Asus RT-BE88U Woah what a Router
Asus RT-BE88U Woah what a Router, its full of features & settings to cater for everyone's needs. I got the router a few days ago, and its been Fantastic so far. The Design is the same as the Asus RT-AC88U, but has a golden style to it. It seems abit more warmer that the AC88U but thats due to all the processing for the faster network speed such as 2.5Gb or 10Gb LAN ports. The Wifi 7 speed has been amazing on my phone & Wifi Laptop. Its super fast on both 2.5Ghz & 5Ghz bands. Wi-Fi 7 Technology Utilizes the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard, supporting 160MHz channel bandwidths, Multi-Link Operation (MLO), and 4K-QAM for enhanced wireless performance. Its easy to create a separate Guest network or Internet Of Things network, So you can now have a wireless network for older Devices that run on 2.4Ghz and have a separate network for your Newer devices that use things like WPA3, MLO. The Router has loads of options for configurations. make sure you backup the settings before you go playing with them, So you can easily revert back. It’s a bonus you can download the Asus app and control the router from your mobile phone. The router features a nice design with removable antennas & options for wall or ceiling mounting. It offers value for money for all that it does. I'm glad I bought it and would highly recommend it.

Perfect for wired networks, great router overall.
I have 10gbe fibre to my server and 10gb rj45 lan to pc, then a 2.5gb backhaul to my zen node and a couple of other devices. The only disadvantage is it doesn't have wifi 6 (my node does though) so it's not the best wifi 7 like the ROG But that doesn't have a fibre port. So, for me, this is the prefect setup. Specify by IP the main phones to give priority signal, built in ai protection. It's packed with features including vpn fusion where i can specify which devices live on a VPN. So if you need the fastest wifi 7 find another router. If you want a solid all rounder this is the one.

ASUS RT-BE88U Dual-band WiFi 7 Router - Not so great! Returned after just 2 days.
I've always used Asus Routers, upgraded my Asus RT-AX89X to this ASUS RT-BE88U Dual-band WiFi 7 Router. I wish I hadn't bothered, I found the WiFi only okay, nothing special, what I really couldn't get along with was how grainy everything was when streaming Live TV, Netflix, Disney+ and so on. I'm pretty tech savvy so at first, I thought the grainy streaming quality was my broadband, so I tried out a couple of my older Asus routers, everything worked great with older routers. After doing some troubleshooting, I found when streaming using the Asus RT-BE88U there was allot of packet loss, the software seemed quite slow and buggy. I gave it a chance for 2 days but I couldn't get the Asus RT-BE88U to work as well as it's predecessors. I've returned it, and purchased the new TP-Link Archer GE800 - BE19000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Gaming Router with the 6Ghz band, and SPF+ Port. Having never used TP-Link routers before, I gotta say, I'm very impressed with TP-Link.

Amazing wifi router
Did not expect such a huge performance increase in wifi 7 over wifi 6. Covers house perfectly with no issues. Love this device.

Waste of time and money for the average home.
You can literally buy a fake WiFi 7 router, the same as this one, without all the over engineering for £120 here on Amazon UK and comes loaded with 2.5gb/s Wan and Lan ports, does everything this router does, and much easier to work with, also without the ASUS value added tax on top of that, it took me over 3 hours to try and figure things out on this Asus router, I couldnt get any wifi devices to connect to it at all, after various factory resets and no user manual, it turned out it was having a USB stick plugged in the USB port, as soon as it was removed, it lit up like a xmas tree and worked fine, so in order to use the usb port for storage like a nas, you need to set the router up without anything plugged into the USB port, then goto WAN > Dual WAN > and select no to 4G / 5G mobile tethering which is enabled by default, what everyday user is going to know how to do this ? ended up sending it back, this is really not needed for a home router and is a pile of junk.5Initial setup forces you to set up a single wifi 7 network and a single IoT network, with no bypass just incase you dont want to use those features, and once set, they are there for good, you can disable them in the router web config page, but you cant fully remove them, so if you then decide to not use the wifi 7 and split your 2.4 and 5ghz networks, although youve got the 7ghz disabled, they still show up in the network map, and somehow the buggy firmware, mixes up which devices are connect to which which profiles, its very frustrating. So unless you need all these ports for an office or small business to eliminate a switch for instance, dont waste you money on this, not needed for the normal household.

With 2G ram and fast CPU, this router can handle many devices at home, AppleTV steaming, YouTube, Netflix and Work form home with MS team meeting as well.

Easy to set up but the wifi was weak . Tried different setting and still did not improve. Sent back for a refund.

Product is great, Amazon Warehouse is CRAP
The router is great, there are plenty of reviews around on that. This review is about buying it as an Amazon Warehouse - As Good As New product. If it was as good as new then it would have had a factory reset performed so it worked out of the box. IT DIDN'T. Fortunately I work in IT and knew this was likely the problem, could find the instructions on how to do this. The ASUS manual for the router doesn't tell you how to do this btw.For anybody not technically inclined (or anybody at all) this is properly shonky customer service. A complex piece of electronics sold 'as new' should arrive in an 'as new' state, not with some half-arsed previous customers configuration still in place. If you had read the manual and were expecting a certain setup routine this was never going to arrive and you'd be stuck. I am wondering if this router has been round the block a couple of times, once to the original seller who cocked up the install, back to Amazon where it wasn't reset and when sent out was returned as faulty as a result and now it is with me. Happy with the product, will think twice before buying Amazon Warehouse again and probably won't bother.
