This thing is pretty incredible. I rewired my boat and it was hundreds of close quarter solder connections which I use a heat gun for. The heat gun outputs 1,200' F heat, and this felt handled it like a champ. If I point blank the felt for 10 seconds it starts to smoke, but I could easily lay my heat gun down on this and never had an issue. I used this is front of other wires, heat shrink, plastic split loom and even the boat carpet and never once had heat get past it. For the price, I'm not sure why I don't have a whole blanket of this on my bed, just to fight a fire on the way out the door should I ever need it!!

Needed a heat blanket for exhaust set up, this was perfect. I even took a torch to it while I was burning of header wrap stray strands. Header wrap strands melted this stuff not at all.

This is not advice on how to stop something from catching fire! However, I did use it for a piece of furniture that was positioned close to a heating device and it was amazing at stopping the heat from impacting the finish of the wood. The protection wasnt just about the wood reaching its kindling point; it was to stop the finish from peeling. It worked. I bought some velcro adhesive patches available on Amazon and wrapped it around the leg and crossmember. Magic protection. It was easy to use and the thickness allows it to be folded, wrapped or whatever needs to be done. I did not use it all and I'm thinking about how I can install it instead of a heat shield on an old car.

Totally exceeded expectations. Had to gas weld a small metal tab in a very tight closed in space. The blanket was placed right next to the oxygen/act flame, basically isolating the area to be welded vs the the other areas not to be harmed by the flame. bottom line, it worked very well.

I have used it a few times for welding copper pipes using propane gas. It works. It's big and inexpensive, great value. It does smoke a bit and whitens when it gets heat directly on it, but it was a non-issue for me. Only addition I could ask for is if it had small rings to easily hook it. But, you can easily install those yourself if you want by cutting a hole, or just add a nail to it. Recommended.

I use this with the little wood stove I bought and it worked great. I had it sitting on a plastic table and it didn’t even get hot.
