How do you open to insert the battery? I have had ZERO luck and it feels like it is going to break if I keep trying to pry it open. HELP!

I thought I would break it, too. But if you'll take a small flat-end screwdriver or a small coin and slowly pry around the edges to break the seal, it will snap open with a little effort. Insert the battery and snap it back together.

Will this work on a Legacy 696CD?

According to the advertisement these remotes will work with Genie and 'other' overhead door openers manufactured after 1995 except those using DIP switches.

Does this work overhead model 696cd/b?

Hi Leo, i did little searching, the kind of the door remote you need is ASCRTO Type 1 , i am going to add the link for amazon, this should work fine. https://www.amazon.com/Intellicode-Overhead-ACSCTG-ACSCTO-Gitr-3/dp/B09Q1RZJRT/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3JWF8YUYD72OV&keywords=ACSTO+garage+door+remote+control&qid=1670291578&refinements=p_n_condition-type%3A6358196011&rnid=6358194011&s=hi&sprefix=acsto+garage+door+remote+control%2Caps%2C67&sr=1-1
