I got the ads on TikTok for this, which left me wondering if it was worth the hype. Short answer is yes. First and foremost- It's super well built. The main clamp is metal, the arms are metal, the joints are all metal. They even went so far as to add rubber o-rings to all the ball joints to increase friction. It's amazing. The catch is they cheaped out on the phone clamp included in the base. The spring and tensioning mechanism inside of it feels.... cheap and prone to breaking. That being said, the grip it has on your phone is super secure. Mega bonus points for including a cold shoe mount at the top of the phone holder- I have found this incredibly useful for adding a little battery powered LED light. This thing also packs and travels super well. It uses the standard tripod screws for the base at the top of the arm, making it endlessly configurable- I would have no qualms using this with a point and shoot type vlogging camera. I've even used it for a webcam. This makes it the perfect tool for streaming, product photos, or even overhead desk shots. The hallmark of any good product is how intuitive it is to use out the box, and this is where it shines. The Smallrig is worth the hype because it's built with insane quality for the price.

I bought this because I use a real camera on my desk instead of a webcam. I connect my camera directly to my computer and record a lot of content. It’s kind of like a streaming setup, even though I’m not actually a streamer. I wanted something that would hold my camera right in front of me like a webcam, but also let me change angles when I wanted. This mount has been great. It’s very sturdy and built really well. The clamp is strong and adjusts easily to the desk. Once it’s tightened and positioned, it doesn’t move at all. If you intentionally tug on it, sure, you can make it shift a little, but during normal use there’s no shake and no drift. Setup was easier than I expected. At first you just have to get used to how the joints move, but once you understand that, adjusting it is simple. I mainly use it with my Sony camera, and being able to loosen the screw and dial in the exact angle I want is a big plus. I like it so much that I ended up buying two. I got my first one in August 2025 and another in January 2026. Instead of constantly unclamping and moving it around for different angles, I just added a second one to my desk. It’s slim, minimal, and doesn’t clutter my setup. It’s been perfect for content creation and for using my camera as a webcam. People constantly comment on how good the video looks, and a big part of that is having the camera held securely in the right position. I’ve tried propping cameras up in other ways before, and nothing was this stable or clean. Would I buy it again? Yes. I already bought two, and if I ever needed another one, I wouldn’t hesitate.

Pros: Very solid overall build quality. Once locked into place, it securely holds my iPhone 16 Pro Max with a Speck case and feels stable during use. Most of the assembly feels well-made and dependable. Cons: The phone holder itself is plastic, unlike the rest of the metal construction. It works fine, but it feels like the weakest part and may not hold up as well with frequent use. SmallRig does sell a metal replacement separately, which suggests this included holder is more of a basic option. Summary: A strong and stable mount with excellent performance, but long-term durability would be improved if the phone holder matched the rest of the build quality.

This SmallRig magic arm is extremely well built and feels very solid. The articulation is amazing and makes it easy to position cameras, lights, or accessories exactly where you want them. J'utilise beaucoup de matériel SmallRig dans mon setup, donc je sais à quoi m'attendre en général : du métal solide, des finitions propres et un serrage qui tient dans le temps. J'avais besoin d'un bras compact et polyvalent pour filmer rapidement ce qui se passe sur mon bureau, sans sortir toute ma config vidéo. Celui-ci tombait pile au bon moment. Dès la sortie de la boîte, la qualité saute aux yeux. Le bras comme la pince crabe sont vraiment bien finis, tout est en métal, rien ne sonne creux. On sent tout de suite que c'est du solide. Le serrage est fluide, progressif, et surtout il tient vraiment la position une fois verrouillé. Les pinces sont excellentes : elles mordent bien sans abîmer le bureau ou un tube, et la tenue est impeccable. On peut leur faire confiance. Ce que j'apprécie surtout, c'est que ça s'intègre parfaitement à ma manière de filmer aujourd'hui. J'ai de plus en plus la flemme de sortir mes grosses caméras pour une prise rapide. Avec mon téléphone, qui a une qualité exceptionnelle, je gagne un temps fou. Je fixe le bras, je mets mon smartphone au bout, et en quelques secondes je peux filmer mes manipulations sur le bureau. Pas de prise de tête, pas de setup compliqué. En résumé, c'est exactement ce que je voulais : un accessoire simple, rapide, solide et agréable à utiliser. À la SmallRig, quoi. Ho preso questo braccio magico SmallRig per sistemare meglio webcam e smartphone sulla scrivania e devo dire che mi ha sorpreso in positivo. Il morsetto a forma di granchio è davvero stabile: l’ho fissato sia al bordo della scrivania che a un tubo e non si è mai mosso. Il braccio è lungo e molto regolabile, si trova l’angolazione giusta in pochi secondi e una volta serrato resta fermo, senza flessioni fastidiose. La qualità costruttiva è quella tipica di SmallRig, tutto in metallo e con una bella sensazione di robustezza. Uso sia il supporto telefono che una webcam e regge senza problemi, discorso differente per fotocamere, purtroppo non è fatto per carichi più pesanti altrimenti sarebbe stato perfetto. Comoda anche la clip per i cavi, che aiuta a tenere la postazione più ordinata, soprattutto per streaming o video call. Nel complesso è un accessorio super pratico per chi lavora o crea contenuti dalla scrivania.
