AN NPR BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR Global best-selling home cook Nagi Maehashi is back to solve the perennial problem of what’s for dinner tonight . . . and every night. Following her debut New York Times best-selling cookbook, Dinner , Nagi brings us more than 150 brand-new, fully Americanized recipes, 800 variations on those recipes, and 3,000 possible combinations that mix and match ingredients (including her world-famous Charlie Sauce). There are crave-worthy crowd-pleasers―try slow-baked Italian meatballs in a rich tomato sauce with bubbling melted cheese or fall-apart Asian chicken cooked in a sticky-sweet soy glaze. Some dinners can be cooked in 20 minutes, and others can be made using only pantry staples. For high-impact guest-impressing, turn to Sunday suppers―the Vietnamese pulled pork is a festival of flavor―while the sweet chapter delivers on the promise of maximum decadence. With stunning photos and links for how-to videos for each recipe―and plenty of guest appearances from Nagi’s beloved golden retriever, Dozer!―this is a book for every home kitchen, for every level of cooking ability, for every budget, for every set of taste buds, and for every single night of the week. 150 photographs Review: Amazing, easy to follow recipes & great photos! + Dozer! - Have you ever been frustrated by a cookbook because there aren’t enough pictures of the food? Well, Delicious Tonight has a picture of the food right next to the recipe. I eat with my eyes first so it’s important to know what my meal is supposed to look like to determine if it’s something I’m interested in going to the trouble of making. And Nagi doesn’t want to waste anyone’s time or money by making a crappy or hard to follow recipe. She tests her recipes relentlessly to make sure they’re perfect and is careful to write them in easy to understand ways. I’ve made several of her recipes and they’re always family favorites! I love her pictures of sweet Dozer (rest easy, angel) but it does not impede or overwhelm this book in any way (as one reviewer complained about Dozer being included!? Who doesn’t like a few cute dog pictures scattered in, plus he was her family, for goodness sake!) You are getting tons of amazing recipes and great information to boot. AND, it’s incredible to think of the food that is being made by Nagi and her team to feed the hungry! Every website visit and cookbook order from RecipeTin Eats funds RecipeTin Meals. RecipeTin Meals makes over 130,000 homemade meals (by professional chefs) every year for the vulnerable in her community. That is amazing! Instead of having her own cooking show, Nagi is out there doing good for humanity! I’m just so impressed by her. She is inspiring me by her kindness. This book is easy to understand, organized beautifully and has tons of helpful information. If I could give Nagi a hug and thank her for everything she has so painstakingly created, I would. This book is just perfect. Rest in peace, precious Dozer. Review: Gorgeous, delicious, fun and informative! A must have for most of us! - Gorgeous and informative book! Easy and yummy recipes! I love her style! She simplifies the ingredients lists and instructions, and gives the most helpful notes for success! And the Gorgeous pictures! Fun, wonderful and true! She is amazing and real and I’m grateful for her hard efforts to create such delicious and fun recipes! (and a few diverse recipes for people to successfully branch out when trying to cook a new cuisine for their family etc!). I also admire the good she does with the food bank! This book is a good investment all around! Great gift for beginner cooks too! xx

More Nagi
If you've follwed Nagi and her precious Golden taster Dozer through their blog RecipeTinEats, or via Facebook or more, then you also have probably been waiting for her second cookbook to arrive in the US. (Selling like hotcakes in her Australian homeland for at least a month whi!e we've been waiting.) It was a joy to sit down with it for a few hours yesterday evening.and explore the new 150+ new recipes and ideas. The only recipe that didn't appeal was with kale: I'm sure it would be delicious but I'm having digestive issues with kale at the moment. There were severa! that I wanted to try immediately from the first chapter: What I Crave. But all my chicken was rock solid in the freezer. If only I'd known the day before that the book was arriving. This is international fusion cooking at its best, and as always Nagi empowers you to try just one more new ingredient, taste, or technique. And then the next... One chapter, What You've Got on Hand, leads off with a lentil soup recipe that looks yummy. I do need to run to the supermarket tomorrow for coconut milk. Otherwise I can wing it with what I have on hand. I a!ways appreciate Nagi's guidance on substitutions, optionals, and more variations. Still inc!udes the QR codes to watch video tutorials for each recipe. While I didn't "hate" the indices from the first book (Dinner), i definitely prefer the one here. It is much easier to use, but still reflects her unique apprach to cooking. Finally, followers of RecipeTin Eats have known for sometime about Nagi's Recipe Tin Meals. There is more information about this wonderful sharing of food and resources for locals. Support for this program gives us reason to buy the book even if you never make one tasty bite for yourself. The enticing photography of Rob Palmer is back. I'm sitting here looking at the beauiful photo of Chicken Bites with Mushroom Gravy. More for my shopping list tomorrow. Even though this is food with complex flavors, I can still get most ingredients in my local Winn Dixie and Walmart. Yum!!!

