Worth Every Penny
As a first year math coach, this book has become my go to for just about every coaching cycle. It's organization makes it easy to pinpoint strategies and resources to facilitate coaching conversations with teachers. All of the templates are also available on line in pdf and word format. This allowed me to send the resource digitally to my teachers so they could continue to use it to impact teaching after our coaching cycle was complete. Definitely is a great resource to get my coaching practice off the ground and moving confidently forward.

Good for new coaches receiving little guidance
If you needed a roadmap and had no other training or resources to be your school’s math coach, this would be an excellent starting point. But it will only go so far. Eventually, you’re going to want to hone in on your specific audience whether primary, elementary, middle, or high, and one size fits all won’t work. Good coaching is grounded not just in instructional practices but in deep understanding of your particular math content and how students learn it and particular struggles at that level. This book doesn’t dig in deep enough to support content-based coaching cycles. I know, I know, that’s not how coaching cycles are designed, but I think that’s a design flaw. You can’t disconnect the reflective cycle from the content. It’s not just about using data and reflecting on your practices. Good teaching and coaching must get into the math itself. This book by virtue of being K-12 can’t do that, but it can help you set up a schoolwide framework in which to grow your PLC and coaching practice.

Provides a useful framework for newbie coaches
As someone who is new to coaching kids, this book got me to a great launching-off point. In retrospect, many of the strategies it goes over is pretty obvious (particularly to an already-experienced coach), but helped bridge the gap faster between me and my students. This book heavily emphasizes analysis and keeping track of your students' progress, and there were many takeaways for coaching any subject; not only math.I don't think this book will be very useful for a more experienced coach, but as a newbie, I found it indispensable.
