily to the desk. Once it’s tightened and positioned, it doesn’t move at all. If you intentionally tug on it, sure, you can make it shift a little, but during normal use there’s no shake and no drift. Setup was easier than I expected. At first you just have to get used to how the joints move, but once you understand that, adjusting it is simple. I mainly use it with my Sony camera, and being able to loosen the screw and dial in the exact angle I want is a big plus. I like it so much that I ended up buying two. I got my first one in August 2025 and another in January 2026. Instead of constantly unclamping and moving it around for different angles, I just added a second one to my desk. It’s slim, minimal, and doesn’t clutter my setup. It’s been perfect for content creation and for using my camera as a webcam. People constantly comment on how good the video looks, and a big part of that is having the camera held securely in the right position. I’ve tried propping cameras up in other ways before, and nothing was this stable or clean. Would I buy it again? Yes. I already bought two, and if I ever needed another one, I wouldn’t hesitate.

Nice, and sturdy.
Individual components are great quality, which contributes to a strong clamp force in all the joints, providing a really good, stable, and sturdy arm that stands the test of time. Can easily add additional components to extend or shorten the length. And the gaskets on the ball part of the joint reduce slipping and add stability when trying to make small adjustments. I’m really impressed with the design of this product.