Weeknight dinners with flavors -work for Teens Foodies & Foolproof on execution
Even using well-regarded US cookbooks, my family politely comments that they are just too bland, especially for the amount of work. I get it - teens are exposed to different global flavors today with fast casual, take-out. In the first 2 weeks of receiving the cookbook, I have tried eight dinners. The book hits just the right spot for global flavor, yet not too difficult, time-consuming and the ingredients were easy to get. Some recipes I have already repeated for packed lunches (Sticky Soy Chicken & Baked Beef Koftas), My family likes the variety of flavors - Arabic Chicken, simple Tapas & Chorizo, Honey Sesame Ginger Beef. The videos (with scan code) for every recipe are a quick 90 second ish of the steps that you can prevent errors - (there is no speaking just visual). I don't have to listen to someone ramble about a recipe- just sense check I am going to cook this right. My only caveat on the recipes is that when it calls for 2 tablespoon oil in a oven sheetpan, I probably will go with just a little less for my taste.

Great choice!
This is a great collection of wonderful recipes. I have not tried them all (yet) but then many I have tried have been really great. The pictures are beautiful and the recipe notes are sp helpful.

The First Book Is Better
Tried 9 recipes so far. 2 worth keeping, and the rest I either didnt like at all or didn’t like enough to make again. That said, I love Nagi. I keep track of all of the recipes I make and have made over 90+ recipes from her and love almost half of them - which I think is pretty great odds. I don’t find most of the recipes in this book enticing enough to try. To be honest I was so excited to receive the book (I preordered it and counted down the days!) but after looking through it I was disappointed. I am still committed to making some because sometimes I am surprised. If you want to purchase a book from her I would go with the first one, there’s a lot of recipes that look good and I consistently liked the ones in that book. For anyone that needs some recommendations after all my testing: I love her Beef Biryani, Chicken Satay, Butter Chicken (stovetop version), Beef Stir Fry with Black Pepper Sauce, Vietnamese Shaking Beef, Bulgogi, Chicken Doner Kebabs, Spicy Sechuan Pork Noodles, Fettucini Alfredo, Chili Mac, Mushroom Rice, Tom Yum Soup, One Pot Burritos, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, Garlic Butter Rice With Kale, Greek Chickpea Salad, Cornbread Muffins, Apple Crumble (reduced sugar variant), Mango Daiquiris, and more. Nagi not only gives you recipes, but she teaches you why you do things a certain way. For that I will always appreciate her. It’s probably a 2-3 star book (for me) but giving 4 stars since I appreciate her so much.

Must Have for Busy Home Cook Foodies!
My husband and I already have some new staple favourites from this book! We've made the coconut curry baked fish, mushroom and wild rice soup, and baked arabic chicken among many many more! I must say it's even better than her last book as she graciously listened to feedback and added more veggie and salad recipes for those of us who want our veg without sacrificing taste! I also love how she has divided this book into themes like one pot/pan meals, making meals with what you have on hand, her famous stir fry sauce, Sunday dinners etc. It honestly feels more authentic to how home cooks look for recipes (by need!) rather than the traditional beef, veggie, Asian, Mexican etc. What I love about Recipetin Eats is the meals are quality enough for a foodie but are doable for the home cook. There is so much variety in cuisines in the book from Australian to Indian to French to Chinese. You honestly can't go wrong! I think it would make a great gift as well. Highly recommend.

Be very careful to buy the book from the right country
Annoyingly this book came via Amazon US to me in Australia. So, all measurements are in the imperial system (only), not the metric system.
