Works great
Great product, works as described. Ok, it's not an apogee. Even if it's 50 par off, it got me in the ballpark of where my lights needed to be set for corals. After that, just monitor the corals and make small adjustments. But to use very minimally when setting up a tank, you can't beat the price.

Great to place corals and to evaluate functioning of the lights
See es to work very well and was able to analyse best sports in the tank for my corals based on par intensity

Love it!
Really good meter. All my plants are doing way better now that I have this to tell me how strong my lights are in my aquarium.

If you want to know PAR, then...
You can make educated guesses for your coral placement, but if you have a good sum of dollars invested, and you really want to know, then buy this one because it works just fine.I did, and my guesses were pretty good as it turned out, but this showed me the true limits, low or high, where my corals could be happy. Now we're all happy.

Essential for coral life
Great meter, haven't been able to compare to the more expensive ones, but it has been able to help me a lot to know how my tanks lighting is doing and adjusting the lights to actually meet what the coral needs. Didn't realize my lights were really low before this. A must have if you are keeping corals otherwise you are just guessing.

Pretty bummed it didn't work
After waiting months for my LFS (local fish store for those who don't use that acronym) to re-order a par meter to rent I gave up and bought this one. I had been struggling with some of my corals browning out. I gave about 5 montipora frags to that same LFS because I couldn't stand to see them die. I bought this PAR meter and an Orphek Natura iCon light to help punch up the values from my sub-par Current Orbit Marine bars.Once I had my new Orphek light up I got out the PAR meter to see how my lighting was and was shocked. I then took the meter to my LFS so they could compare it under their lighting (AI Primes and Kessil) and he was getting very low readings right under the water line.I wanted to love this PAR meter but there's no way I'm trusting the readings it is giving me and I have too much money sunk in coral frags that I want to thrive. So, now I need a plan B...
