Transcend 64GB JetFlash 700 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Flash Drive USB Stick Black -TS64GJF700

Superb value for money. Very fast little USB drives. I’ve come to trust Transcend as a brand after using several of their USB sticks for a recent art installation. They performed faster than any other USB stick I’ve used before and proved their reliability long term. Can’t fault them, especially at this price point.

Transcend is one of my favourite memory device manufacturers and I use their SD cards in my digital cameras and their USB memory sticks with my Macintosh computers. I have several memory sticks with a larger capacity (32GB and 64GB) but this 16GB model was purchased with a specific application in mind. I have stored on it a stripped down version of my Macintosh operating system (OS X) and equipped it with all the software tools and utilities to enable me to fix my computer should it go wrong. Disk corruption can cause minor problems but it can also prevent the computer from starting. By placing a copy of OS X on a memory stick I can optionally boot (startup) from the memory stick and use the tools and utilities upon it to get my computer working again. This often means fixing some minor disk corruption on the computer's internal hard drive. Of course, booting from a 'clone', an external hard disk drive (HDD) with an exact copy of the computers own HDD, will do the same job but the cost will be much higher. Memory stick prices have dropped faster than small HDDs. It is also possible to boot from a recovery CD, if one is provided, but this can take quite some time because there are mechanical components involved. By using a memory stick to boot the computer, startup time is cut to a fraction of that achievable from a disk (CD/DVD) and an optical disk drive, which may not be functioning due to the corruption. A USB memory stick is a perfectly acceptable 'emergency boot device' because it is truly solid-state and has no moving parts. But it is very important to choose a memory stick which has a fast 'read access' rate and the Transcend 16GB JetFlash 700 Super Speed USB 3.0 Drive meets this objective easily. The Transcend has a fast 'write access' rate too but this feature is less important in my particular application. I use Transcend memory sticks with Macintosh, Windows and Linux computers and I have never encountered a compatibility problem. They just work.

The product is neat, fast, well made and inexpensive. If I had any criticism it would be the you don't get the full 64gb. That , however, is the same with all memory sticks. Recommended.

Compact, neat and reliable. I use this with my Blink hub, and at 256GB it’s the largest capacity the hub can take. It means I’m no longer having to constantly erase footage because my Blink video doorbell fills smaller drives so quickly. A great value, high-capacity USB stick that does exactly what I needed.

As I have come to expect good quality products from Transcend, this is no exception. 64gb and USB 3 you cant go wrong, its fast and reliable and it is yet another flash drive for my collection that I have been using for a few years now without any problems, I dont expect any from this drive either. You can use this in USB 2 slots as well as the USB 3, although ithe transfer rate wont be as fast. I have found it great for transporting data, films or music and it also works fine plugged into the back of my TV to record programs I want to watch later. Transcend have proved to me to be one of the more reliable flash drives that are on the market and I would recommend them .

Not much to say, works as intended and has just under 16gb of space. I have only had it for around a month now with minimal use so I don’t know what the durability is like

Nowhere near the storage capacity it should have and does not have the "Bright LED usage status indicator" as advertised!

Does exactly what it says on the box (packaging) works superbly on USB3.0.. excellent flow of data and even on USB 2.0 it is faster than their earlier models (300 series).. VFM? (Value for Money) .. I would say yes without hesitation. I compared the price to may 'rivals' and including Transcend's own website and I still saved .. [Amazon included free delivery and no additional import tax] 5 Star ***** Rating Excellent quality Smmoth design Neon Blue LED DATA Stream indicator Neon Blue LED Power light Replacement tops available from the manufacturer [should you lose it] Lifetime Warranty Yes.. definitely ticked all the boxes ===================================== As of 30/05/13 Drive failed.. constant blue flashing LED and unable to access drive using the Transcend Recovery software.. even by using CMD in three different Windows OS [Vista, 7 and 8 Pro] there was no reading the drive using 3.0 or 2.0 Drive will have to be sent back to Transcend for a replacement... Reliability is now a concern.
